In the detailed review of the Moto G (2022) smartphone which comes in the mid-range segment that doesn’t have anything that shines out from the rest of the competition. If you want to upgrade to a 5G phone, the Motorola Moto G (2022) comes out to be an adequate deal under the budget of $400. Looking at the positive side, the phone does have decent overall specs to appeal to the users. Although, there are several alternative options present in the market. You can choose a smartphone according to your need and budget. But if we have to recommend something in the lower price range, we will recommend the Realme Q5 Pro which gives ample performance that will provide a smooth experience and better camera performance.

The 2022 Moto G 5G is a $400 phone (roughly converting to £320, AU$570) with 256GB of storage space. That might be all you need to know if you're just looking for an affordable phone that can hold all of your music, videos, apps, games, photos and more. Other phones in this price range don't even come close in terms of storage space, especially the $429 iPhone SE, which has just 64GB of storage. Plus, the Moto G 5G has 6GB of RAM to boost performance, and you can add even more storage with a microSD card. Storage space is the clear highlight for this year's Moto G 5G. But the phone's 6.5-inch 720p screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, long-lasting 5,000-mAh battery, headphone jack and Android 12 also provide a lot of flexibility and functionality. But if $400 is the most you want to pay for a phone, there is a lot to like about the Moto G 5G. Just be sure to keep your expectations in check. You might even find the Moto G 5G at a lower price, as Motorola said it plans to offer the phone at $350 for a limited time. Motorola's phones generally get discounted even further with time.

The Motorola Moto G 5G is a perfectly respectable phone with acceptable performance, a large screen, and good battery life. It handles these basics well. However, it doesn't really stand out against the cheaper OnePlus Nord N20 or the slightly more expensive Pixel 5a—both of which outperform the Moto 5G in one way or another. Further, the promising Pixel 6a comes out at the end of July if you're willing to wait. Motorola's own Moto G Stylus 5G, with its faster 5G radio, higher-resolution screen, and included stylus, is also a compelling alternative even if it costs a little more. If you're still interested in the Moto G 5G, your best bet may be to buy the phone when it's available for less than the $399.99 asking price. It's a much more appealing purchase if you can snag it from a carrier for under $250 or even free, depending on the deal. Otherwise, at the $400 retail price, the Nord N20 and the Pixel 5a make more sense.

The Moto G 5G (2022) is the quintessential Moto G experience, for better and, mostly, for worse. It offers a long-lasting battery and ample storage for a budget phone, but for whatever steps it takes forward, it stumbles further backward somewhere else. With so many great phones at the same price, you'd need to be a die-hard Moto G fan to not look elsewhere.

The Moto G 5G (2022) is overpriced and disappointing. From the sluggish performance to weak cameras, this Moto is far from worth the $399 asking price. In a world where we have stronger budget phones such as the Nord N20 5G, the Moto G 5G (2022) isn’t worth your money.

If you happen to be on T-Mobile or Metro, the OnePlus N20 is an excellent alternative at a lower price. It comes with a nicer OLED screen — albeit with a less smooth 60Hz standard refresh rate — and fast charging with the included charger. The Samsung Galaxy A32 5G is another good $300 option if you can find it. It’s a year old at this point, but, with a more versatile camera system and three more years of security support promised, it’s still a solid alternative. A lot of people will probably encounter the Moto G 5G as an option from their prepaid wireless carrier — likely the 64GB version with less RAM and a lower price. Is that version worth the money? My answer is a resounding “maybe.” Performance with 4GB of RAM is probably good enough to handle all of your daily tasks well, plus you get that big battery and good Motorola software. The typing experience makes me very hesitant to recommend it, though, even at a lower price, so the best course of action would be to try it out in a store if you can. Otherwise, the safest bet would be to look to one of the very good alternatives from Samsung, Google, or OnePlus.
