De 10 a 30 en un año. Tras el lanzamiento del Z10, la empresa canadiense ataca de nuevo con el modelo Z30. Blackberry usa hardware y software de la misma fuente, y conseguir un buen equilibrio es una tarea difícil.

If you are looking to save money on a decent smartphone you could do a lot worse than the BlackBerry Z30. It is a decent 5in handset at a very good price. But if you want a BlackBerry that is truly fit for business, and you are able to spend on a full flagship smartphone, the BlackBerry Passport is a truly fascinating and powerful device. Just have a go with one first to make sure it is for you.

There isn't the app ecosystem of the big two competitors but we can see the BlackBerry Z30 as a useful compromise of the needs of businesses that rely on BlackBerry's security model, and users who'd like something with the touchscreen power of iPhone-based handsets. This big handset deserves to win friends from anyone that can value its secure and robust features.

The inherent security benefits of BES10 and BB10 mean for pure business use the Z30 is a very solid, albeit costly option. However, as we found with the Z10, as a BYOD device, its consumer offering is significantly less developed than competing ecosystems', like Android and iOS. This, combined with the fact the Z30 offers at best comparable and at times worse internal specifications than similarly priced Google and Apple smartphones, makes it hard to recommend the Z30 for anything but pure work use.

Buy the BlackBerry Z30 if you are or have been a BlackBerry user and are looking to stay with the company. If watching movies or having the latest apps comes second to using social networking and messaging apps, and you aren't already invested in any other mobile OS, in that case too, the Z30 will suit you. After spending a good week with the Z30, we find that it’s nothing more than an iterative update to the Z10, with a larger display. There are some welcome hardware additions like better sound, Wi-Fi Direct and bigger battery but most of the changes are software based so the asking price of Rs 39,990 seems a lot. With the Z10 now selling at a more sensible price, we fail to see why one would spend such a premium on the Z30, also considering one can get the G2 or the S4 in the same price range. Both flagships have a vastly bigger feature set, are more powerful and have access to a better app ecosystem. The Z30 makes a good buy if the price drops to about Rs 30,000 but for now, it’s too expensive, even for enterprise users.

The BlackBerry Z30 appears to be a capable, if unappealing smartphone, although it's never going to try and win the hearts of the masses. BlackBerry's core focus now is on the business sector and while consumer sales will continue to trickle through, most people will walk straight past the Z30 as they eye up the cheaper HTC One and Galaxy S4 or shiny new iPhone 5S. We're not sure this is the big hitter we were hoping for when making a sequel for the Z10, and while the Z30 ups the power this could be one of the final devices we see from BlackBerry in its current guise.

The BlackBerry Z3 is a well built budget device. It looks way better than most similarly priced phones. The BB 10 OS is specifically designed to please the messaging junkies. The phone offers impressive music output. On the other hand, the camera lets it down. Plus, it's not ideal for one-handed usage. What makes it a hard sell though is the company's Z10, which is now available at a similar price tag. Currently, if you're looking for a sub-15k Blackberry, the Z10 is the way to go. Once it goes out-of-stock, you can consider the Z3.

Herein lies the biggest conundrum when looking at the Z3 – the AED 899/- price. While the price is very competitive for a phone of its price range, the problem is that the previous flagship Z10 has now been reduced to a similar amount and can be found for cheaper at certain stores. So the question arises – is the Z3 worth buying over the stronger specced Z10? Well, the Z3 has a much stronger battery life and a bigger screen which certainly sounds appealing, so it’s a question of how important those two things are for you. If they are, Z3 is fantastic value. If you value more RAM and a faster processor on a smaller screen, the Z10 is a steal at its current price. BlackBerry Z3 is a successful attempt at a budget BlackBerry 10 experience and one that’s recommended to anyone looking to make the jump.

The two reasons we would recommend the Z3 over the Z10 is if you want a larger display and longer battery life. As an overall package, the Z3 is a very tempting proposition if it drops in price. Once that happens, the Z3 makes a very good alternative to say, the Nokia XL. The slightly better specifications will ensure Android apps run a lot smoother as compared to Microsoft’s offering.

In that context, the BlackBerry Z3 is a solid phone. Comparing specifications and capabilities, it doesn't look good next to Android-based phones in its price range. On the other hand, if you value build quality, deal with hundreds of emails per day and don't have any use for multimedia features, it comes out on top. This phone delivers on the classic BlackBerry promise, finally updated for our century, for those few who still want that.

The BlackBerry Z3 makes a strong case for the Canadian phone maker in the mid-range segment. It steps away from BlackBerry’s usual modus operandi of pricing its phones too high and as a result it is worth recommending as a phone worth buying for Rs. 15,990, if you want a large screen, although a lower price would have made it a much better deal. At about Rs. 16,500, the Blackberry Z10 is a significantly better buy if you’re okay with its 4.2-in screen. Moving away from Blackberry, you can also consider the Motorola Moto G and the Nokia Lumia 720.

This is a hard product to score. If you want a smartphone with a keyboard, and you want it purely for messaging and calls, with a little web-browsing thrown in, the BlackBerry Classic is the perfect device at an excellent price. A five star product. But general smartphone users will be frustrated by the relatively low power, and the paucity of screen space. If you are a BlackBerry fan, you will love the Classic. Otherwise there are better deals elsewhere.

If you’re a die-hard BlackBerry purist and you’ve been waiting patiently to see the Bold lineup make a comeback, the Classic is the QWERTY keyboard-toting, throwback business phone you’ve been waiting for. It’s just as practical as the massive Passport, but it’s actually pocketable and BlackBerry 10 packs in plenty of nifty features. It’s not for everyone though, and its physical keyboard eats up valuable screen real estate, while software keyboards have come leaps and bounds. At £350, it’s not bad, but it won’t set the world on fire - don’t expect it to beat out the latest flagship Android blowers or the iPhone 6, either.

If you are buying a phone for content consumption, then I think you have already made a decision. Yes, the BlackBerry Classic is not for you. However, considering that the Q10 with similar hardware is now available for Rs 24,000, the Classic's Rs 31,000 price tag seems unreasonable.

This is a phone, though, that really should have turned up a couple of years ago when Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 chip was new, in 2012 when it was recent, rather than early 2015 where it feels old and depreciated.

Passing final judgment on the BlackBerry Classic depends on one's perspective about what a smartphone should do. The handset is an excellent business device, but a long way behind the latest iOS and Android smartphones in terms of features that will appeal to regular users. With the above in mind, we must concur that BlackBerry has done a good job with the Classic. The device is targeting the corporate crowd and will tick the right boxes for its members. After years of trying to reinvent itself through various formed smartphones meant to be up with the times, as well as a new start with a totally different platform, BlackBerry finds itself in an unpredictable position – one that’s unquestionably more unstable than not. Failing to capture interest amongst consumers, who have migrated to other opposing platforms, the Classic comes off as nothing more than nostalgia. For the diehard BlackBerry user, it’s that productivity-centric device that helps users to stay busy and active when they’re away from the office, but as a consumer-end product, it fails to spark interest.

This phone is unique, unusual, powerful and it has a brilliant camera and excellent user experience. I had an absolute blast testing this phone, way more than I did when using the LG G6, and when I’d finished testing it I wanted to to carry on using it.

Perhaps a wild card the BlackBerry KEYone could play might be price: make it a couple hundred bucks more affordable and you have an excellent secondary phone for the sales executive, the serial texter, or the stubborn nostalgic. But at S$858, those rushing in may be wise to sit down and work out if they are indeed dyed-in-the-wool BlackBerry fans, for this one's indeed for the fans.

BlackBerry KeyOne is a sophisticated-looking smartphone that resurrects a physical keyboard in the modern Android era. The new BlackBerry KeyOne was an attempt to regain the BlackBerry fans through its physical keyboard and the taste of Android operating system. However, in terms of performance, the device lags behind the competitor’s flagship devices due to the poor choice of the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. However, the main USP of the device is the physical keyboard and the state of the art BlackBerry security. BlackBerry also committed to providing fast and regular security updates to assure the data is secured and encrypted. If you don’t mind having a phone with a screen below 5-inches and miss having a physical keyboard, the KEYone is the perfect combination of Android and a keyboard.

The BlackBerry KEYone is a device that needs to usher in the next chapter of BlackBerry's evolution and a continued desire to make touch and type devices worthwhile. Unfortunately, the KEYone's design and overall experience remain too mixed to be considered a complete offering. As such, in the recent entries of BlackBerry phones, the KEYone is perhaps one of the most underwhelming.

This is a unique smartphone and can't really be judged as an equal with others in its price class. It clearly targets a niche, but what's unknown at this point is whether the target audience is big enough. Even if there are people who like the idea or the memory of a physical keyboard, will they be willing to accept the tradeoffs that this phone demands? In a universe of sleek metal phones with borderless screens and curved glass everywhere, the KEYone is a bit of a brute and we're not sure we would like this as our primary phones, even though we can really make use of its productivity features.

It's fortunate, then, that TCL has done such a good job building extra functionality into the keyboard and throwing in a long-lasting battery that won't force you to look for an electrical outlet just when you need the phone the most. For the multitasker that likes to do everything from social media to managing their emails it will be great for you. Software wise its snappy and its running the latest version of Android which some flagships aren’t. Hopefully it continues this path. Battery life is some of the best I seen on any device thanks to its huge size and midrange processor which is good but also can cause you slight delays maybe doing some gaming or having say 10-15+ apps open at once. But most of all is can you go to a keyboard? I think if you give the Blackberry KEYone some time and warm up to it you might up liking it more than you expect. Don’t forget its unlocked and should play nice with various carriers once you get it in-hand.

The KEYone is not for multimedia lovers. The smaller display simply isn't ideal for watching videos and negates the phone's ability to support VR entirely. Moreover, if you prefer swiping on glass to pressing physical keys then there's no reason to regress to the KEYone. People who value physical keys, strong security options, and powerful messaging tools will find plenty to like in the BlackBerry KEYone. The BlackBerry KEYone is a rather decent, though mid-range, smartphone that gives a respectable throwback to the days of old. However, it doesn’t exist in a vacuum, so we always have to ask why would you want to buy one. If you’re a die-hard BlackBerry fan, you’d probably consider Android heresy anyway and would opt for the large and odd Passport. If you’re a die-hard QWERTY fan, you might be better served by a PRIV.
