With top-of-the-line specs and a silver-white colour scheme, the Dell XPS 13 (9310) comes in an all-metal, very sturdy body. It offers a 4K display with crisp visuals. The overall performance of the laptop is quite fast and the laptop can handle the pressures of multitasking for office professionals quite well. With heavy applications, there might be some heating issues. Lack of ports may be a cause of worry for some. Also, the heat dissipation in the device could have been better. Other than that, there are very few cons one could find with the Dell XPS 13 (9310). At a starting price of Rs 2,09,990, it is a lot to ask for but if you are willing to spend all that cash on a 4K display and a Core-i7 processor in a Dell machine only, the XPS 13 (9310) is a reliable choice.

The Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition isn’t for everyone. There’s no question that users who are already deep into Linux are better off installing their own distros and drivers. But for the normie user who is just starting with Linux. For the normie user who doesn’t want to go through the install procedures. For the normie user who wants to plug and play. The Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition is the perfect device to get them started. That’s why this device gets an Editor’s Choice 2021.

The Dell XPS 13 (2020) with Intel Evo is a gorgeous little machine that offers excellent performance, battery life, and more. It comes at the expense of ports, sound quality, and price, but none of these are enough for us to not highly recommend this laptop to anyone in the market for an ultrabook.

The Dell XPS 13 has been put in the shade recently by Apple’s latest M1 machines, which offer faster performance and superior battery life for less money. But it’s not all bad news for Windows 10 fans and Intel is fighting back. Its 11th gen silicon is showing signs of progress and, as a result, the new Dell XPS 13 is a good notch better than its predecessor. That doesn’t change my overall takeaway that if you don’t mind which platform you operate on then you should switch to one of the new MacBooks. However, if you need to run Windows, the new Dell XPS 13 is a superb laptop on which to do so.

The Dell XPS 13 (11th Gen) largely makes the best laptop around even better, bringing even better speed and better graphics performance in most situations. That’s coupled with the many subtle improvements Dell already made to the XPS 13 this year, including a truly bezel-less InfinityEdge display and an even more comfortable keyboard and touchpad.

Dell’s XPS 13 2-in-1 has long been the standard against which to judge all other Intel-based laptops, with its fit and finish, and its swing-for-the-fences performance. Add the credible gaming chops shown here, and there’s a good chance the XPS 13 2-in-1 will hold the bar for being the fastest 13-inch convertible laptop using the Core i7-1165G7 chip. The waters are admittedly murkier now with Ryzen and even competitive Apple offerings, so we’ll have to see if the XPS 13 can hold onto its leading position.

If you’re deciding whether to buy the XPS 13 or the XPS 13 2-in-1, the differences are simple — but they’re also significant and worth thinking about. The convertible form factor is the most obvious distinction, but I would argue it’s not the most important one (unless your job requires tablet use). You’ll be using the keyboard a lot, so you’ll want to figure out which one you prefer (if you’ve used MacBook butterfly keyboards and other MacBook keyboards, those are a rough approximation). You should also consider the sorts of tasks you’ll be putting your system through and whether a significant increase in graphics performance (especially with demanding games) is worth giving up a bit of battery life. And of course, there’s the price difference.

Overall, we really liked the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1. It has some serious performance and great looks. Dell's MagLev keyboard feels great to type on, and the system was very comfortable as a tablet as well. Battery life was excellent, and there's no shortage of biometric authentication options. Even though our review unit didn't have a UHD+ display, the 1200p display with its extra vertical real estate was a joy to look at and use. We suppose if more web pages scrolled horizontally, it wouldn't be as impressive, but on the web we're using wide screens, in an otherwise vertical world. Those extra pixels simply help to just get that extra little bit on the XPS 13 2-In-1's display. While the price might give some pause, Dell's in-home warranty, smaller footprint, premium materials and beautiful design compared to its direct competition help vault the new new XPS 13 2-In-1 into Editor's Choice territory with us.

Other major complaints I had haven't changed since April though. I still hate that Dell's fingerprint sensors require you to boot the machine before scanning your fingerprint, and I hate that there's no 4G LTE option. Seriously, this is an ultra-portable PC. Dell boasts that it's a 13-inch PC in an 11-inch chassis, so why wouldn't it be built to be more portable and have connectivity for such a use case?

One of the few reasons not to choose the XPS 13 is if you're seeking a robust gaming experience on the side. Intel's Iris Xe silicon is pretty good if you are willing to dial things back (this is not the integrated graphics of a year or two ago), but even so, the Nvidia GeForce GTX-equipped Blade Stealth 13 is likely a more prudent choice, at the minor expense of shorter battery life, a not-quite-as-sleek chassis, and an older-generation CPU. Otherwise, the XPS 13 is the cream of the crop, and retains our Editors' Choice award as 2020's best high-end ultraportable laptop to date.

So overall, the XPS 13 is still an excellent laptop. It’s still one of the best you can buy. But I’m not as starstruck as I was at the beginning of this year, because the competition is creeping up. Zenbooks, Swifts, Yogas, Envys, and Spectres have all made strides in design, build, nifty features, and performance this year — and there are ARM-based Macbooks on the way. There are quite a few releases on the horizon that are looking more and more like the XPS 13.

The Dell XPS 13 continues its reign as an ultraportable powerhouse. I mean, it was already bringing its A-game with a smaller frame, lack of bezels and large, comfortable keyboard. Now with one of Intel’s new Tiger Lake chips, the $1,649 laptop has a solid boost over last-gen systems. It remains to be seen how well the XPS 13 will hold up against similarly specced laptops in this component arms race.
