Honor Magic 2 is a premium phone done right. Slider seems more of a novelty than a necessity in the phones right now. Unfortunately, the phone is not available in India and is unlikely to come in the near future. With capable phones such as Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Google Pixel 3 XL already around, we don’t think you should take the pain of buying this phone from China for the just slider. And if you like the slider, you may consider Oppo’s Find X.

There’s plenty that’s good about the Honor Magic 2: it’s fast, has a decent screen and fast charging. It’s a shame then that the design feels like it’s been built to generate headlines rather than offer a good user experience.

Our first glimpse of the Honor Magic 2 was back in August over at IFA 2018. Huawei’s sub-brand teased the phone with super slim bezels, a Kirin 980 processor, and a slide-out selfie camera. We knew it was coming soon and as a video teaser showed, it arrived with a slider camera design. It was teased several times before the official launch a couple of months ago, making an impression with a total of six cameras and that slide-out mechanism as revealed by a teardown analysis.

The Honor Magic 2 definitely has the “Wow!” factor of the Vivo NEX S and the beauty of the OPPO Find X. And that’s pretty much it for the Honor Magic 2. We’re still playing with it and will be giving you our full take on the device once we’re done. While Honor hasn’t officially announced if the phone is making its way to the Philippines, the phone was sent by the brand themselves so we know they’re at least thinking about bringing it over. The phone is priced at RMB 3,799 or around 29K without taxes for the 6GB/128GB version, so it’s a great budget flagship for people looking for an alternative to the usual suspects.

Both the Honor Magic 3 and 3 Pro phones have high-end specs. It seems clear that if you can afford them, these models might be a good investment. As it is expensive, expectations must be high and it does a perfect job as there are no complaints. Starting with the OLED screen, the best chipset, amazing cameras, and battery, each section is perfectly crafted. As the price is different, the two phones have minimal differences. Another interesting point to note about these phones is that they are the first IMAX-enhanced phones that offer unique 3D LUTs and video recording in LOG format. Therefore, these AI effects in videos make them more interesting and cinematic. If you are looking for an alternative option, you can check out the Red Magic 6R smartphone.

Unlike the “drum kit” on the upper half of other mobile phones, the rear camera of Honor Magic 3 Pro can be said to be the most balanced and beautiful of all top flagship mobile phones, almost flush with the back cover of the mobile phone , but it also achieves a full focal length. Image capabilities. In an environment where everyone blindly piles up and fights for the bottom, Honor chose multi-camera + computational photography to ensure that the whole machine feels light and thin . This is very important for the comprehensive experience of mobile phones, and it is also a new direction for image development.

The Magic3 Pro+ delivers an excellent audio experience overall, forcing the Black Shark 4 Pro to share its top-score crown. While playback is slightly impaired by minor flaws, the phone remains very well-suited for listening to music, watching movies, and playing games. The brand that was unable to capture most of its potential users because of Google Play Services can now enter their hearts. We can expect an increase in the international sphere. Although this phone is only restricted to a certain segment, it will definitely create a fascination for smartphone lovers across the world. It seems that the brand gains strength with its return. With the great screen, powerful processor, and mind-blowing camera, this is definitely a good buy. Due to delays in the international market, you should be calm until it starts operating in other countries. Also, you should consider checking out your alternatives. At a similar price, you can check out the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G that might be your big competitor in the global market.

The Honor Magic V demonstrates that Honor can build a folding phone that appears, at first glance, to rival the offering from the likes of Samsung. However, with limited availability for this device, you're unlikely to be able to buy one unless you're in China.

Honor’s foldable Honor Magic V combines cutting-edge performance with a slim profile for a foldable phone. There are a couple of spec compromises when compared to Samsung’s latest Z Fold 3 – there's no dust or water resistance, a 90Hz display versus 120Hz, and no wireless charging – oh, and thus far, it’s only available in China. Nevertheless, in-person, it feels premium and looks slick on first impression.

Despite not having a major camera brand name to work with, Honor has created an impressive camera setup for the Magic4 Pro. The company's work in image processing in particular stands out, but the hardware looks quite capable too. And it looks quite well, arranging all those sensors in an attractive fashion isn't easy. The 6.81" display on the front may be too large for some, but if you are prepared to live with those dimensions, this is one of the most capable OLED panels around. At €1100, the Honor Magic4 Pro is priced to compete with flagships from Apple and the best Android makers. That sets expectations to "high", but Honor has put together a compelling package with no obvious weak spots. Aside from one, perhaps, we need to clear up how many OS updates the phone will receive and for how long it will continue to get security patches. As for the Honor Magic V, it is one of the best foldables we've handled to date. It's priced out of the mainstream market, but well-heeled early adopters will love it.

Overall, Honor Magic V has made it possible for users to “one in place”. From the comfortable 21.3:9 external screen to the multi-level optimization for the large screen, the Magic V makes it easy to use both internal and external dual screens. In addition, the new Snapdragon 8 processor it is equipped with makes it have strong performance, and the carefully polished design makes it full of advanced sensors, while the 50-megapixel rear triple camera, 66W super fast charge, 4750mAh large battery, etc. The top-level configuration makes the overall experience of the phone better, and it is worth buying. Glory, which has been independent for more than a year, can be regarded as a firm foothold in the market after obtaining the third good result in domestic sales. On this basis, consolidating its advantages in the high-end market has become the most urgent task for Honor. After the excellent Magic 3 series in 2021, the Magic V with many cutting-edge technologies is believed to be a brand new weapon for the Honor brand, making the high-end road of Honor go more smoothly.

The Honor Magic 4 Pro is an overall very good device from an audio perspective. As a playback device, it does equally well for music, movies and gaming, making it a great all-rounder for smartphone users who rely on the built-in speakers. The device offers a pleasant midrange and good attack rendition, with sharp transients. It also offers a wide stereo soundscape where individual voices and instruments are easy to locate. On the downside, the tonal balance lacks some low-end and high-end extension, making it a little thin, and the minimum volume step is too quiet, which means it’s not ideal for listing to softer sound, such as classical music. The Magic4 Pro does well for Playback but is even better as a recording device, offering good performance across all our test attributes. It’s a very good option for recording in all sorts of situations, including concerts, meetings, and voice memos. It also sounds great when recording sound with main camera or selfie videos. Our testers found the device to be particularly good at dealing with high sound pressure levels, where it still offers a nice tonal balance and envelope as well as great intelligibility. Audio zoom works very well, too, allowing you to focus on one particular source of sound and drown out all the rest.

The HONOR Magic4 Pro is a great way for the company to break the ice as they seek to mount a comeback to the Philippines. It’s a great offering that delivers on performance with its processing package and cameras. However, there are a few kinks that need to be ironed out to make the experience even better. All in all, the Magic4 Pro is a fantastic reintroduction of the brand to the Philippine market and it does make us look forward to what they have in store for us in the future.

There's a lot to like about the Honor Magic4 Pro - it looks stunning, the fast-charging is amazing (every modern flagship should charge from 0 to 100 in 30 minutes, if you ask me), and the camera system is pretty versatile. The latest Qualcomm chipset makes this phone fly, and have I mentioned the screen? It's amazing - bright, easy on the eyes, crisp - one of the best in the business. There are, however, a few caveats that come with this far eastern beauty. For starters - the price is very... premium. The Honor Magic4 Pro costs 949 pounds in the UK (US price to be confirmed), and that's a lot of money to blow on a phone with the Honor moniker. No disrespect toward the brand but when your main competitors are Samsung and Apple, and their models come in cheaper, you're in for a tough ride.

The Honor Magic4 Pro is an excellent phone; its pricing, however, puts it in direct competition with flagship phones widely available with financing from US carriers. That, along with the fact that the phone is still hard to find in the US, makes it less likely this phone will take the US by storm. Even so, it is good to see Honor back on the stage!

On paper, the Honor Magic4 Pro is a contender that could go head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, but it can’t quite live up to those expectations in the real world. Honor still has its work cut out for itself if it wants to truly compete in the premium flagship segment in Europe and other markets. The hardware is on point, Honor’s software team needs to deliver one or two updates before the Magic4 Pro truly shines. The good news is that Honor is back where it belongs, filling the void left by Huawei and giving us more options on the high end of the market. The Honor Magic4 Pro is a solid first step towards Honor’s return to dominance in the market. It’s not quite as good as the Galaxy S22 Ultra or the OnePlus 10 Pro, but it’s a great alternative if you’re looking for something that stands out in a crowd.

The Honor Magic4 Pro display put in a strong performance for color rendering, with colors that were well managed in all tested conditions. The device’s high screen-to-body ratio and a basically flicker-free display also meant that the Magic4 Pro had very few artifacts, which earned it a high score in this attribute. However, the device was a bit fickle when it came to brightness in low-light conditions because the brightness level would depend on the app in use. For example, the screen would be noticeably too bright when browsing the web in low-light conditions. Unstable brightness levels in low-light conditions also affected the video-watching experience, as did the noticeable frame drops. Our testing showed that the Magic4 Pro had many more frame drops than the Magic4 Ultimate. This is a good device for gaming thanks to a fast touch to display response time and a good smoothness.

The Honor Magic4 Pro’s battery was excellent in charging, but the device fell short on autonomy. Despite having a sizeable 4600 mAh battery, the Magic4 Pro could not reach 2 days of autonomy in the typical usage scenario; nor did it perform well in the calibrated and on-the-go tests. The device’s discharge currents were higher than average in nearly all the test cases, something that was similarly observed on other devices equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The Honor Magic4 Pro, however, handled charging very well. Thanks to its 100W charger, it took only 22 minutes to fill the battery to 80% of its capacity. The wireless charging was even more impressive, taking only 34 minutes to reach the 80% mark and making the device one of the best in wireless charging that we have tested so far. On average, a quick 5-minute charge yielded an ample 6.5 hours of autonomy. In the Ultra-Premium device segment (> $800 at launch), the Honor Magic4 Pro takes the top spot in the charging ranking, but lingers near the bottom in the autonomy and efficiency ranking.

The Magic 4 Pro isn't a revolution in mobile technology and doesn't offer any particular "must-have" features that separate it from its rivals. But it doesn't really need to. It's a high-performance flagship Android handset that ticks all of the boxes of a top phone thanks to its great performance, solid camera, fast charging and 5G connectivity. Its price is high, but it undercuts the S22 Ultra while costing almost exactly the same as the Pixel 6 Pro and OnePlus 10 Pro (with 256GB of storage). While I think the Pixel, with its stock Android 12 interface has a smoother user experience on a day-to-day basis, the Honor has a more potent processor and offers significantly faster charging speeds, the latter being of particular use if you frequently forget to fully charge your phone overnight.

It’s great to see Honor return with a fully-fledged flagship device, and the Magic 4 Pro certainly has a number of eye-catching features. From the ultra-fast 100W wired and wireless charging, the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, the 50MP main camera that delivers great photos, and the unique camera housing, Honor’s flagship is a sign that the brand is once again on the up. This is good news for the smartphone industry that in Europe at least, has been dominated by the BKK stable and Xiaomi over the past couple of years since the Huawei ban came into effect. However, taking off the rose-tinted glasses, it’s clear that Honor’s work isn’t done and that the Magic 4 Pro relies a little too much on sentiment and its past to be truly considered as the equal of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, or even the OnePlus 10 Pro. And that’s fine because despite having a £949 price tag in the UK, Honor is bundling in a case, Earbuds 2 Lite, and Watch GS3 with the phone which adds value to the proposition. The HONOR Magic4 Pro brings a lot to the table with great value for its top-notch features. While Magic UI can be a bit of an eye sore and requires a lot of tweaking on the user’s side, it is a compromise that I’m willing to make if it means getting the superfast biometric security options and the ultra-sharp cameras at a price point that is not completely unreasonable. While the 100W wireless charger costs an additional RM299, I can’t see myself going back to using other wireless chargers that now feel unbearably slow, by comparison. It is a phone that I would recommend with heavy caveats, but with a thumbs up nonetheless.

Only if you’re feeling particularly adventurous. There isn’t really a monetary advantage when it comes to the Honor Magic4 Pro compared to other flagship phones. At €1,099, it’s an incredibly expensive handset that’s right up there with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the iPhone 13 Pro, all while carrying a lot more risk with it. As beautiful as the hardware is, Magic UI still can’t compete with other Android skins and tries to copy iOS just a little too closely. Further, Apple and Samsung support their devices with software updates for more than four years, and Honor is still a newcomer in this market that doesn’t offer the same promises, stopping at Android 14.

So, is the HONOR Magic4 Pro for you? That’s a question only you can answer. The Magic4 Pro is not perfect, but not a single phone is. This phone does feel really premium in the hand, and it’s quite large. The pill-shaped camera hole is not the most fortunate solution, but it likely won’t bother many of you. The performance is quite solid, the camera setup is good, and the sound quality is excellent. The software needs to be further polished, and so does the overall performance. I also have a feeling that HONOR can further improve the camera experience, as the included hardware is excellent. This is already quite a compelling smartphone, but with a couple of updates, it can become truly great. As things stand at the moment, I do believe there are better offerings out there in this price range. Things could change after a couple of software updates, though

As is always the case I will be using this phone as my daily driver for the next few weeks in order to evaluate the phone and give my opinions. One thing I will say is that from using it just for the 1st few hours it is very nice to be suing a true flagship grade phone from Honor. I feel that they may even be able to fill the void that has been left by Huawei, as they in my humble opinion have dropped off in the UK due to the lack of Google Mobile Services. Only time will tell if this lofty claim is to be truly lived up to but I have high hopes and I am looking forward to testing this device out.

The Honor Magic4 Pro is an awesome phone that's rather easy to recommend. It offers premium hardware and features sprinkled with some rare functionalities such as Ultra Wideband, high-frequency PWM backlight control, and an advanced facial unlock in combination with a great ultrasonic fingerprint reader. It also has a whole bunch of video recording and editing tools and the memory config. It's just that we are used to seeing Honor's flagships as somewhat more affordable than the rest. Instead, the company tries to tackle the best in the ultra premium segment. And there is nothing wrong with ambition. They've come up with a great product - even with the issues we've outlined in the review such as the unimpressive ultrawide camera low-light performance, the short battery life, the erratic and unpredictable switch between the main and telephoto camera and the arguably insignificant software annoyances. We are sure the Honor Magic4 Pro will find its place under the sun, especially in a few months when the dust settles and the pricing makes this great phone a considerably better deal.

The Honor Magic 4 Pro is in a weird spot because while it pulls off some things spectacularly well, it falters in others. The cameras are good though have major autofocus issues, the battery life is good at the expense of computation, and the software is good though lacking in some features. Every positive has an associated negative, and for the money, that’s a lot of sacrifices. While I’m glad that Honor is back, there’s a lot of work that needs to go into the company’s software before I can wholeheartedly recommend this phone. It’s a shame that the smartphone landscape is the way that it is currently, as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 seems to be a key cause of a lot of the issues smartphone makers are facing currently. Given the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 though, maybe things will get better for the second half of the year.

The Honor Magic 4 Pro has a great 120Hz OLED screen and an impressive camera system. Fast charging is hardly a novelty these days, but the fast wireless charging that's also on offer here is rare. Still, the battery capacity could be bigger and there is a lot of unnecessary software on-board, while the absence of a MicroSD card slot might disappoint some people. Even so, the Honor Magic 4 Pro is a very credible flagship smartphone.

The Honor Magic4 Pro sits just below the top-of-the-line model Magic4 Ultimate in the Honor smartphone lineup and uses many of the same components, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and a 6.81-inch OLED display with 1312 x 2848 resolution. In the camera module, the 3.5x tele module is the same as in the Ultimate, but both primary and ultra-wide cameras use smaller sensors than in the flagship model, and they don’t come with optical image stabilization. Let’s see how the Honor Magic4 Pro camera compares to the Ultimate and competitors from other brands in the DXOMARK Camera tests.

The Honor Magic 4 Pro represents a very strong flagship debut from the former Huawei sub-brand. It takes much of what we’ve always liked about Huawei’s premium hardware, with a sleek design, an excellent display, and a fine all-round camera system, but restores that reassuring Google support – even if Magic UI continues to be a second-tier Android skin at best. The phone’s stamina is a little lower than some of its rivals, which is a disappointment, but Honor partially makes up for this with blistering 100W wired and wireless charging support. All in all, the Magic 4 Pro sits just a bit behind the best that Apple, Google, and Samsung have to offer, but it has enough unique flourishes to make it a viable left-field alternative to any of them.

You can still see the Huawei DNA at work in the Magic 4 Pro, and I do wonder how long it will be before Honor's fully abandoned the tech of its previous owner. But looking at the phone we have right now, it’s one of the best Android phones that still deserves to be counted alongside Samsung and OnePlus. The Magic 4 Pro packs a lot into its frame, like the five rear cameras, clever display, facial recognition unlocking and 100W charging capability. The good news is all of it works really well, the only exception being the lower quality low-light photos. That could be a deal-breaker for some users, but I still consider this one of the most effective camera set-ups available on a smartphone today. U.S. users will have to stick with the Galaxy S22 Plus or the OnePlus 10 Pro if they want a sub-$1,000 flagship Android device, but they won’t find quite as many toys for the price as what Honor offers with the Magic 4 Pro. However, those toys only work at their best for specific people who will invest time into making them work.

Honor has done a good job at speccing out the hardware of the Magic4 Pro. Its cameras are high resolution, it charges incredibly fast, its screen is beautiful (curved edges notwithstanding), and overall, the device’s hardware succeeds at having that premium flagship feel. If you want a phone that can wirelessly charge faster than many other phones can do over a wired connection, then the Honor Magic4 Pro is very happy to oblige. But I was never won over by the experience of actually using the Honor Magic4 Pro. Whether it was the occasional software hiccups, the aggressive background app management, or the lock screen shortcut that got in the way too often, it often felt like wearing a pair of shoes that were just half a size too big. When a phone costs as much as a Samsung or Apple flagship, you might find a better fit elsewhere.

When Huawei sold Honor, back in 2020, many people were skeptical about the divorce, and suspected some kind of an affair still going on behind the curtains. There were even allegations that the Honor Magic 3 Pro model is just a rebranded Huawei Mate 50, although both companies firmly denied those rumors. Holding the Honor Magic 4 Pro in my hands, I can see where all this is coming from. There certainly are similarities between some devices from the ex-married couple but at the end of the day, It really doesn’t matter all that much from a consumer's point of view. I highly doubt that anyone could ever know the 100% truth behind the split. The practical result of it, however, is the fact that we now have another high quality brand to compete with the usual suspects, and this time with Google Services on board. The Magic 4 Pro looks like a high-end flagship through and through, and it should tick all the proverbial technology boxes. From the 6.81-inch LTPO OLED display to the 100x zoom telephoto lens, this phone holds a lot of promise. Time to go deeper!

Honor set out to build a best-in-class flagship with the Magic 4 Pro and it’s a welcome return to the flagship space for the company. However, while Honor succeeded in most of its ambitions, it also missed the mark in several key areas that make it a tough sell. The phone’s camera package excels at portraits and selfies but is less good for landscape detail and general flexibility. Performance and battery life are great, but the 100W charging promise is a bit of a gimmick. Magic UI 6 is a solid piece of software, but the company’s two-year update promise is a real concern for a phone that’s this expensive. I could go on. For everything the Magic 4 Pro does right, there’s a fine detail that Honor didn’t quite nail. Honor has put together a superior hardware package to the Google Pixel 6 Pro (£849) in some regards, particularly in the charging and biometrics departments. Portraits and selfies aside, though, I’d argue that Google’s cameras still take the better pictures on average, while five years of security updates make the phone a no-brainer as a long-term investment.

I’ve missed seeing a new Huawei smartphone with Google Mobile Services installed, but when I use the Honor Magic4 Pro, that feeling goes away. From the outstanding ergonomics to its promising camera and super-fast software, the Magic4 Pro is very much how I imagine a 2022 Google-equipped Huawei phone operating. This isn’t a knock against it, it’s actually a very big compliment. Ignore the Huawei-like positive aspects and there are some negatives, with the uninspiring battery life and slightly disappointing screen performance lessening its appeal against the competition. This is a particular problem when you consider the high price. But neither has taken away from how much I’ve enjoyed using the Magic4 Pro. It has slipped into my life without incident, proving to be reliable and easy to use, plus the camera is shaping up to be a winner.

The much-needed improvements in the camera, processor, display, and battery give the Honor Magic 4 and 4 Pro smartphones an incredible value in the flagship market. If you want a flagship smartphone with incredible cameras, then you can’t go wrong with either of these two smartphones. Both the smartphones will provide an excellent flagship experience but if you want a slight edge in the display, camera, charging capabilities, and water resistance, then the Honor Magic 4 Pro model makes more sense. Considering the specs and the experience the phone provides, the price of both smartphones is justified. But if want an alternative to compare before you make your decision, then the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is quite the competitor and can go toe to toe with the new Magic 4 and Magic 4 Pro series.

The Honor Magic 4 Pro is a significant first step for Honor into the world of premium smartphones. This device is certainly feature-packed, and it could attract customers to the brand with its impressive camera system and attractive screen. However, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the design.

Honor Magic 4 Pro, as Honor’s top machine king of the year, can be said to have no shortcomings in the design of configuration this time, and almost every configuration is top-level, and there are leading technologies. For example, in terms of screen, the technology that supports both LTPO and 1920 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming is very rare on other mobile phone. The multi-lens fusion photography technology in image photography also belongs to the current leading state. The optimization of the Snapdragon 8 processor, coupled with the 50W wireless fast charging technology for 100W wired customers, also maximizes the performance of Honor Magic 4 Pro. Honor Magic4Pro as the top machine king, this time is undoubtedly a success!

Having recently reviewed the best phone I have ever used and then one that any other company apart from Google would have consigned to the bin 18 months ago this was always going to be, shall we say, difficult. In the past I have reviewed several other Honor offerings, so to be as fair as possible I took a good bit longer before presenting my thoughts.

Undoubtedly, the Honor smartphones have lost their legacy, but still, there are fans like you and me who are excited about their upcoming phones. Although, the Honor Magic 4 Lite is not one of those devices that gives any out-of-the-box that the current market is not offering. The positive side of this phone would be the camera experience and long-lasting battery, while the design and build aspects varied from user to user. So, if you are not a huge phone of Honor phone, then we won’t recommend this phone in the first place. Instead of this, you can check out the Samsung Galaxy A53. With this phone, you will gain all-rounder specs and will provide great value for your money. But still, the final decision should be based on your preference only. So, compare them and choose anything that fits your needs.

The Honor Magic 4 Lite 5G’s battery performance was excellent overall, showing that it was a well-balanced device with very good autonomy, an excellent charging experience, and decent efficiency. During the typical usage scenario testing, which is done using the device’s default settings, the Honor demonstrated very good idle management and excellent autonomy. During this series of tests, however, we noticed that the device’s automatic display brightness was relatively low when the screen was in very bright light conditions compared to other devices. While this could have contributed to the excellent autonomy results, it also had an impact on the user experience. The same screen behavior was also noticed in the on-the-go tests. During calibrated tests, in which the brightness is set at 200 nits, the device struggled when streaming videos, with below-average autonomy. The gaming performance, however, was decent. The 66W travel adapter charged 80% of the large 4800 mAh battery capacity in only 28 minutes, and took 43 minutes to a full charge, which is much faster than the average.

The Honor Magic 4 Lite 5G/X9 5G is an impressive 5G device when it comes to performance, but its media potential suffers due to dismal speakers and bizarrely inconsistent camera results. And yet, there’s so much to like. The battery life is good, the screen is huge, and it doesn’t sacrifice power to chase that 5G dragon. However, those aforementioned rivals from the likes of Xiaomi and OnePlus are cheaper and have superior AMOLED screens so if they are available where you live then they make for better buys.

The Honor Magic4 Lite appears to be ill-equipped the tackle the competition. The software feels unfinished and lacks basic features, the display is LCD while most alternatives offer OLEDs, the loudspeaker quality is subpar, the camera experience just isn't up to the snuff, and there's no microSD card slot. Unfortunately, aside from the 5G connectivity, the good battery life with fast charging and the big screen, the Magic4 Lite doesn't have a lot going for it. And we are not sure Honor can leverage its past brand loyalty to entice users to get a product that's not very balanced, to say the least. Perhaps your money is better spent elsewhere, and there are even cheaper options.

The Honor Magic 4 Lite looks impressive. With a sizable 6.81-inch display, it's bordering on being a (just about) pocket-sized tablet. The sleek black exterior might be plasticky, but it feels good in your hands, giving you the impression it's a premium-priced device for less. That's almost the trend for the Honor Magic 4 Lite. It offers a lot to like and ticks many of the most important boxes, while costing a reasonable £319 (around $390 / AU$565). However, it also misses the mark a few times, meaning this isn't a hidden gem of a bargain. As with most phones at this sort of price, you'll need to compromise and focus on what is most important for you.

With a DXOMARK Selfie score of 122, the Honor Magic4 Ultimate offers a capable front camera for daily front camera photo and video capture, but it did not make it among the very best selfie shooters in our testing. Selfie aficionados with money to spend will find better alternatives in the Ultra-Premium segment. Both still images and videos showed good exposure and fairly accurate white balance. A wide depth of field helped keep multiple subjects in focus. However, our testers observed skin-tone issues in some scenes, and a lack of dynamic range meant that highlight clipping was noticeable on some images.

The Honor Magic4 Ultimate is the Chinese brand’s flagship device, featuring top-end specs all around, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G chipset. The rear camera features a 1/1.12″ 50MP sensor, one of the largest we have seen on a phone and the same size as on last year’s Mi 11 Ultra, in the stabilized primary module. The ultra-wide and tele modules both come with a 1/2.0″ 64MP sensor and offer a focal length range from 11mm to 90mm equivalent. The camera also features a flicker detection sensor that is used to guide the exposure system by capturing ambient light and that helps to prevent banding artifacts. A spectrum-enhanced camera (not activated yet with the tested firmware version) captures additional light information from the near-infrared part of the light spectrum which enhances the clarity and dynamic range of images in outdoor conditions. The camera also uses fusion algorithms to improve texture at the center of the frame when tele zooming. In addition, tele quality is improved through combining optical image stabilization (OIS) and AI super-resolution algorithms.

The camera, processor, display, design, and battery performance are some of the main attractions of this phone. If you want a flagship smartphone with the best possible camera system looks no further. If you ask us, the Magic 4 Ultimate’s camera is not only excellent in terms of actual hardware, but its image processing capabilities are also equally impressive. This is one of the best camera smartphones and fulfills photography needs. The price is a bit on the higher side, but considering the performance of the camera and the flagship value that you get, we believe the price is justified. If we have to pick an alternative instead of this, then we would recommend the Sony Xperia 1 IV smartphone which is petty close in terms of camera and performance.

In this review, we take a look at how it performed in our comprehensive array of Display tests. With an overall score of 95, the Honor Magic4 Ultimate puts in a strong performance for many Display protocol attributes, with especially good color rendering that puts it at the top of the charts as of this writing. Its only real drawback is for touch, where it doesn’t feel smooth in any of DXOMARK’s use cases.

Although the Honor Magic Vs battery’s global score was below average, its battery results were quite good for a foldable device. The Magic Vs slightly outperformed other foldables in our database in autonomy and showed a significantly better charging experience. When used moderately, the Honor Magic Vs provided a decent 2 days of autonomy, which is below average but slightly better than the other foldable devices we tested. The autonomy when calling and streaming music was also decent. However, usages such as streaming videos, using the camera, and gaming, which were tested unfolded, drained the battery quickly, resulting in below-average autonomy. The Honor Magic Vs came with a powerful 66W charger that provided a good charging experience. It took less than 30 minutes to charge 80% of the battery capacity, and 1 hour and 13 minutes to reach a full charge.

The Honor Magic Vs isn’t the very best full-sized foldable on the market, but it takes some calculated risks in order to offer an alternative. It’s in the same ballpark as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 in a number of key areas, including design, display(s) quality, and performance, but for several hundred pounds less. Its best features relate to the way it feels while closed, with a relatively slim build and a gapless hinge. The external screen, meanwhile, is technically the better screen of the two. Perhaps the main concern is that Honor’s approach falls somewhat between. If you’re willing to spend £1,400 on a phone, you’re presumably expecting the very best, or close to, of everything. You simply aren’t getting that here, with glaring omissions such as wireless charging and an IP rating.

You simply aren’t getting that here, with glaring omissions such as wireless charging and an IP rating.

As far as foldable Android phones are concerned, the Honor Magic Vs does enough to keep it from settling down at the bottom of the foldable handset market, thanks to a premium design, competent software, and a specs sheet that won’t leave you scratching your head. While the device is more suited for content consumption and productivity, that doesn’t mean that other factors such as camera performance are left in the dust. There are considerations to keep in mind, however – the lack of any IP rating might be a turn off for more meticulous users, as well as the visible crease in the display which lacks any specialized protective glass of some sort. It’s in areas like these where it is trumped by the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which features IPX8 certification, and additional input functionality by way of S-Pen support.

The Honor Magic Vs display provided good brightness in indoor and low-light conditions, which makes it ideal for looking at pictures or social media. But in outdoor conditions, the device’s readability was affected by the screen’s middle crease, where reflections were intrusive compared to the competitors. The main screen’s performance was less satisfactory when gaming because of the lack of smooth interactions and because of visible aliasing of images. Additionally, the device, as many other foldable phones, was affected by the jello effect: when scrolling down a slight lag is perceptible between the right and the left sides of the display. The display’s colors were rendered well, the device provided good color uniformity, and the angular color consistency was satisfying. Although the device lacked some brightness when watching HDR10 videos, its HDR10 tone mapping was impeccable. The Honor Magic Vs was the first foldable with a (nearly) flicker-free display that has been tested so far by DXOMARK.

The Honor Magic Vs delivered a good performance in the DXOMARK Audio tests. For a folding device, the results were particularly impressive in recording, thanks to very effective background noise cancellation and a very good audio zoom. However, our testers found the Honor to be sensitive to wind noise, and sonority could be slightly underwhelming in both playback through the built-in speakers and recording. In playback, the Honor Vs achieved the best results when used for listening to music but also did very well as a gaming device or when watching videos and movies. Audio recordings were most impressive with the main camera app, but the front camera’s and the memo app’s audio quality was not far off.

I suspect there may be two kinds of people out there who might consider buying the Honor Magic VS. The first are the people who definitely want a foldable and who are considering saving some money by going with the Magic VS over the Z Fold 4 (or, indeed, the upcoming Google Pixel Fold or Z Fold 5 that Samsung is expected to announce this summer). The second are people who wouldn’t normally consider buying a foldable but who are tempted by the more affordable price of the Magic VS. I’d struggle to enthusiastically recommend the Honor Magic VS for either group. If you’re already sold on the idea of a foldable, I think it makes sense to pay for the higher level of polish of Samsung’s product. And if you haven’t been convinced by foldables in the past, I don’t think the Magic VS does enough to overcome their historical limitations to be convincing. The Honor Magic VS might be a more affordable foldable option. But when you’re priced at £1,399, “more affordable” isn’t the strongest argument.

That’s not to say Honor hasn’t made some progress. I think the extent to which the phone is usable in its folded, smartphone-style form is impressive. I like that Honor is testing the phone to last more folding cycles, and if you’re the kind of person that bristles at the idea of a premium-priced phone coming without a charger in the box, then you’ll like that there’s one here. So there you have it my review of the Honor Magic Fold Vs. This is an important phone for Honor as mentioned as it is them making a statement that they want to play in the Foldable market on the global stage (the previous Magic V was a Chinese-only release) and they have come out strong and also undercut their rivals in the space in doing so. However, I do feel that whilst the hardware is something for the most part I prefer, with the exception of the hinge mechanism which is too prone to unfolding when you don’t want it to, there is til work to be done on software. Honest ly this conclusion surprises me as i thought that i would prefer the implementation of the more clean Ui over what is offered by Samsungs One Ui on the Z Fold 4.

The Honor Magic Vs feels like it has arrived a little too soon, yet I first used the phone in November 2022, so this isn’t a brand new device that has just this moment come to life. Unfortunately, the software feels unfinished, only the main camera takes good photos, the battery life is only decent when you don’t push the phone too hard, and not all apps are optimized for the big screen. The Magic Vs is here, but it probably needed a little more time in the lab. It’s unfortunate. The hardware is impressive, and the overall design looks excellent. But it’s hard to avoid the lack of dust resistance, wireless charging, and a hinge that doesn’t immediately lay flat. I had high hopes for the Honor Magic Vs when I first tried it, but after using it every day for several weeks, it has not managed to capitalize on this early goodwill.

The Honor Magic Vs is an impressive foldable phone, and a notable step up in quality from the first-gen Magic V. The hardware is slick, with a slim body and secure hinge design, and this base look and feel definitely trumps Samsung’s offering. Faster charging and more powerful rear cameras give the Magic Vs an extra edge. But in a phone at this price point, the lack of software polish is a major drawback – and features like waterproofing and wireless charging look like unacceptable omissions. Honor hasn’t quite beaten Samsung at its own game – but it gets kudos for being the only company brave enough to try.

Honor's second-ever foldable looks like a considered update on the original that's ready to take on a global audience. With the chipset at play, a staggered release might place it a little behind the curve when it does eventually arrive, but it looks as though it has enough clout and style to turn heads and steal some of the bigger players' thunder.

With properly premium looks, a respectable main camera for a foldable and convincing battery life, the Honor Magic Vs could be a contender in the folding phone world. Samsung should be taking note, and everyone else has some real catching up to do on the hardware front. It also proves Honor has successfully escaped the budget/entry-level niche it used to be pigeonholed in, and stepped out of the shadow of former owner Huawei. Its secondary snappers are weaker, though, and even the main sensor can’t compete with similarly-priced traditional phones for quality. Honor has work to do on the software front. The last-gen processor only gets a short shelf life before the competition arrives with newer silicon – albeit at a higher price – and there are a few missing features we’d expect from such a premium product, like wireless charging and water resistance.

I do prefer the feel of the slightly wider folded phone and using it in this way feels more natural than on the Fold 4, the differences in terms of hardware are not so apparent when you unfold it though as the Fold 4 uses this mode better in terms of software and that outweighs the benefits of the reduced groove in the middle of the display. I have had a few days of use of the Magic Vs under my belt by the time I have written this and i will say that there are some big differences here and they will be what really makes or breaks this as an option for me especially as i have been living with a 4th gen product for some time now. I will also be getting an update on the pricing ad availability of the Honor Magic Vs 5G in the UK soon which I will share with you very soon. if you are thinking of getting a folding phone then watch this space as things are about to get more interesting and the Honor Magic Vs 5G is going to play a big part in that.

I’m hoping this will change in the near future; even if the local arm of the brand just decides to do a very limited number of sales because having more options will be better for consumers and will breed even more competition for the brands, which again makes the consumer ultimately win.

The Honor Magic Vs' presence in the global foldable phone market is overall a net good, since Samsung has had little meaningful competition outside China for years now. But by debuting a phone designed for 2022 in 2023, the Magic Vs is already looking a bit behind the times. Two things you can't take away from the Honor are its lower price among foldables and great build quality (hinge peculiarities aside). Both qualities will remain strengths, even after the next Samsung and Google foldables appear. Hopefully the Honor's battery life lead will remain intact, too, but I don't hold out hope for its cameras or performance to stay competitive. I don't recommend rushing to buy the Honor Magic Vs if you do happen to be living in Europe (especially since it's not on sale yet). It's likely best to wait a few months and see what the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Pixel Fold have to offer when they arrive. But if you're after a foldable phone now, particularly if it'll be your first one, the Magic Vs feels like a great way to bridge the gap.

Any scepticism I had about the future of foldables has well and truly dissolved after using the Honor Magic Vs. The phone’s premium build never left me with any worries where durability is concerned, and I’ve come to appreciate having the larger screen to hand when I want to dabble in a bit of work or catch up on the latest must-watch TV show. Even though the Magic Vs is reasonably priced against the competition, particularly for the specs you get, it still requires a serious investment and unless you envision making the most of its design, it’s difficult to recommend to the majority of people over a traditional handset. There’s also room for improvement where software is concerned, but this feels like more of an issue facing the foldable market at large. Still, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Honor Magic Vs, and if you’re looking to take the plunge into the world of foldable phones then Honor’s handset is a great place to start.

This isn’t a terrible smartphone, but it suffers from various frustrating problems that see it fall far behind the industry behemoth that is the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The technically “old” processor is unfortunate, too, especially because the price is still high. A series of software updates may help the Magic Vs in the future, but for now, it’s not the big-screen folding smartphone to buy.

Overall, this is a second-generation product that still feels a bit like a first-generation product. Honor spent a lot more time focusing on the hardware of this phone and probably not enough on the software side of things. It's like buying a 95-inch TV without bothering to subscribe to cable or streaming services. Sure, you can watch TV over the air but ... you're missing the point. I absolutely love the hardware on this phone. It is so good, and the fact that the gap is just flat-out gone is amazing. The design on the back of the phone is a sparkly matte finish with a fun-shaped camera bump. All of that is great, but the software has a long way to go before it's on the same level as, say, a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, and the price needs to be lower. But this phone is competition for Samsung which is hugely important. Samsung has virtually owned this space, at least in western markets for years, so it's exciting to see a very good competitor slot in at number two. Plus, the issues that the Honor Magic Vs suffers from can very easily be addressed going forward with updates, so I'm happy to say, "Honor, you have my attention." In some ways, that's enough.

The Honor Magic Vs has all the makings of a true combo breaker — an affordable foldable with premium stylings and enough performance to be an effective daily driver. There are some cutbacks like the lack of an IP rating to keep that cost down, but if you’re passionate about making the jump to a versatile form factor, these are easily forgiven.

Our Honor Magic Vs review is here! We've been hands-on with the new foldable for a little over a week and in this video, we'll explain why #Samsung needs to keep an eye on its Chinese competitors. While the #HonorMagicVs might not be YOUR next phone, it is an exciting device that should cause Samsung to raise an eyebrow and consider how to improve the Fold’s design and performance for the next generation. The #Honor Magic Vs isn’t cheap at €1,599 and as of recording, we don’t have any word on availability, either on release dates in Europe or whether or not this device will ever make its way stateside.

The Honor Magic Vs is an impressive piece of technology at the same level of system performance, design excellence, display quality, and camera performance as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, its nemesis. The slight difference in our rating is justified by the absence of water resistance which is important for any device above $1500, and a better user experience for productivity and multi-tasking found in the Samsung device. The Honor device certainly feels thinner and more agreeable to hold in the hand than the Z Fold4, with a better camera, for 200 euros less.

There's a lot to like about the Magic Vs and a lot that you'd think Honor should have gotten right for its second-gen foldable, but it hasn't. Key among the missed opportunities is the lack of true camera functionality on the cover display in the unfolded state - this way the Magic sacrifices one of the major selling points of the form factor. Sure, the inherent advantages of a large display in a physically small device are there and productivity is reasonably well taken care of in the software, but we want our rear-camera selfies! The Galaxy is ahead here. There are also a couple of features missing which are normally not to be expected from a handset of this kind, but the benchmark that the Honor is measuring up against has them, so they're hard to overlook. We get that Honor was going for lightest with the Magic Vs, but how much heavier would it have been with a wireless charging coil inside? Water resistance is probably tougher to achieve, likely more so from a warranty and after sales perspective than the actual sealing, but in the end the Honor isn't rated for it.

Honor is the first to challenge Samsung in the foldable segment outside China, and the Magic Vs gets a lot right. The design is absolutely gorgeous, and the large outer screen makes it much more usable than the Z Fold 4. The hinge is lighter and feels smoother in daily use, and you get the best battery life of any foldable. The cameras also measure up to other foldables, but it's the software where things fall apart. MagicOS 7.1 misses out on basics like an app drawer, and you don't get any of the foldable-focused features Google introduced over the last 18 months. It's still a great phone, but Honor needs to overhaul the software to give Samsung a run for its money.

So, with all that being said, should you buy the HONOR Magic Vs? Well, only you can answer that question, but we can help you come to a conclusion. This is a very good phone. It does have some advantages over the Galaxy Z Fold 4, its direct competitor, but HONOR has to offer more software-wise. If you’re annoyed by the gap on the Galaxy Z Fold 4, or simply want a thinner foldable, this could be the phone for you. It offers great performance, really good battery life, solid cameras, good audio, and has good displays. There’s really not much to complain about here. Well, the price is quite high, so that may put some of you off. If that’s not a problem, however, do consider the Magic Vs.

Stop me if you've heard this one before: "great hardware, undone by under-done software." If that sounds like a line straight out of a Huawei phone review from 2016, well, that tracks. Because Honor began its corporate life as a youth-focused sub-brand of that now-beleaguered behemoth, and even though Honor is now an independent phone maker shipping its first global foldable (Google apps and all) … well, a lot of its software still feels stuck in Shenzhen. Still, it’s early software, and it’s a folding phone – from a brand that historically has competed on price. So the Honor Magic Vs might be an important step toward broader foldable adoption … if that price is right. From Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, I'm Michael Fisher – and this is MrMobile's initial review! (NOTE: MrMobile was informed late in the review process that the Honor Magic Vs software would receive an update before release. That update will address, among other things, the missing app drawer – though more details were not immediately available. If the Magic Vs user experience changes significantly in the time leading up to release, follow-up coverage may be warranted. Stay tuned!)

A €1,599 price tag is a bitter pill to swallow for any smartphone, even a foldable. But considering that HONOR’s competition charges closer to two thousand Euros (and sometimes more) for similar specs and features, the Magic Vs is definitely a more palatable option. Especially so for anyone considering their first phone-tablet-style foldable or that has been longing for a HUAWEI-like foldable with full access to Google apps and services. The HONOR Magic Vs doesn’t feature the latest-and-greatest chipset or class-leading displays but it does offer a very good set of compromises for the price and the camera is not one of them. It has great battery life, solid performance, super-fast charging, good cameras and displays, and a lot to like. It’s a bold entry to the global foldable market for HONOR and a good one at that. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 ($1799.99 at Samsung) still offers a more rounded overall experience, but all competition is good competition. The more rivals Samsung has, especially with lower price points and comparable feature sets, is ultimately better for consumers. With more book-like foldables expected to drop in 2023 from the likes of Google and OnePlus, the competition is expected to heat up even further. But whatever happens, HONOR has already claimed itself a spot in the big leagues.

On paper, the Honor Magic Vs has serious features to seriously compete with Samsung and its Galaxy Z Fold 4. The simple fact that it can fold completely flat gives it a head start in terms of form factor. Ditto at the level of fast charging which is far, far ahead of what Samsung offers. And the quality of the displays of the Magic Vs is not left out either. I found them both very bright. But I regret that we can not really bend it at 90 ° to make a mini-laptop. The main lens of the photo module looks decent just like the selfie camera, but the 8 MP telephoto lens does not necessarily excite me. In any case, I find Honor's philosophy quite interesting with this dual approach to the use of its screens. A screen for business and everyday outdoors and a screen for games and multimedia indoors. I've never seen Samsung talk or consider its Galaxy Z Fold like this.

With properly premium looks, a great set of cameras and very respectable battery life, the Honor Magic Vs is a serious contender in the foldable phone world. Samsung should absolutely be taking note, and everyone else has some real catching up to do. It also proves Honor has successfully escaped the budget/entry-level niche it used to be pigeonholed in, and stepped out of the shadow of former owner Huawei. This is every bit the premium phone. There are a few missing features that would put it truly toe-to-toe with the Galaxy Z Fold 4, like wireless charging or a water resistance rating, but hopefully that’ll be reflected in the price. Honor has so far only confirmed Chinese customers can expect to pay ¥7499 (around £880). That does mean by the time it lands we’ll likely have rivals with newer, more powerful CPUs – but as long as it can undercut other foldables on price, we don’t think that’ll stop you from seeing plenty of ’em in the wild in 2023 and beyond.

There's no doubt that Honor is setting this phone up to be a no-compromise flagship folding smartphone. It's powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, has a beefy 5000mAh battery and a strong triple camera system without any low-resolution junk cameras. We think the big draw for this phone will be the big exterior screen that offers an experience very similar to a traditional smartphone. It's not skinny, narrow and cramped like Samsungs, and the hinge design means the phone shuts completely flush too, delivering quite a sleek footprint for a phone which is pretty big. Although it misses wireless charging and an official waterproof rating, the rest of this phone sets it up to be a strong performer and - but without the optimised software - it may not be quite ready to be a genuine competitor to Samsung's flagship foldable.

Are you looking for a folding smartphone? First look at Samsung's Z Fold effort, laugh about how it looks like a wedge of cheese, and then do yourself a favor and buy a Magic Vs instead. It looks terrific, has incredible engineering on the foldable aspects and the innovative hinge, has two stunning screens, plenty of chops in the processing department, and the camera is brilliant. If you don't love it, I will eat my entire collection of hats. Honor once again shows it is a tenacious brand, that isn't scared to take risks and kick sand in the faces of big smartphone brands like Samsung, and for that, you gotta love 'em.

The Honor Magic Vs leaves me with a mixed verdict. It’s clear that it offers some of the finest hardware you can get if you’re in the market for a foldable in the foreseeable future, even if it still uses the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. The battery is incredibly enduring, the hinge is stable, the phone is lighter than it has any right to be, and the crease isn’t too bad. I still don’t love the exterior screen that’s curved to one side only, but that’s the only big hardware trade-off I can point to. The software is a different beast, though. Honor did find its own way around the foldable form factor, not relying on Google’s taskbar, which feels a bit like reinventing the wheel for the sake of it. On the other hand, the company has used its sidebar long before Android 12L’s taskbar was around, so Honor users might feel right at home. It’s still a bummer that Honor chose not to implement other Android 13 features, like Material You-themed interfaces and per-app language options. It also doesn’t help Honor's case that 2023 might just be the year of the foldable. Tecno just launched the cheapest book-style foldable yet at MWC, Google is all but confirmed to bring its own Pixel Fold this year, a OnePlus foldable is right around the corner, and Samsung will almost certainly not rest on its laurels with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. If you’re in the market for a foldable and don’t want to wait for the competition, and you value a great hardware experience more than impeccable software, the Honor Magic Vs is a great choice. Honor announced that the Magic Vs will grace Europe in May, and it will cost €1,600 in its 12+512GB variant.

The Magic VS is a huge leap forward in making foldables cheaper to assemble. #HONORMagicVs #MWC23 #UnleashthePowerofMagic

The Honor Magic Vs is establishing itself as a strong candidate in the foldable smartphone market thanks to its properly premium look, a fantastic set of cameras, and very decent battery life. It’s a solid-feeling, attractive folding phone with two large displays and a hinge mechanism that allows the phone to fold shut. With the main display of the Vs having a refresh rate of “only” 90Hz, there is already obvious room for improvement. Some features, such as IP rating as well as wireless charging, are lacking. I don’t believe Honor’s foldable will outperform Samsung’s Fold 4. However, Samsung should make note, while everyone else has a lot of catching up to do. In any case, the Magic Vs demonstrates that Honor isn’t content to merely exist in the market; rather, it is eager to push the boundaries and compete with the best and biggest foldables available.

Now, as I said, I can’t make any solid conclusions about this device, but what I can say is that I really think it’s worthy of a full review when it hits global markets early next year. And that there’s enough here to say that Honor may be making a very compelling case to be spoken about as a fair competitor to Samsung at the highest end of the Android space.

To sum up, the Honor Magic Vs can definitely be called the most powerful and perfect internal folding mobile phone at present. The self-developed hinge and 5000mAh large-capacity battery take into account both the thin and light body and strong battery life. In the new operating system MagicOS With the blessing of 7.0, the system experience is also the top among folding screen phones. At the same time, the Honor Magic Vs also introduces many innovative functions, such as the ability to transfer 5 million U-shields based on a secure memory chip, the voice control brought by the perception of breath, no need for wake-up words, and the large-screen folding mobile phone has a similar The pad-like large-screen experience and operation logic, these many practical functions, are the innovations of Honor, and strive to differentiate and make a unique display in the field of folding screens. Although it misses wireless charging and an official waterproof rating, the rest of this phone sets it up to be a strong performer and - providing Honor can optimise the software well - a genuine competitor to Samsung's flagship foldable.

With properly premium looks, a great set of cameras and very respectable battery life, the Honor Magic Vs is shaping up to be a serious contender in the foldable phone world. Honor has so far only confirmed Chinese customers can expect to pay ¥7499 (around £880), with a UK release to be announced early next year. That does mean by the time it lands we’ll likely have rivals with newer, more powerful CPUs – but as long as it can undercut other foldables on price, we don’t think that’ll stop you from seeing plenty of ’em in the wild in 2023 and beyond.

Sadly, the Magic Vs that we had with us wasn't quite ready. That is to say, it was running a global variant of the Honor in-house OS with full Google Play support; it's just that it wasn't in a final, review-ready state. That was unfortunate, because we would have liked to explore it in more detail and run the barrage of tests we normally do, but that wouldn't have been fair on the Magic. We'll then reserve final judgment for when we get to experience a commercial-grade sample (there might be an 'if' in there too, we'll see). As it is right now, the Magic Vs is looking promising, that's for sure.

Samsung has had a monopoly on the global foldable scene for a few years now. This changes in early 2023 as Honor is set to launch its foldable phone internationally, meaning in Europe and Asia! The Magic Vs features a 7.9-inch large internal screen, with a 6.5-inch outside screen. The phone is the lightest foldable around at 262g, and packs a 5,000 mAh battery. In terms of hardware, it is looking impressive. I'll be back with a full review.

The HONOR Magic V2 Ultimate is currently only available in China at a starting price of 8,999 yuan (~$1,255) for the 16GB/256GB model. Despite being shown off at IFA 2023, we’ll have to wait until Q1, 2024 to get pricing and availability info for the global version. Nevertheless, HONOR has listed the device on its website in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. These listings don’t include a price but we’re guessing that it’ll start at €1,599 (~$1,735) at the very least, much like the Magic Vs.

After reviewing all of those factors, the Honor Magic Vs Ultimate foldable smartphone does charge more than $500 from the standard version, which is roughly a 50% price boost. Only for a faster chipset, a bit more RAM support, and Ceramic coating provided on the secondary display. However, you are also paying for the inbox stylus with this phone. But still, the software end is looking tempting with robust support. In addition to that, there are three alternative options currently available in the market. If you prefer Samsung devices, you can check out the Galaxy Z Fold 4 for decent features and better pieces of specs. On the other hand, you can also consider an excellent foldable smartphone option that you can check out later on. Apart from this, choose the best smartphone according to your needs.
