HTC One M8 vs HTC One M8s comparison: Cheaper, better & just as gorgeous, the M8s is a good deal
Origen: Tech Advisor Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
The HTC One M8s makes an appealing alternative to the HTC One M9 if that's out of your budget. It has a premium design and excellent specs, but it's not different enough to the One M8 for us to recommend an upgrade if you own last year's HTC flagship. If you're considering a high-end HTC smartphone, the One M8 is well-worth investigating and we'll be bringing you our full review soon.

HTC One M9 vs HTC One M8
Origen: Phone Arena Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
Weighing in on what the HTC One M9 delivers over its predecessor in the HTC One M8, we continue to find the good and bad in it. Starting with the former, the M9 is still a darling gem with its meticulous and premium design – even though there are minor changes in tow with it, which we find to be logical in decision. The hardware, too, receives the customary upgrades in the form of Qualcomm’s latest piece of silicon, more RAM, and a beefier 20-megapixel camera. On the software side, the approach is unequivocally the same with the rest of the phone, as the enhancements in tow make it evolutionary by default.

HTC One M9 vs HTC One M8 comparison: new HTC One M9 is HTC's best ever smartphone - here's why you should upgrade from HTC One M8 to HTC One M9
Origen: Tech Advisor Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
More of an iterative upgrade than a must-have change. Evolution rather than revolution. The HTC One M9 is an improved version of the already excellent HTC One M8. This will mean both that the cheaper HTC One M8 becomes and even better deal, but also that the HTC One M9 is a good upgrade from its predecessor. HTC's best ever smartphone: which makes it pretty great.

90% HTC One M8 Review: Android Lollipop Update Rolls Out
Origen: Know Your Mobile Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
The HTC One M8 is a difficult handset to judge. On the one hand, you have the paradox of a device where the emphasis is very much on the good-looking exterior, and yet it seems too fragile to survive for long without cladding it in a protective case – a move which effectively undermines all that visual flair in one go. But, is that enough to counter all the other positive stuff?

90% HTC One M8 review: a great phone made better. The HTC One M8 looks and feels gorgeous, has a microSD card slot and an innovative camera
Origen: Tech Advisor Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
Like the Samsung Galaxy S5, the HTC One M8 has an 'Extreme Power Saving mode' which the firm says will ensure the handset lasts up to 30 hours from 10 percent charge – that's six hours more than the Galaxy S5 in its comparable mode. You're limited to phone calls, texts, emails and the calendar and calculator apps. We tried enabling it with 9 percent battery remaining and there was still charge a full 24 hours later, albeit with very minimal use. As an emergency mode, it's great.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs HTC One (M8)
Origen: Phone Arena Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
If we take size out of the equation, though, the Note 4 has a clearly pronounced advantage: its brilliant Quad HD display is a beauty to behold with its accuracte colors, while the screen on the M8 does not look bad, but lacks that color fidelity, then, the Snapdragon 805 system chip on the Note 4 is an improvement over the 801 on the M8, and finally, the 16-megapixel optically stabilized camera is among the best smartphone shooters out there, while the M8's UltraPixel camera is not all that capable. Where M8 still comes up is the stylish unibody aluminum body, but hardware-wise it is just not as impressive.

Sony Xperia Z3 vs HTC One M8 comparison review: Two of the best smartphones of 2014 - but which is best?
Origen: Tech Advisor Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
These are two stunningly closely matched handsets. Both are well built and powerful, fast and with great displays. Ultimately your choice will be a subjective one on design and build, with the added spice that the Xperia Z3 probably marginally shades the objective comparison - but you can get the HTC One M8 a little cheaper. iPhone 6 vs HTC One M8 comparison: The HTC One M8 has Apple's style, but can do no more than match the iPhone 6's performance
Origen: Macworld.co.uk Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
Our iPhone 6 vs HTC One M8 comparison shows us that Android phones are now every bit as capable as iPhones, although not in this case sufficiently different or better to make us want to switch. The HTC One M8 enjoys excellence in design and build, is a top performer and has a beautiful display. Storage options are limited, but an expansion slot is a bonus. If you are an iPhone user it is unlikely you will decide to upgrade to the HTC One M8 rather than the iPhone 6, but if you want to move from iOS to Android you could do a lot worse.

80% HTC's top-end phone offers a fine blend of aesthetics and performance.
Origen: Techtree.com Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
HTC has done an excellent job in terms of aesthetics. It's undoubtedly the most premium handset from the Android camp. Along with its pretty looks, the handset is quite a beast when it comes to performance. Be it audio, video, or gaming, the One (M8) does a great job. Like any other phone, this one isn't perfect though. The biggest concern here is its 4 megapixel (ultrapixel) camera that stands no chance against the competition when it comes to image quality. Moreover, display could have been a lot better. Considering all aspects, the HTC One (M8) (Rs 41,000) is your best bet if you're looking for powerful and flaunt-worthy Android device. But, if the camera tops your list of priorities, you should consider the LG G3 (Rs 42,700).

Apple iPhone 6 vs HTC One (M8)
Origen: Phone Arena Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
It is never easy to pick a favorite among phones that have so much to offer. One thing's certain, however – whether you pick the iPhone 6 or the HTC One (M8), you will receive your money's worth in exchange. You just need to know what your priorities are when making the choice between these two great models. When it comes to design, the two phones stand in the same league with their meticulously crafted metal bodies. But the iPhone 6 is definitely the more compact one with its slim and lightweight construction. The M8 might be larger and heavier, but its offers a bigger screen with higher resolution and a pair of great front-facing speakers.

LG G3 vs HTC One M8 head-to-head review
Origen: V3.co.uk Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
With the G3 having won four rounds to the One M8's three, the LG handset is the winner of this versus review. Featuring a superb display, good security features, a lightning-fast camera and being slightly cheaper than the One M8, the G3 is currently one of the best Android smartphones currently available. But with the One M8 offering a more lightly skinned version of Android, better battery life and slightly more consistent performance, there is still plenty to like about the HTC phone. Those unconcerned about the G3's security upgrades would still do well to check it out.

LG G3 vs. HTC One (M8): Duel duo
Origen: GSM Arena Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
We wish HTC had made more of an effort to keep the bezels in check as the One (M8) is a large phone. Also, you're essentially limited to Instagram photography, but if you want dependable performance, great build and solid battery life, the HTC One (M8) is on the shortlist of phones to consider. The LG G3 meanwhile delivered some disappointments alongside its stunning achievements, but it is essentially the only current Android flagship phone with Optical Image Stabilization. The camera in general is very good, the screen and faux metal body are great if not excellent. If LG would only do something about that battery life.

There are two key sticking points, however. The first is that its biggest rival, the Samsung Galaxy S5, brings even more significant changes, including a new camera autofocus system, water- and dust-resistance and a bigger battery, plus fingerprint and heart-rate sensors. The second is that the Nexus 5, although not as impressive, costs $500 less. The HTC One (M8) is a cracking smartphone, and is packed with useful and clever features, but if you’re on a budget, it isn’t revolutionary enough to justify the premium over a Nexus 5.

HTC One (M8) vs Sony Xperia Z2: Unsafe mode
Origen: GSM Arena Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
All things considered, there's a reason why Sony's been doing so well lately. The Japanese are looking extra solid in the midrange - and that's admittedly an HTC weak point. With that kind of backup from the ranks, Sony's new 6-month release cycle doesn't look like a gamble. Theirs is the standard-setting mini version of a flagship too. OK, that's a good few things HTC can learn. But with the HTC One (M8), it is still perfectly able to prove that building a proper flagship isn't one of them.

LG G3 vs HTC One M8 comparison: best smartphone display takes on fastest, most stylish phone
Origen: Tech Advisor Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
It's difficult to be entirely prescriptive without fully testing the LG G3, but this much we can say: both the HTC One M8 and the LG G3 are great handsets, and they will cost around the same. They are fast and well built, they run full (recent) versions of Android, and offer great storage expansion. On the one hand the LG G3 definitely has the better display, but we feel that the HTC One M8 is likely to have the better camera, and is arguably better looking. Ultimately your decision will be personal. For me I'd opt for the HTC One M8 simply because it looks and feels so great, and I care more about build than display quality. Your decision may differ!

It’s tough to pick the best out of the current three flagships as they are far from all-rounders. The Sony Xperia Z2 probably comes closest to being the jack of all trades but its current price is a bit of a put off. Also, the LG G3 launch is just around the corner and if the rumours are true, it might just give everyone a run for their money. On paper alone, the Sony Xperia Z2 appears to lead the pack. With an extra gig of RAM over the competition, a promising stills- and video camera that lets you display 4K footage on your 4K TV, one-touch sharing, listening, mirroring and backup via NFC, a gorgeous screen, excellent dust- and waterproofing credentials and the largest-capacity battery prior to the existence of any power-saving mode, Sony is surely on to a winner with the Xperia Z2. HTC has pulled off a blinder with the HTC One. It’s a gorgeous phone with a beautiful screen, and we think it's a more desirable handset than the Sony Xperia Z. Given you can move BlinkFeed out of view, the HTC One should appeal to everyone. It will be especially tempting to those who crave the low-light capabilities of its camera. Its metal chassis is also a big selling point - nothing else out there, bar the newer and more expensive One (m8), can match the One's build quality. If you want a seriously classy phone but can't stretch to the One (m8), the original One could still be worth your time.

80% HTC One (M8) review: Can it succeed where version One failed?
Origen: NDTV Gadgets Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
The HTC One (M8) is not a radical departure from last year's HTC One. It's a solid update, but isn't new or exciting, and definitely isn't worth upgrading to if you currently use any of last year's premium phones. The M8's major competition will come from Sony's Xperia Z2 and Samsung's Galaxy S5, both of which offer similar or better specifications. The M8 will have to rely on its premium build quality and camera gimmicks to appeal to buyers, and perhaps a price cut sometime mid-lifecycle. Meanwhile, Samsung and Sony are experimenting with (and making big noises about) waterproof bodies, heart rate sensors, 4K video recording, fingerprint readers, smart accessories, and much more. This is exactly the strategy that led HTC to where it is right now, and it looks like history might well repeat itself.

The HTC One M8 is certainly one of the more powerful smart phones that I have come across. The Samsung Galaxy S5 gave it a run for the money, but the HTC One M8 ultimately came out on top today. There are a couple of ways that you can purchase the HTC One M8, the M8 can be purchased on a contract for only $199.99. This is based on a two year contract which prevents you from upgrading very soon. If you’re looking to upgrade sooner than with the 2-year contract you can jump on the AT&T next program. The AT&T next program tacks on a monthly installment payment to your bill. The AT&T next has a pair of options available for the HTC One M8, the Next 12 or Next 18. The Next 12 allows you to upgrade in 12 months with an installment payment of $32.00, the Next 18 is an 18 month upgrade cycle with an installment of $24.62. The final option for you is to buy the HTC One M8 outright, this will hit the pocket book for $639.99. Doing this means that you can upgrade anytime you want to without any restrictions.

The HTC One (M8) Google Play Edition is arguably the best version available, and at the very least, the most flexible. It's unencumbered by any carrier bloat or OS update delays, and thanks to HTC's decision to move many of its features to the Google Play app store, you still have the option to pick and choose features you do happen to like. You also don't lose useful features like Motion Launch and can still access the interesting depth effects of the Duo Cam. Overall image quality seems to take a hit, but it's the exact same hardware, and Google has already proven its commitment to update camera performance with timely updates. All told, the One (M8) GPE is an excellent choice for the design conscious Android purists out there, but the $350 Nexus 5 hangs on to our Editors' Choice award thanks to its unbeatable value.

HTC didn’t need to reinvent the smartphone with the all new HTC One. The handset that preceded it established the company as the maker of high-end, premium Android devices, so all that was needed was to build on this solid base. And that’s exactly what HTC did in creating the One M8; this is a smartphone filled with improvements. The HTC One M8 is a truly fantastic smartphone, and its few shortcomings can easily be overlooked in favor of a solid feature set in a premium body. All in all, I found the HTC One to be an excellent phone all-around. By improving all aspects of the previous handset, HTC has gotten to a point where it got just about everything right (design, responsiveness, camera interface, typography…), and the real question is whether or not you like the design of the phone and if you are OK with the low-resolution of the otherwise excellent 4 Megapixel camera. If that’s the case, I would give a 9/10 review rating. If you need photos for non-web usage, then I would drop the rating to 8/10.

HTC made my job incredibly easy with the HTC One M8. In terms of beauty, quality, and feel, there aren't many devices worthy of comparison to the One M8. I went looking for major gripes to have about the phone, but struggled to come up with any aside from the camera and aforementioned inconsistencies across carrier models. It wasn't a struggle to find faults with the HTC, but it was difficult to find faults big enough to make me not love the device. My appreciation for the 2013 HTC One has been well-documented on this site, so it shouldn't surprise anyone to learn that my new favorite phone is the follow-up that made that device more appealing. The HTC One M8 is the best Android phone at the time that this review is published. It might have that distinction for only a few days considering what's on the horizon, but the One M8 is a phone unlike any other.

HTC has carefully crafted a fine smartphone for 2014. By all means, the One (M8) is a flagship that will be in the same category as the Galaxy S5 and every other top tier device introduced throughout the rest of the year. The HTC One (M8) is an eminently desirable smartphone, and not just for metal fetishists – it’s very fast and (with the new microSD support) more flexible than before. Plus innovations like the Dots case add distinctive flair. My main bugbears were the wasted frontal real estate and the relatively disappointing camera, but the first might have been unavoidable from a technical standpoint and the second is subjective since it depends on what sort of things you want to snap and what you’ll do with the JPGs afterwards. The HTC One range just got extended in style, but owners of the original should probably sit tight on the 2013 model and save their pennies.

HTC One (M8) deep-dive review: Smartphone sophistication made better
Origen: Computerworld.com Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
The new One has a huge list of impressive qualities: The phone is beautifully constructed, with an all-metal body that gives it a distinctly premium look and feel. It has a gorgeous display and outstanding speakers. The device provides great performance, commendable battery life and a polished and cohesive software experience. Its unique dual-camera setup opens the door to some interesting photo-editing opportunities, too, and HTC's "UltraPixel" technology shines when it comes to capturing photos in low-light conditions.

HTC One M8 vs iPhone 5s comparison review: Duo Camera takes on Touch ID fingerprint scanner
Origen: Tech Advisor Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
The iPhone 5s and HTC One M8 are closely matched on price, build quality and performance and there's no clear winner. The M8 benefits from more versatile storage, a bigger screen, customisable software and its unique Duo Camera. Meanwhile, the iPhone has a better all-round camera, a fingerprint scanner and simpler software.

Origen: PC World Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
If the new HTC One would have adopted some of the Moto X’s stylings—for those of us not keen on the aluminum finishes—and always-on processing capabilities, it’s likely this would have been one of our highest rated Android handsets. That doesn’t mean that the One isn’t a total package. It comes standard with a totally capable camera that can take low-light photos, a premium build, amplified volume to aid in shower singing, an efficient battery life, and a simplistic Android overlay that isn’t bogged down with bloatware.

HTC One M8: Reg man takes spin in Alfa Romeo of smartphone world
Origen: Reg Hardware Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
HTC has clearly worked very hard on the One: the problem it has is that it's starting in the same place as all its rivals. With the latest chips from Qualcomm and latest versions of Android from Google, it's very hard to differentiate. There are some nice accessories like a case which shows the time through holes when you tap on the phone, and the camera is clever, but ultimately its greatest strength is the design and that's never turned Alfa Romeo into a BMW beater.

New HTC One (M8) versus iPhone 5s comparison review: Hyped HTC One M8 doesn't convince as an iPhone killer
Origen: Macworld.co.uk Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
Is the HTC One m8 good enough to topple the iPhone 5s? The remarkable media hype the smartphone has received in the past couple of days has been astonishing, but we're not convinced. It's a nice phone - both phones are sleek, powerful devices with numerous technological advances on their sides - but we'd want more to persuade us to leave behind the comforts of iOS.

The best part of the entire HTC One M8 experience, for me, is the knowledge that the company is going to be active in making sure the phone continues to improve and evolve. The camera app, Blinkfeed, and several other critical parts on the HTC One M8 are all going to be updated through the Google Play Store, which means HTC can add features and fix bugs on the fly instead of waiting for a carrier update.

Overall the M8 is a valiant effort from HTC - it’s better than its predecessor is all the key areas including display, performance and battery life. It’s the best Android phone so far in 2014 but with the Galaxy S5 set to drop in early April, the M8 is unlikely to hold onto this title for long.

Wrapping things up, the HTC One M8 improves upon almost all areas over the original HTC One. The updated design is simply gorgeous and new hardware makes the phone fly when it comes to launching and moving between applications. The larger screen and larger battery are also noticeable and so is the audio from Boom Sound speakers compared to the older HTC One. But even with all these tweaks over the original, there isn’t anything substantially new for me to recommend a current owner of the HTC One to go out and buy the new HTC One M8. Your current HTC One is still an excellent product and you can find comfort in the fact that HTC will continue selling the older model as well as issue an update to bring many of the software related features to your phone.

Having thoroughly tested the HTC One M8, we have to say it is a very good smartphone. Featuring a wonderfully crafted yet robust metal design, powerful Snapdragon 801 processor and number of key software additions that aid, rather than detract from, Android 4.4.2 KitKat's core offering, the One M8 is currently one of the best smartphones available. However, with its biggest competitors – the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Sony Xperia Z2 – yet to hit the market, it's too early to say whether the One M8's charms will stand the test of time.

The new version of last year's popular HTC One is called the HTC One M8 - In brackets because that's the phone's model number. See also: HTC One M8 review. Like the other 2014 flagship smartphones, the device isn't a big leap in technology compared to its predecessor. Instead, HTC has taken an already brilliant smartphone and made it better with fine tuning.

Put simply, the HTC One (M8) is every bit as enjoyable to use as its name is difficult to pronounce. It’s beautifully built, beyond user friendly, as cutting edge as you can get right now and packs clever camera tech we think is going to become the norm in mobiles very soon. It says a lot about the work HTC’s pulled off here when the only real complaint we can level at its new flagship is that it’s a little bit too long.

HTC One M8 vs Google Nexus 5 comparison review: which is the best Android smartphone?
Origen: Tech Advisor Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
As we noted when we originally reviewed the Nexus 5, it has the specifications to rival flagship Android phones, but at a much lower price. For a shade under £300, you get a great smartphone with only a few compromises. One is the plastic body, another is the lack of expandable storage. The HTC One M8 may have an aluminium shell (and a choice of three colours) and feel much more like a premium phone, but you'll also pay for the privilege: £550 if you buy it outright with no contract.

The One doesn't have a fingerprint sensor to bypass the security code on the lock screen. The iPhone 5s has it, as will the Galaxy S5. HTC One M8 Review (2014)
Origen: Slashgear Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
HTC could've played it safe with the new One. Followed the crowd; put in a fast chip and a big display, and taken the easy route. Whether that would've actually done the firm any good is a question we can't - and needn't - answer, since instead the One M8 tries to push the boundaries of what we've come to expect from a smartphone. What remains is the really difficult stuff. Competing with the monstrous advertising budgets of Samsung and Apple. Delivering the sort of timely software changes the One M8 opens the door to. Convincing would-be users that Android isn't synonymous with Galaxy. That's a journey that will take time, but the 2014 One M8 is an excellent place to start.

Chucking more of everything at your flagship phone seems an all-too easy way to get yourself to the top, but in HTC’s defence it’s not nearly as simple as it sounds. There’s a careful balancing act to be achieved. A bigger screen requires more power, more power requires more battery, and all of these things require more room – hard to find without messing up a design thought by many to be the most stylish ever to grace an Android handset. But will they actually perform better, and will they be as nice to hold and to live with? That's far less certain - but it won’t be long before we find out. Until then, enjoy your time at the top, HTC.

The older HTC One will continue to be sold be the time-being (presumably at a reduced price), though it will eventually be phased out. But there’s no doubt that the HTC One M8 is a fantastic improvement on what was already our Phone of the Year in 2013. There was potential for the M8 to be the HTC’s difficult second phone, but HTC has done a fantastic job identifying the small improvements that could be made on the HTC One and implementing those. Tiny changes like moving the headphone jack, improving the build quality are all very welcome, and sit nicely alongside the big improvements to the screen, and power and photography features.

Origen: Techradar Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
The HTC One (M8) is a brilliant smartphone with very few flaws. Its main strength is design, but I don't think that's a negative thing as many brands still seem keen to race on specs rather than attracting users when they wander into a shop to a buy something for two years (at a rather high price). If the HTC One (M8) isn't the smartphone of 2014, I'm very, very excited to see what the competition will come up with as this handset strikes the perfect blend of design, performance and innovation without really compromising in any area.

The HTC One M8 is the phone equivalent of the tricky second album. The HTC One was such a critical hit that it’s not going to be easy to top. However, it is a significantly more powerful phone, and while the dual camera needs a bit more tweaking it offers masses of creative potential. We’re looking forward to spending more time with this phone.

Finally, a note about the case. You can buy a $50 “dot case” with the phone. The front side is covered with holes, and the phone senses when it is closed. Tapping the phone when the case is closed reveals the current time and weather in a large, retro-pixel, format through the case. It’s pretty cool. But when you open the case, it doesn’t fold completely back on itself. That makes it awkward in a way I could forgive on a $10 or $20 case. But at $50, that shouldn’t be happening.

HTC One (M8): First impressions

HTC has also included a 2600mAh battery with the One (M8) and thrown in a 'Extreme Power Saving Mode' that basically turns into a touchscreen feature phone, as users only have access to calls, messaging, calendar data and calculator app. There are no notifications, data connectivity, or access to any other apps. This 'extreme' mode is designed for situations when you expect to be away from a power source for long durations (say when you go camping) or when you are expecting an important call, only to realise you are on the road and almost out of battery. We can see this coming in handy, if it extends the battery life as advertised.

iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5 vs One M8 head-to-head review
Origen: V3.co.uk Inglés EN→ES Archive.org version
While the Galaxy S5 and iPhone both won three rounds - although one of the Samsung handsets was technically a tie with the One M8 - for us at V3 the Apple handset is the overall winner. Even though the Galaxy S5 can theoretically feature more storage, has a longer battery life and better camera, the iPhone 6 countermands this for enterprise customers by offering improved security and better assurance that it will be able to receive future software updates.
