En relación calidad-precio, contar con uno de los mejores procesadores del mercado, una pantalla con 2.000 nits de brillo -pese a los 60 Hz-, una cámara de altísimo nivel con zoom 2x sin pérdida de calidad, y la garantía de que se actualizará durante años, son un seguro de vida. Que los modelos estándar sean los más recomendables no se traduce en que los Pro sean una mala alternativa.

Lo que no me ha gustado es la ausencia de Apple Intelligence desde el lanzamiento, pero espero ver esta IA cuando llegue 2025.

The iPhone 16 is no no-brainer for anyone looking to upgrade especially as it's one of the only devices that will get Apple Intelligence later this year. It features that bold new look, gets the Action and Camera Control buttons plus there's that stupendously fast A18 processor and upgraded rear cameras. The tougher design should also help keep it looking box-fresh for longer and it comes with Wi-Fi 7, eSIM technology for faster set-up (most UK networks now offer this service) and the latest iOS 18 operating system. There's no price rise in 2024, the wireless charging is quicker and there's a bigger battery inside which means you won't have to worry about things running flat. I was on the ground for the 'It's Glowtime' event at Apple HQ in Cupertino, California, and as Tim Cook wrapped up the keynote I dashed out of the Steve Jobs Theater and made a beeline for the media area and the iPhone 16. First, the colors are fantastic and best described simply as 'fun', at least for most shades. Ultramarine (a mix of blues, but don't call it blue), pink, and teal all come together to freshen up the iPhone palette, and look delightful. I think Pro buyers will be a little upset with the vibrant options here, though, given the more neutral shades on offer for the Pro and Pro Max.

Apple A18 GPU: La GPU Apple A18 integra cinco núcleos, trazado de rayos por hardware y soporte de malla. Apple afirma que la GPU A18 es hasta un 40% más rápida que la GPU A16 del iPhone 15. En nuestras pruebas comparativas, la unidad gráfica se sitúa entre la antigua GPU A16 y la GPU A17 Pro con 6 núcleos.

Estas tarjetas también deben ser capaces de aguantar todos los juegos actuales, pero  la mayoría de ellos en configuraciones de detalles medios y bajos y con bajas resoluciones. Juegos más antiguos, o menos exigentes todavía pueden ser jugados con buena calidad de gráficos.

A18: Un potente procesador para smartphones y sucesor formal del SoC A16. Este nuevo miembro de la serie de procesadores Apple A cuenta con 2 núcleos de rendimiento y 4 núcleos eficientes junto con una NPU de 35 TOPS y la GPU A18 de 5 núcleos. Los puntos de referencia multihilo lo sitúan en el mismo rango que el Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 y el Dimensity 9300.
