Análisis para el Alienware M11x R3
It´s about time. It was only a question of time before Alienware created a Sandy-Bridge refresh of its 11.6 inch mini powerhouse for release. At this opportunity the graphics card has also been updated, replacing the GT 335M with the GT 540M. What the cooling system of the M11x R3 has to say about it can be discovered in this review.

Alienware is not a company you’d expect to find featuring on BCW because it specialises in computers for gamers. However, the Alienware M11x R3 is an exception because it’s a great machine for any high-end user wanting the most amount of power for computing on the go―but in a compact form factor. And best of all, battery life hasn’t been compromised.

The top-end M11x R3 that we reviewed is somewhat hampered by the high premium Dell has added for the SSD, making it overly pricey. However, the mid-range models – where the spec can be customised via Dell's online configurator – offer much better value for money. Overall, the M11x is an excellently built and stylish gaming notebook that is genuinely portable, with a great battery life. If you're buying a mid-range M11x R3, minus the SSD and Core i7, then you can safely notch the value for money and overall score up to 4/5.

We expected a lot of the Alienware M11x R3 unit, and for the most part it delivers on its end of the deal. However it has certain drawback such as a relatively average Audio speaker system and the fact that it heats up to quite an extent under a heavy workload, which prevent it from scoring higher.

The Alienware M11x R3 has a solid build quality and its overall performance points to it being a good choice for gamers who are on the move, and who wouldn’t want to go through the trouble of travelling around with a bulkier gaming laptop.

Performance wise the Alienware M11x R3 just edges the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E220 on every benchmark, from encoding to graphics processing to multitasking. The Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830T and the Samsung Series 9 trail significantly. Simply put, if you want a portable gaming machine and you can live without a disc drive, this is it.

The first version of the Alienware m11x showed up two springs ago, and while we liked that machine well enough, for two generations, we've been waiting for the M11x to truly arrive. Finally, it has. Second-gen Core CPU technology, faster graphics, and excellent battery life finally make the M11x R3 the true gaming ultraportable the line was meant to be. Gamers on the go will be smitten.

When Jarred reviewed the Alienware M11x R2, he was so pleased with it that he did the most sensible thing he could: compiled a wish list for the next generation model. Improved connectivity, a better screen, and DirectX 11-class graphics. There was no excuse for omission of gigabit ethernet in the R2, but there wasn't a good, power-optimized DX11 solution on hand at the time either.

Bottom line, if you want a compact, 11-inch laptop that can still play virtually any game on the market there is no other choice than the Alienware M11x.

Alienware no doubt rules the portable gaming laptop space, and it has had little competition (unless you count Razer's Switchblade prototype). The only laptops that come close are in the ultraportable category, like the Asus U41JF-A1. However, the Alienware M11xr3 caters to a niche crowd and while it may not offer the best performance in every test, it excels in the areas that matter most: Portability, gaming, and battery life. That's why it earns our Editors' Choice in the portable gaming laptop category.

Like its predecessors, the third-generation Alienware M11x offers equal parts style, gaming prowess, and portability. As the only true gaming notebook under 13 inches, the M11x is a must-have for anyone who needs a lightweight notebook that's capable of playing serious games. The keyboard layout is somewhat cramped and the Wi-Fi performance is lackluster, but overall the M11x continues to impress.

The Alienware M11x R3 is the best ultraportable gaming notebook that you will find on the Australian market. It's a little heavy for its 11.6in size, but this is because it houses a beefy configuration and has a sturdy build quality. We love the way it looks, we love the way it feels, we love its performance.

No surprise here. Alienware’s MX 11X R3 powered with a new 17W miracle Core i7 2617 UM and equipped with decent Intel HD graphics and Nvidia’s GT 540M is the best gaming rig you can get in the compact 11.6-inch form factor. You will play just about any game available at decent settings.

We’ll make no bones about it: the M11x R3 is a devilishly tempting purchase. Few laptops are capable of treading that line between portability and gaming power with such panache, and while the display is a disappointment, it isn’t enough to destroy its appeal. Junk the overpriced SSD and the Alienware M11x R3 is just under £1,000 of unadulterated gaming-friendly fun. If we had the money, we’d buy one.

When we reviewed the initial version of the M11x on launch day, just over a year ago, we were very impressed by the amount of performance Alienware had managed to fit into such a compact system. It really did allow us to game anywhere. With the third generation product we have a system which has somehow, in such a short space of time, managed to surpass the original by a significant amount.

Pricing starts at £800, however this specific review machine is a higher specified model than the entry level model, costing £1473.99 inc vat. If you can afford it, we would recommend machine customisation with a solid state drive, or add one yourself later. This system really does come to life when you remove the mechanical drive limitations.
