As this Lenovo Yoga 9i review has shown, it's an impressive stunner up and down. The Yoga 9i offers pretty great battery life, a colorful touchscreen display that’s better than the average 1080p screen, amazing rotating speakers that baffled me with the sound it produced, and fast performance. However, when you compare the Yoga 9i to its competitors, its results could be a bit better in certain categories, and there is a major limit of ports. Want a brighter screen? Go for the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, though its battery life isn't as long. If you're not tied to Windows 10 or a convertible design, take a look at the Apple MacBook Air with M1, which has a nicer display and longer battery life. But just as with the XPS 13 2-in-1 and the Spectre x630 14, you're going to wind up spending a lot more to get the same specs. Otherwise, this 2-in-1 is everything you need.

Lenovo Yoga 9i is one of the most premium looking laptops in the market with premium design and solid build quality. But does it justify its hefty price tag of Rs 1,74,990? Well, the answer here depends upon what you are looking for from a laptop. The laptop can handle most day-to-day tasks including lightweight gaming along with that, the display and speaker combination takes the multimedia viewing experience to a next level. It has solid build quality with a 360-degree hinge, it also offers the flexibility on how or for what purpose you want to use the laptop. So, if you are looking for a premium laptop that not only has a pretty face but also performs well and you do not want to do anything with the heavy gaming and most importantly, if you have that kind of budget, then the Yoga 9i will not disappoint you.

The Lenovo Yoga 9i is an expensive proposition for sure but the display quality and the incredible speakers do leave a lasting impression. Design-wise, there are only a few which can oust the Yoga 9i in terms of portability and sleekness, while still maintaining a robust chassis. Intel’s 11th-gen i7 silicone provides reasonably good performance too. If you want the best of what Lenovo can offer for a productive day-to-day workflow in a stylish package and can afford the Rs 1,70,490 outlay, the Lenovo Yoga 9i gets a thumbs up from me.

Be it for business or academia, the Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 is sure to help boost your productivity. It’s a good-looking and powerful machine with a fantastic keyboard as well as a stunning touchscreen display. The battery life might be mediocre but this PC is far from average overall.

So the Yoga 9i ultimately doesn’t take the Spectre’s crown. Still, it delivers such standout audio — a realm where so many expensive laptops are flatly terrible — that I’m glad it exists as an option for people who really value the quality of their music and movie soundtracks. And the 9i is certainly functional enough in every other area that if you’re looking for a convertible and the Spectre is out of your price range or if standout audio and a garaged stylus are priorities for you, it’s one to consider.

So here’s the thing, the Lenovo Yoga 9i may not be perfect. I would have loved a few more ports and the pen to be on the right-hand side. Plus having a 16×10 aspect ratio and maybe even an AMD processor would have helped, but it’s still a solid two in one and one of the better ones out there that you can buy today especially for the price. The sound alone is good, the battery life is amazing and the build quality is good. If you’re just looking for a very solid two-in-one then this might be the one for you.

Mediocre performance is its key flaw. The Yoga 9i isn’t slow, but its Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor feels lackluster for the price. The MacBook Air or Pro with Apple Silicon blows away this laptop in both benchmarks and day-to-day use. Sticking to the Windows world, you’ll find better performance from a laptop with AMD’s Ryzen or an Intel Core i7 six-core CPU.

Other than the touchpad, it's a lovely PC, and it's probably my favorite design of any Lenovo consumer laptop that I've ever seen. Seriously, the black color makes it look so much better than the bland shades of gray that I've been looking at for years, and the leather lid makes it even better. I didn't talk too much about it in the review, but even the glossy black soundbar is a nice touch.

Like I said at the top, not too much has changed from last year's Yoga C940, at least on the Mica version I tested. You get better performance and battery life, an improved typing experience and a new tip on the included active pen for more pleasing writing and drawing experience. This was already a pretty great two-in-one and the improvements here just cement it as a top pick for the category for the foreseeable future. As always, though, this is far from the only two-in-one option out there.

Intel’s EVO spec push has made an already nice laptop from Lenovo, that much nicer. There weren’t huge leaps in performance and Lenovo seemingly played it safe with a design framework that’s a proven commodity in the latest of its Yoga 900 series. For anyone in the market for a new laptop, there aren’t many other choices that top this year’s offering from Lenovo. I would also recommend getting the black leather option of the 14-inch if available because it just looks amazingly different in a sea of slate grey laptops.

The winning formula from Lenovo's Yoga C940 works even better in the Yoga 9i. Though Dell's latest XPS 13 2-in-1 keeps our Editors' Choice brass ring among premium convertibles, mainly for its sleeker design and higher screen resolution, the Yoga 9i can be an even more attractive option depending on what you emphasize. Its rotating sound bar, extra-long battery life, included stylus (a $99 option on the Dell), comfortable keyboard, and competitive price make it an first-rate contender in this highly competitive market.

First things first, the Yoga 9i (14) is a very well built machine. Premium materials, unorthodox approach, the latest and greatest in terms of technology – Intel Tiger Lake CPUs, Thunderbolt 4 support, Wi-Fi 6 support, and so on. It also produces a great Dobly Audio-tuned sound with its four 2W speakers. However, the entire idea has its drawbacks. And the first one is the touchpad. While having a glass palm rest area looks amazing and pleasing to the eye, there is a reason it is not being widely used.

Is the Yoga 9i good enough for an outright class win? Not quite. I found the trackpad and fingerprint scanner just too bothersome. Is the HP Spectre the best then? Again, no. While the HP’s OLED screen is a delight, the Yoga 9i's display runs it a very close second and is bigger. And the Yoga has a better sound system and superior battery life. The Dell then? None of the competition has the XPS 13’s super-slim screen bezels but you don’t get a pen let alone a slot for one, or a Type-A USB port for that matter. And what about Asus’ ZenBook Flip? The thermal management issues in our review sample would give me pause if I planned on intensive use. If it was my money I would plump for either the Dell XPS 13 because of its super thin bezels or the Yoga 9i because of the speaker quality but both machines have their benefits and drawbacks.

Now the most important question: should you buy the Lenovo Yoga 9i or not? In a nutshell, yes, if you have the pockets for it. The Lenovo Yoga 9i costs over INR 1.5 Lakhs, which brings it in the league of premium laptops like the Apple MacBook Pro and the Microsoft Surface Pro. While that price, INR 1,74,990, might seem like a lot, especially for a Windows laptop but in my experience, it deserves every bit of the spotlight that it is asking for. It’s a colour-balanced and well-lit touchscreen display that works flawlessly whether you are using it in laptop mode or in tablet mode. The fact that it has a rotating soundbar and a notebook-like foldable design makes it a tad bit more alluring. It also gives it an edge over the existing premium laptops in the market right now. Performance-wise, it is capable of handling anything that you throw at it, which adds to the overall allure of this device. Sure, the fingerprint sensor is a buzzkill and the mouse buttons could be improved upon to make them as flexible as the keyboard, but other than that the Lenovo Yoga 9i has no visible flaws.

In my view, Lenovo has been consistent with its devices over the past few years. Every year they either remain as solid as the previous year, or they make improvements. The Lenovo Yoga 9i in Shadow Black with the leather cover is really an amazing little laptop and well worth the money. *We use revenue-generating affiliate links and may earn a commission for purchases made using them. The Lenovo Yoga 9i has a lot going for it. It really lives up to its premium billing with an all-metal enclosure that is both gorgeous and rock-solid. Its display is bright and vibrant. The innovative speaker bar pumps out impressive sound. The keyboard is roomy and comfortable. The battery runs all day and into the night. As a pure laptop, it's great. But despite its many charms, I recommend waiting a few months for the updated Yoga 9i to arrive that will introduce a taller, 16:10 screen if you plan on using your laptop in convertible touchscreen form. This model's wide 16:9 display feels cramped and awkward in tablet mode. The taller display will let you view more content on the screen with less scrolling and provide more room to juggle open windows when multitasking. It should also feel more natural when you rotate the screen all the way around into tablet mode. The new model will also feature a thicker pen for a more natural grip for drawing and scribbling. The current Yoga 9i is good, but the next version coming soon looks to be even better.

As a pure laptop, it’s great. But despite its many charms, I recommend waiting a few months for the updated Yoga 9i to arrive that will introduce a taller, 16:10 screen if you plan on using your laptop in convertible touchscreen form. This model’s wide 16:9 display feels cramped and awkward in tablet mode.

Part of the problem with the Yoga 9i and other Lenovo laptops is the price. As I’ve noted in previous Lenovo reviews, the company almost always lists its laptops for a higher price than what the laptop arguably should be, and also almost always has some sort of “sale” on that makes the laptop similar in price to other options. At the time of writing, the Yoga 9i started at $1,979.99 but had an eCoupon available that brought the price down to $1,880.99. With the eCoupon, the same configuration as what I tested would cost $1,947.49. Ultimately, the pricing was similar to the Surface Laptop 5, but as I wrote in that review, those looking to get more performance for less money can find plenty of other options. Moreover, I’d argue if you’re looking to spend that kind of money, the Laptop 5 is better than the Yoga 9i unless you really want the 360-degree hinge. Plus, there are similarly-specced laptops available for as much as $500 less than the 9i. Ultimately, it comes down to whether the Yoga 9i’s unique 360-hinge and soundbar are important – for me, neither feature is really that important, but for some, it might be. That said, given Lenovo’s tendency to markdown its products with eCoupons, it might be worth waiting for a better deal before scooping up a Yoga 9i.

After spending about a month with the Lenovo Yoga 9i I would have to say it definitely sits at the top of 2-in-1 devices for 2022. Let’s first talk about the 2-in-1 capabilities. This is of course a Yoga laptop so you can easily flip the screen around and turn it into a tablet. In tablet mode the keyboard is of course disabled and you can use the touchscreen with either your finger or the Lenovo Precision Pen 2. This is great for someone who prefers to take hand-written notes over typing them, but still wants the power of a fully-fledged laptop. Traveling? Throw the Yoga 9i in tent mode and you’ll still have room on your tray table for a drink and snack! One thing I definitely appreciated seeing on this laptop was a USB-A port, it seems like we’ve gone all Type-C, but having three Type-C’s and a single Type-A does mean you won’t necessarily need a dongle. You will however need a dongle if you want to connect a second display or grab files off an SD card. I still don’t understand why laptop makers just stopped putting SD card slots on laptops!

Though it must be said that the Yoga 9i does look more attractive if you compare it against other premium flagship notebooks like the HP Spectre x360 and Dell XPS 13 Plus. In many ways, the Yoga 9i reminds me of the dichotomy between a regular car and la uxury car. Both will get you where you need to go, but the luxury car will probably do it in greater comfort and style. And how much is that worth to you is up to you to decide. Me? I’m only paying more for a notebook if its appreciably more powerful and faster. So between the Yoga 9i and Yoga Slim 7 Carbon, I’m taking the latter. It’s not the Tech Awards winner of our Best Ultraportable Notebook category for nothing, you know?

Not counting my admittedly subjective complaints about the Yoga 9i's design, this thing is a nearly ideal 2-in-1. It offers good performance, great sound and even better battery life in a well-built and adaptable chassis. Heck, Lenovo even includes an active stylus and a laptop sleeve in the box, the latter of which you can use to stash the stylus while traveling. Its display is now 16:10, which gives you a little bit of extra screen space for productivity, and thanks to its curvy edges, this thing is noticeably nicer to hold than last year's model. You even get two different options for biometric login. The only real issue is its somewhat shallow and mushy keyboard. But given the rest of the 9i's strengths, that's probably not a dealbreaker unless you're a truly discerning typist. And while its starting price of around $1,250 isn't cheap, our review model with its OLED screen costs just $1,500 which kinda feels like a steal. I should also mention that at least in the US, the OLED model is a Best Buy exclusive.

I know the summer has just started, but I can’t help but think that the Lenovo Yoga 9i 7th Gen would make an excellent computer for someone heading to college in the fall. The 14″ screen is large and easy to read; the metal body is sturdy and can probably put up with a fair amount of campus use. At just over 3 pounds, the 14″ Lenovo Yoga 9i 7th Gen is light enough to throw in a backpack without issue.

While the improved durability of modern laptop/notebook/ultrabook devices is a big win, I do lament the loss of one feature from the cheap laptops of my past: the plastic case. Certainly, while the modern metal chassis — like the CNC-machined aluminum found here on the Yoga 9i — are great for both longevity and looks, they can be genuinely cold. Much of my work finds me in my home office in my basement, which hovers around 63 degrees year-round. As we've found from a couple of years of working from home, pants tend to be eschewed rather quickly, but these cold metal machines are a shock to bare thighs. Apologies to all who were just struck by the mental image of my legs. Pasty quads aside, I feel confident in recommending the latest Yoga 9i to nearly anyone looking for a do-it-all portable computing companion. It won't be a desktop replacement for anyone doing frequent heavy graphics work, and equally-unsurprising those hoping to do video editing or gaming should look to something with a more potent CPU and GPU.

Beyond some power niche power-hungry activities, the 9i is perhaps the best new all-around laptop for 2022. Where Dell opted for a complete makeover of its XPS line up which has proven to be polarizing, Lenovo's subtle refinements may be easier for both consumer and commercial users to get behind. The 9i isn't an inexpensive purchase but will serve most people attempting to do most compute tasks fairly well. I'd recommend the Yoga 9i 7th Gen to anyone who isn't reliant on it being a dedicated gaming device or software the specifically utilizes dedicated GPUs, otherwise it's both power and perhaps the most stylish laptop being offered in 2022.

Ultimately, the Lenovo Yoga 9i improves on most, if not all, the shortcomings of its predecessor. That makes it one of the best 2-in-1 laptops that we've tested and is well worth your consideration if you're on the convertible market. Still, there's one major setback that may sway your wallet elsewhere: stock and availability. At the time of writing, Lenovo only has one configuration available for sale, though a spokesperson has told me that more options will arrive in Best Buy this month. So unless you're content with the 4K OLED, 16GB RAM, and 1TB model, stick around for alternatives.

The Yoga 9i has a lot of great things going for it. A spectacular display for a non-4K panel, a keyboard that offers convenient access to popular apps, a room-filling audio system, and useful software. Unfortunately, its 8-hour battery life isn’t alluring. The 7th-gen Yoga 9i’s predecessor survived for more than 11 hours. If you’re seeking a 2-in-1 laptop in the same price range, consider the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360(opens in new tab) — it even comes with an S Pen. Plus, it lasts for nearly 12 hours. However, time is of the essence, and according to our test results, the Yoga 9i has a faster file-transfer rate than the Samsung convertible. The Yoga 9i is ideal for users who are a sticklers for colorful displays, zippy file-transfer rates and a decent audio system. The Samsung 2-in-1 is best for on-the-go content creators who would benefit from its 12-hour battery life and accompanying stylus.

So when I say that the Lenovo Yoga 9i is now the best laptop on the market, I’m saying that from a place where I’ve actually tested the rest. The only caveat is that Dell hasn’t announced this year’s XPS 13 and HP hasn’t announced this year’s Spectre x360, but Lenovo has just gone so far beyond what it’s offered in previous generations. It’s phenomenal. The bottom line is that if you’re going premium, this is the laptop you should buy.

In terms of battery life, the 9i averaged seven hours and 38 minutes of continuous work use, which included a heap of Chrome tabs with some Zoom calls and Spotify streaming overtop here and there. That’s shaping up to be around what you can expect from ultraportables in this Intel generation. You can likely make it through a workday on lighter workloads — on a day when I was mostly using Google Docs and didn’t have any Zoom calls, I got closer to nine hours. One annoyance: Like many other Yoga laptops, this thing comes with a lot of bloatware. Various McAfee antivirus programs were pre-installed, and I was getting pop-ups all the time. Uninstalling it took a while and required me to close all my tabs and restart the system at the end. That feels a bit overboard for a device that’s close to $2,000.

In terms of battery life, the 9i averaged seven hours and 38 minutes of continuous work use, which included a heap of Chrome tabs with some Zoom calls and Spotify streaming overtop here and there. The Yoga 9i Gen 7 is a marked improvement over last year's iteration in many ways. That's saying a lot considering how much we liked that 2-in-1 laptop, but this update is simply that good. The beefy 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and bountiful RAM allow for seamless multi-tasking, while the spacious keyboard lets you work comfortably for hours. The improved webcam and roaring speakers are also highlights. While the battery life on our configuration is less than the previous model, you should be able to get through most of an average workday. The only major complaint I have with this laptop is that it makes for a somewhat awkward tablet. Yes, the touch interface is snappy and easy to use, but the laptop's size means you can't comfortably hold it in one hand as you would with smaller tablets. But it's entirely possible some folks will consider the Yoga 9i as a perfectly capable Windows tablet despite its size. Minor qualms aside, this is one of the best 2-in-1 laptops we've tested and is one worth considering.

There are a lot of things the Lenovo Yoga 9i gets right: the gorgeous 4K OLED display, the elegant form factor, the powerful processor, and the excellent stylus response. To top it all off, the Yoga 9i comes with a laptop sleeve and a good stylus out of the box. The base configuration with 8GB of RAM and a 1920 x 1200p screen starts at $1,449, however, there are better-value 2-in-1s out there. The HP Spectre 14t offers a similar experience for a starting price of $1,499, but it’s often on sale for about $1,000, with the 4K OLED version often on sale for as little as $1,380—although you’ll have to bring your own stylus. The MSI Summit E13 Flip is on the pricier side at $1,600, but it trades performance for better battery life and has a brilliant stylus pen that rivals Microsoft and Wacom pens. Meanwhile, the Lenovo Yoga 9i is not only cheaper, but you can easily find the base configuration on sale for as low as $1,230—not to mention both the HP and MSI laptops have better battery life.

The Yoga 9i is a premium-tier all-purpose convertible laptop. It's built well and doesn't compromise on anything important, such as screen quality, inputs, audio, or performance. It even packs a large battery inside, but that's somewhat negated by the lackluster efficiency of the Intel Core P hardware that powers this generation. Still, this is a competitive package with excellent pricing, and I'd expect it will meet a lot of interest this year.

Lenovo's Yoga 9i 14-inch is an excellent addition to the company's long line of capable premium 2-in-1s. It packs strong performance, a great OLED display, excellent audio, a pleasant keyboard, a large touchpad, and future-proof connectivity into one compact, versatile package. Though Intel's new Core i7-1260P is performant enough for many professionals and creators, the Yoga 9i's size and connectivity makes it ideal for travelers, students, and everyday users who want a premium Windows experience.

A decade has passed since Lenovo introduced the first Yoga 2-in-1. Though Microsoft's Surface devices set the trend, it was arguably the high-volume Yoga line that became the true vanguard of mainstream convertible design. Lenovo's Yoga 9i 14-inch (2022) builds on this decade of experience in all the right ways. From the thin profile to the powerful internals, this year's model delivers blazing fast performance in a tiny package. Although the fan noise can be a bit loud and we feel as though it relies too much on USB-C, overall we were impressed with this machine.

We're big fans of the HP Spectre x360 14, but the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 7 delivers better performance and a couple of hours' more battery life, thanks partly to the latest-generation Intel silicon. The Yoga's performance and efficiency boost is paired with an equally eye-popping OLED screen. We're bummed that neither 2-in-1 laptop offers an HDMI port, but otherwise each is a brilliant premium convertible and splendid status symbol, with the Yoga narrowly taking the Editors' Choice crown.

Coming to the price, at Rs. 135200, the Lenovo Yoga 9 14IAP7 has a lot to offer. Is the performance worth the price you have to pay? According to me, yes. Right from its elegant and premium look to its great OLED display, and audio performance, there is a lot on the platter. However, I feel the laptop could have got a holder for the stylus and a space for the Numpad on the keyboard. However, if you feel the laptop is expensive and want a convertible laptop under Rs. 1 lakh then the Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED (UP5401) can be your choice. The Yoga 9i also gets tough competition from the Apple MacBook Air with M2 chip.

Last year the Lenovo Yoga 9i was one of my favorite laptops of the year and this years version brings with it some new improvements and once again is at the top of my list of laptops to get in 2023. One of the biggest improvements is going to be the screen. This year we have a 16:10 OLED screen which you can get in either a 2.8K (2880 x 1800) or 4K (3840 x 2400) option. This screen is simply amazing which is going to make working, watching media, etc so much more enjoyable. On top of that it is a touchscreen which can be used with the included Precision Pen 2. If you are someone who prefers to write things down instead of typing them you’ll definitely like using the Precision Pen 2. Beyond the screen you do have a new 13th gen processor (Core i7-1360P) as well as a faster PCI-Express solid state drive.

At the time of publication, our review unit can be had for $1,650(USD) at Best Buy. Some consumers are going to overlook the Yoga 9I on price point alone, I was one of those consumers in years past. A well equipped gaming laptop can be had for the same price or less, that’ll feature a dedicated GPU, and most likely a high refresh rate screen with a more powerful CPU. A laptop for most people that would accomplish any task right? Until I experienced a purpose built laptop like the Lenovo Yoga 9I that’s built for productivity, light content creation, and media consumption I didn’t realize what a joy it would be to use. Well built, great screen, the 1080P webcam, solid trackpad and keyboard, not to mention the 360 degree hinge with pen, while it’s not the perfect laptop, it checks all the boxes for being a productivity powerhouse and holds its own in other demanding tasks as well. The tradeoffs are more than worth it, the Lenovo Yoga 9I has become one of my favorite laptops of 2023.

All in all, I had a great time reviewing the Lenovo Yoga 9i. It’s among the most sought-after premium convertible laptops out there, and rightfully so. The design and display of this laptop is second to none. Performance and battery life are also decent enough. Most importantly, Lenovo has packed this with innovative features to boost productivity. It’s priced at NPR 230,000 in Nepal, some INR 162,355 in India, and USD 1,499 elsewhere. While this is not an affordable price by any means, it’s hard to think of a better alternative at that price point, so there’s that. So this was all about my review of the Lenovo Yoga 9i. We will be coming with more of this review in the future, so don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get updated.

If your staff suggest it as their BYOD option, it seems sensible to steer them towards something that ships with Windows 11 Pro, and a higher-resolution webcam. I also worry that the gimmicky soundbar won't last: extra moving parts never feel like a good idea. And they'll regret that missing HDMI port as they connect it to the monitor you sent home during COVID.

The Lenovo Yoga 9i is for business travellers who need some oomph to finish off presentations, creators who use video and photo editing software, and artists. On sale for $2,200, it’s a bargain for a laptop with this amount of power, and thus an easy recommendation. But at the full price of $3,479, it’s definitely out of reach (and overkill) for more casual users who would be better suited to the Yoga 7i or another, cheaper solution. The Yoga 9i is one of the nicer 2-in-1 laptops I’ve reviewed, certainly the best I’ve seen this year. If I were shopping for a new non-gaming Windows laptop, this would be the one I would go for, given how easily it travels while still being able to do everything I need it to.

I am happy to report that the webcam in the Yoga 9i is also pretty good. It's 2.1 MP, with a 16:9 view, giving you 1080p video capture. It's not 5-MP quality like you'll find in some recent machines, but it's the best webcam I've tested on a laptop this year. The Yoga 9i has a 75 watt-hour battery, which boasts the same Rapid Charge Boost feature found in other recent Lenovos, like the Slim Pro 7 (8/10, WIRED Recommends). I managed 11 hours and 17 minutes in our standard battery test, which loops a 1080p film (local) with the brightness at 75 percent. In more realistic testing, like just using it for work for a few weeks, I was able to regularly get 12 hours, sometimes more so long as I kept the brightness dialed back a bit.

The Lenovo Yoga 9i excels as an all-in-one media production and entertainment package thanks to a superb high-resolution touch screen, a great stylus, bangin’ audio, and nearly nine hours of battery life to tie it all together. For creatives who constantly get their ideas out on virtual paper, students who like taking digital notes, and anyone who likes to kick back at the end of the day and watch movies, the Yoga 9i will blow you away. But, its limited power consumption keeps it from being a machine for everyone. If you’re looking for something that’s suited for gaming, 3D modeling, or software development, the Yoga 9i’s Intel Core i7-1360P processor won’t be able to keep up. The Asus ROG Flow Z13 is the closest alternative, but its tablet form factor and the subpar battery life might be too much of a drawback for those on the go. However, if you’re more concerned about the Yoga 9i’s high sticker price, the HP Envy 15 makes for a great alternative that’s well under a thousand dollars. But as an everyday, all-purpose laptop, the Yoga 9i has more than enough power to keep up with Photoshop and Evernote, and its display is best-in-class, with excellent color coverage and a fantastic touch sensitivity that makes drawing and writing feel as good as writing on paper. Lenovo’s Yoga 9i is an exemplary addition to the convertible laptop market.

We had a hunch that the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 would be a great-performing laptop after perusing its specs, but we were still pleasantly surprised oveall. As you can see from our testing, it beat out most of the competition in its class in most of benchmarks we ran it through. In day to day use, it was easily able to handle mainstream computing tasks and image editing workloads with aplomb, while offering good battery life. Intel's Core i7-1360P processor really shines here, ensuring the Yoga 9i excelled at every task we threw at it, save for perhaps heavier gaming workloads. Add in its premium presentation and a stunning 4K OLED touch display, and you have a winner. This laptop isn't perfect and its battery life with that high-end display option, while good, wasn't among the best out there, but in most other metrics, the new Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 offers a very compelling 14-inch premium laptop experience. Of course, there is some serious competition here too. The Dell XPS 13 Plus immediately jumps to mind. Despite its non-convertible design, there's a lot to like about the XPS 13 Plus, especially if you like Dell's recent design language, with its invisible trackpad. Regardless, if you're in the market for a thin-and-light laptop, the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 is among a new breed of PC laptop PC offerings that's hard to beat. It's not cheap at $1,530 as tested, but with its included pen stylus support, a gorgeous 4K display, 360-degree hinge and a 100 Watt fast charger, there's a fair amount of features and functionality on offer here, and it does drop in just below Samsung's new Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 as well. With its combination of features, capability and build quality, the new Lenovo Yogi 9i Gen 8 is easy to recommend.

Once again, the Yoga 9 proves to be a fantastic laptop for your money. Indeed, it comes at a premium, but it offers more than one can digest. The features include a fingerprint reader, a Full HD Web camera with IR face recognition and privacy shutter, as well as a proximity sensor. This allows you to use the zero-touch functions, which can be enabled through the Vantage app. By the way, the same app will give you control over the performance of the notebook. With the highest available preset, you will be able to extract a fantastic desktop-grade level of performance from your convertible. The cooling is good enough, as it supports 64W and 28W power limits, respectively. There are a couple of things that we didn’t like about this machine. First – the memory. It is soldered to the motherboard, which leaves you no option to upgrade it in the future. Secondly – the port selection. Although you get two Thunderbolt 4 connectors and a fast USB Type-A port, we do miss the LAN port, HDMI connector, and SD card reader. Some business users might not like the fact that the laptop lacks WWAN support. On the other hand, the build quality of the device is simply fantastic, while the speakers are dynamic and loud. Not in the last place, you get a stylus inside the box. This will let you use the laptop to draw and take notes more easily. In our view, the Lenovo Yoga 9 (14″, 2023) is definitely worth it.

All of this is to say that I don't think the Gen 8 is a bad laptop by any means. In fact, it has a spectacular display, really nice sound, and can handle games much better than my current workhorse. But I do think it's held back by its basic presentation. And particularly the way it tends to chew through battery power when doing anything more involved than streaming videos. I know I keep going back to my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro for a comparison but I feel like it's still apt here. Because this MacBook is three years old at this point, and despite the age difference the only edge I feel the Gen 8 really has over it is the gorgeous OLED screen — and make no mistake, it is gorgeous — and the fact that it can plan more process-heavy games better. To me, that might not be enough of an improvement to justify the price at $1700*, which amounts to an extra $300 to $400 over a three-year-old Apple product with comparable — maybe even slightly worse — battery life. Then again, the Gen 8 does include the Precision Pen 2 and can flip into tablet mode. So really it comes down to what you intend to use it for.

After last year's Yoga 9i model wowed us with its superb new look, we had high hopes for the newest version of Lenovo's best 2-in-1 laptop. With its sleek, feature-filled design, the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 isn't quite a 100% slam dunk—longer battery life and more flexibility with the added function keys would be welcome—but you'll find precious little to complain about. The design is superb, the OLED display is impressive, and the overall performance is more than enough, though we do wish the move to 13th Gen resulted a larger boost in capability. (We suspect going even thinner and lighter than before put a little crimp in performance here.) Nevertheless, the excellent design and still-leading performance make the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 the best 2-in-1 we've tested so far in 2023, and our new Editors' Choice pick among premium convertible laptops.

With the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8, Lenovo may have hit the nail in the Dell XPS coffin with its elevated design, speedy performance, and wonderful elements like a stunning OLED screen and a stylus included – all for less than the price of the latter. Don’t get me wrong; it’s still a pricey piece of kit, but once you have it in your hands, you’d be glad for that splurge.

This 2023 update of the Lenovo Yoga 9i series is mostly a hardware refresh of the already popular model from 2022. It's the same premium chassis and 2-in-1 format, with good inputs, a beautiful OLED touchscreen, and snappy enough performance for everyday use. In fact, this generation is actually a little bit faster than the previous iteration, but the efficiency on battery power is still not great. Overall, though, this Yoga 9i remains a competitive offer in the higher-tier ultrabook space.

The Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 is an excellent 2-in-1 laptop that feels like a premium piece of tech. From its polished, rounded aluminum edges to the vibrant OLED display crowning the punchy soundbar, every inch of this laptop feels classy. It doesn't just look good on a desk, either; this convertible is speedy enough for day-to-day work at home, in the coffee shop or in class. With its $1,399 starting price tag it's priced to compete with laptops and 2-in-1s that don't look or sound half as nice, and the included stylus and carrying sleeve with every Yoga 9i is icing on the cake. However, the fact that Lenovo no longer builds a charging garage into this laptop limits the utility of the stylus and increases the odds of losing it. And as well-rounded and appealing as our Yoga 9i review unit is, it still falls short of the competition in some key ways. Most notably, the display is dimmer yet far more saturated than similarly-priced and similarly-sized competitors like the Acer Spin 5 and the Acer Swift 5. They both also outperform our Yoga 9i review unit in terms of both raw CPU power and video editing, despite being competitively priced and packing older CPUs than the 13th Gen Intel Core i7 in our review unit. They also both outlasted the Yoga 9i in our battery rundown test, as do many of the ultraportables we test these days. So if you want a beautiful Windows 2-in-1 with stylus included that will serve you equally well in class or in the conference room, the Lenovo Yoga 9i is one I heartily recommend — as long as you know the downsides as well as the benefits. If you want a laptop of this size specifically for gaming or video editing and don't mind it not turning into a tablet you'd probably be happier with the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, a 14-inch gaming laptop that's competitively priced with the Yoga 9i. If you don't mind macOS, Apple's MacBook Pro 14-inch is more expensive than the Yoga 9i (and lacks its touchscreen or 2-in-1 versatility) but delivers far more power for photo and video editing, as well as a brighter and more color-accurate display.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is a unique proposition, offering mobile users the advantage of increased display space. There are clever functions to support those screens, but you'll really need a desk to get the most from it - so those working on their lap might find it slightly limiting. The stand is clever however, and with versatility in use, deployment might only be limited by the user's imagination.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is likely to be a productivity workhorse without being a powerhouse. If you're good with that, then this is going to be a great laptop for you, but otherwise, you will have to lookk elsewhere for higher performance. The design, however, is definitely innovative, and it's a far better solution to the dual screen needs of a lot of users than a foldable laptop will ever likely be, so if you're a multitasker who's tired of not being able to switch between screens with ease the way you are on a desktop (or at least with external monitors), then your laptop is coming. Just be prepared to pay the premium for that additional screen real estate.

When it starts shipping in June, it’ll be available with storage configurations of either 512GB or a full terabyte of solid-state drive space to stash your files in starting at an eye-watering $2,100. If it performs as well as it looks on paper when we test the final version, the price may be worth it for artists, serious notetakers, and devoted split-screen multitaskers.

The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is the most exciting laptop I’ve seen in 2023 so far. Its dual-screen design allows for numerous use cases, whether you want to mimic a dual-monitor setup, use the device like a book/tablet or even revert back to a classic clamshell form. This feels like a more realistic option than a foldable laptop, since it’s cheaper to design and doesn’t suffer quite as many software issues. It’s still likely too expensive for the average person considering the specs, but this could well be a glimpse into an exciting future for laptops, in both 2023 and beyond.

Lenovo keeps making great 2-in-1s, and the Yoga 9i Gen 8 is no exception. It’s fast, has a solid and lovely design, and its display is spectacular. It doesn’t have the speed for demanding, GPU-intensive creative apps, but for everybody else, it’ll churn through your workloads without a problem. It’s expensive, though, currently starting at $1,700. Perhaps future configurations will be less expensive. But if you have the budget and want a truly premium 2-in-1 experience, then the Yoga 9i Gen 8 is highly recommended.

I have always had this idea of a luxury notebook that holds its value in the same way as such objects. I even drew a few sketches of the notebook I thought fits into this mould of an ultimate luxury device. The new Lenovo Yoga 9i comes closer to what I imagined, a 2-in-1 that emphasises both looks and functionality. I have a soft corner for convertible laptops, but I wanted to review the Yoga 9i from the perspective of someone just using it as their main home and travel computer. Here’s what I found after using the notebook for well over a week.

I wish the touchpad was a bigger differentiator between the two lines. The Yoga 9i's touchpad is slightly larger, but both are mechanical touchpads and basically the same. At its price, the premium Yoga 9i 14 Gen 9 should have a haptic touchpad. With its lively response that's consistent across its entire surface and also customizable, the giant haptic touchpad was one of my favorite parts of the HP Spectre x360 14. With a fantastic OLED display and some of the best-sounding laptop speakers I've ever experienced packaged inside a trim, all-metal chassis, the Yoga 9i 14 Gen 9 delivers premium goods to account for its sky-high price.

Anytime you buy a laptop or any gadget really, you should start with a simple question: What do I want this for? Because not every laptop is for the same purpose. If you want to play games, you need something heavy, loud, and with the strongest GPU you can afford. If you want a productivity machine, you can probably skip the touchscreen and 2-in-1 form factor. But laptops don’t have to be for gaming or work, sometimes they’re the thing we use to unwind and enjoy a good movie. That’s the Yoga 9i in a nutshell. Are you looking for something to serve as a music player, a movie watcher, and an internet browser that’s more powerful than an iPad but still capable of being used like a tablet?

There are areas where the Yoga 9i doesn’t excel. It’s performance is great across all mainstream apps, but nothing particularly special. It’s battery life is good, but a few hours short of stellar. Yet there’s something about the 2-in-1 design, the screen and the keyboard that makes this a great laptop for everyday use, both at home and on the go. It’s beautifully constructed and fabulous to look at, while being fast enough for anything except gaming and the most demanding creative tasks. What’s more, when you look at the price tag, it’s great value to boot.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say the latest Lenovo Yoga 9i is a disappointment, but in a world where every other laptop is taking huge leaps forward in battery life, it’s a shame that the successor to my most beloved laptop took several steps backward in this category. It features the same incredible OLED panel, a sturdy and lightweight aluminum chassis that’s even more lithe, fantastic Intel performance from the latest Meteor Lake processors, and powerful speakers alongside a satisfying keyboard. But seven hours of battery life is rough.

The Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 Gen 8 has topped our 2-in-1 laptop roundup recommendations for a year, and the Gen 9 model is a worthy successor with a splendid screen, faultless performance and battery life, and sensational sound. The Yoga is a bit more expensive but slightly lighter than HP's Spectre x360 14, so it stands next to it as an Editors' Choice award holder, matching it spec-for-spec otherwise. You really can't go wrong with either—or the previous Yoga to save cash—if you're seeking a versatile 2-in-1 for anything short of demanding games or workstation apps. Like its utmost rival from HP, the Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 Gen 9 earns our Editors' Choice award in high-end 2-in-1 laptops as an alternative to a similar computing experience.

Overall, the Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 Gen 9 is a solid machine. I recommend it to anyone looking for a new work laptop, especially if you're a creative professional who needs a device that excels at multiple jobs. Prices for the model start at $1,477; however, at the time of this writing, it's currently on sale for $1,329 on Lenovo's site.

I like the Yoga 9i Gen 9. A lot. It’s a gorgeous convertible 2-in-1 that’s very well made, and its OLED display and excellent audio make for a fun media experience. It’s also quite fast and reasonably portable. Its one significant flaw is below-average battery life. It also costs around $1,500, 50% more expensive than some other laptops with similar specs. Is a 2-in-1’s flexibility and a stunningly attractive chassis more important to you than all-day battery life? If so, then, by all means, buy the Yoga because only its battery life holds it back from a higher rating.

The Lenovo Yoga 9i (14″, Gen 9) is a well-tuned 2-in-1 laptop. Its good cooling with two fans allows decently high CPU clocks even when the Team Blue chip is loaded at max. In this scenario, the temperatures are also under control while the fan can be too noisy for some users. Still, if you don’t need the full power of the Meteor Lake processor, the “Intelligent Cooling” or the “Battery Saving” modes are the way to go if you want to hear less noise. We want to praise once again the Intel Arc (8-Cores) iGPU. When the latter is paired with fast RAM (like the soldered LPDDR5x-7467 MHz memory of this gadget) it can achieve some impressive scores for an integrated solution. For example, it can show 85 FPS in Dota 2 on High settings which could be overwhelming even for some low-end dedicated graphics.

The Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 (2024) is one of the best looking convertible laptops I’ve seen, with a classy metal design and sturdy 360-degree hinge. The new Intel Core Ultra and OLED display make this laptop an even more compelling option, putting it in great stead to be among the very best 2-in-1 laptops of 2024.

Lenovo is throwing in a couple of sweeteners. Use the part code 83AC000FUK and you’ll receive a swanky cover – complete with a loop for the stylus – and a three-in-one USB-C hub that adds USB-A, VGA and HDMI. These complement the three USB-C ports and one USB-A port tucked into the laptop’s narrow base (there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack, too). It’s a shame the hub doesn’t include an RJ45 port, and while I’m wishing it would also have been nice to see Wi-Fi 7 rather than Wi-Fi 6E. You can configure the Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Gen 9 on Lenovo’s website, with options such as 32GB of RAM, a higher-res screen and a grey finish rather than blue. But this pre-configured system is better value, especially as it was on sale for £1,500, a £200 discount, at the time of going to press. Still, I’m not convinced that’s bargain enough. Despite all the quality on show, the price feels like it should be closer to £1,300 to compete with the deluge of laptops currently appearing on shelves.

This is a great laptop for people who want a portable Windows PC, with a familiar processor, enough power to do their day-to-day tasks (and then some), a good battery life, and a beautiful screen. While it’s not classed as ultra-portable, I still think it is incredibly portable with how light and slim it is. 1.32kg is ridiculously light, making it perfect for carrying to and from work or school. This is a reasonably priced, upper-mid-range, portable laptop that will be able to do what you need it to do and more, without costing much more than a decent used car. This is the next level of laptop most people need. Whether you care that this is a “Copilot+ PC” or not, this is a laptop with enough grunt to be used for a long time to come

The Lenovo Yoga 9i 2-in-1 (Gen 9) is equipped with a gorgeous 2.8K OLED display, Intel’s new Core Ultra 7 155H processor, and a rotating soundbar that gives your favorite tunes a full-bodied, atmospheric sound you won’t find on most other laptops — all for just $1,449! In my book, that’s an excellent deal, especially if you’re searching for a laptop with flexible 2-in-1 functionality. My daily driver laptop is the Yoga 9i (Gen 7), and I can attest to its ability to run smaller, less demanding games like Stardew Valley and Forager. With the Yoga 9i (Gen 9)’s more powerful CPU, those games will run even better — albeit with quite a bit of noise from the fans. You’ll want to make sure you have a charging cable nearby because battery life isn’t something the Yoga 9i 2-in-1 excels at. That said, at least this laptop features double-sided USB Type-C ports for convenient charging.

Lenovo:
