Intel Core 2 Duo P8600

Intel P8600

El procesador Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 es un procesador de doble nucleo para portatiles. Funciona a 2.4 GHz y tiene uan cache de nivel 2 de 3MB. Debido al menor tamaño de la cache (los modelos Core 2 Duo de la gama T tienen usualmente 6 MB a esta velocidad de reloj), el TDP es de solo 25 vatios (en lugar de los 35 de los modelos T).

Debido a la velocidad de reloj relativamente alta, juegos modernos (en 2009) no deberían estar limitados por la velocidad de la CPU (junto con una tarjeta gráfica de gama media). Para juegos de gama alta habría que elegir un Dual Core a mayor velocidad en su lugar (usando una GPU de gama alta). Comparado con el Turion II Ultra M640, el P8600 debería ser un poco más rapido.

La P8600 usa un nucleo Penryn (actualizacion Montevina) que presenta 2 unidades de enteros, 1 de coma flotante, 1 de carga y una de almacenamiento en un largo pipeline de 14 estados de largo. Debido a la tecnología Wide Dynamic Execution, el nucleo es capaz de ejcutar de forma simultanea hasta cuatro instrucciones.

La tecnología Speedstep mejorada es capaz de ralentizar el nucleo de forma dinámica hasta 1200 MHz para ahorrar energia (en modo reposo).

La Core 2 Duo P8600 puede usarse en un conector SocketP con 479 pines: Socket P/ Micro Flip-chip Pin Grid Array (Micro-FCPGA) requiere una superficie de 479 pines montada en un zocalo Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) (mPGA479M) o Micro Flip-Chip Ball Grid Array (Micro-FCBGA) para el montaje de la superficie (479-ball).
