Análisis para el Acer Chromebook Spin 714 CP714-1WN-53M9

The Acer Chromebook Spin 714 (2023) is a marvellous Chromebook. With some sleek design and a decent port selection, it offers a solid all-round package for the price. It offers some nippy performance for a Chromebook, as well as some excellent battery life, too. The only limiting factor is its high price tag, and for creatives, a Windows laptop will be better.

An elegant and refined Chromebook design that’s built for business users in a post-Windows world. But can you really use leverage this level of power with ChromeOS, and why does it not have mobile comms?

The Chromebook Spin 714 offers great battery life and more power than most Chromebooks today, but you certainly pay for it. It's not ideal for everyone, but it's great for folks who need the speed, versatility and battery life to get work done on the go.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 714 maintains its spot as our favorite premium Chromebook, earning its immediate Spin family our Editors' Choice award for a third time. While we wish Acer could cut a few ounces from it, we wouldn’t want to part with its sturdy aluminum enclosure. With so many Chromebooks offering low-grade plastic frames, that all-metal design is appreciated for its good looks and ruggedness. And while we are sad to see Acer jettison the microSD card reader, the Spin 714 offers an ample-for-a-Chromebook 256GB SSD that helps offset the lack of easily added internal storage. We like the new 14-inch, 16:10 display that offers a great balance between work and play, and the addition of a garaged stylus addresses one of our chief complaints about the Spin 713. Any 2-in-1 should let you carry a pen with you for those times you want to take more natural, hand-written notes or doodle a bit. The Chromebook Spin 714 is appropriately priced at $729 but would be a major steal at the $499 sale price we've already seen pop up once this year.

I don’t want to brush past how much extra power the Spin 714 has. The silent fans and cold plastic were very much a noticeable improvement. This likely remains one of the most powerful Chromebooks — if not most powerful devices — you can buy for $729.99. But what makes me sad is that the Spin 713 used to be that. The Spin 713 blew its competitors out of the water with benchmark scores. But it was also great in so many other ways. It had a great screen. It had great battery life. It had a great port selection. Really, the only thing to complain about was the subpar audio (which remains subpar on the 714). The Spin 714, by contrast, mostly has the powerful specs going for it. And while that power certainly keeps it in the conversation, it is not at all the slam-dunk purchase that the 713 was.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 714 challenges my natural distrust for any Chromebook that costs over $500, mostly thanks to its excellent display, speedy potent performance, and business casual styling. I find myself enamored with the Spin, and happily using it to quickly push documents and binge-watch video content. The stylus was handy, worked wonderfully, and allowed me to quickly take handwritten notes and sketch during my downtime. The Spin 714, is an excellent choice for remote workers, teachers, and students on a budget who want a Chromebook with enough oomph to easily handle consistently having over 40 tabs open while working.

At the moment, the Acer Chromebook Spin 714 is one of the best productivity Chromebooks available. It might be a little buttoned-up as far as its overall design goes, but it is made for durability. Otherwise, you're getting great performance and battery life, a good display, a dockable stylus and strong connectivity and conferencing features. It's even available at a reasonable price if you get it on sale. But not everyone needs all of this in a Chromebook, and there are more affordable options on our list of the best Chromebooks. That includes Acer's Chromebook Spin 513, which is a fanless version of the Spin 713 with the same 13.5-inch, 2,256x1,504-pixel touchscreen with a 3:2 aspect ratio.

If you're looking for a Chromebook that doesn't try to do anything too fancy, while still being plenty powerful, the Acer Chromebook Spin 714 might just fit the bill. Between the 16:10 display and garaged USI pen, this is the perfect Chromebook for taking notes, getting work done, or playing games.

Like other 12th-gen Intel-powered Chromebooks, the Acer Chromebook Spin 714 gets regular updates until June of 2030, so you can feel good about knowing that if you choose to snag one of these, you can plan on holding onto it for quite some time. Sure, devices like the HP Dragonfly have literally everything you could ask for in one device, but they also command huge price tags. With a starting price of $729, the Spin 714 will only see discounts from this point forward, and in this price range, the Spin 714 is a real contender. When you compare what you are getting in the box to something like the HP Elite Dragonfly Chromebook, the value proposition for this Chromebook is very high. You don’t get the 12th-gen Core i5 and 256GB of storage on the cheap, and when we put those impressive internals inside a device with an aluminum chassis, great keyboard, screen, and included pen, I start to better understand what Acer was aiming for with this Chromebook. I’ve loved my time with it for sure, and I’d bet many of you will as well.

The Acer Chromebook Spin 714 seems to be a reasonably priced laptop that would work well for those in education or those wanting a machine to browse the web, send emails and write up documents. Other than the issue of glitching while running YouTube, I loved the screen; plus, I’d imagine such issues will be ironed out before the Spin 714 is properly released. If this is the case, this could also be a great device for binging Netflix. I also hope that Acer addresses the flexible chassis before final release, since the concern may put people off using the Acer Chromebook Spin 714 as a portable or hybrid device, which is supposed to be its primary use case.
