Overall, we can't recommend the Celeron configuration of the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2—you'll be much happier with the perkier Core i3 model, though its $699 price will buy you any of several quicker, more desirable Chrome OS or Windows laptops. The Samsung's sleek style and handsome QLED screen have undeniable appeal, but its chassis writes a check that its components can't cash.

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 is by far the best Samsung Chromebook to buy for most people out there. It’s true the original Galaxy Chromebook still beats it in some key specs, but those are likely targeted at a pretty small niche of power users. The core i3/128GB/8GB model is probably the best way to go for most people. Extra RAM and storage are particularly useful if you want to use the Chromebook 2 as your primary machine at work. If you’re going to buy this Chromebook, I would recommend waiting for one of Samsung’s relatively common sales. I was able to snag the Core i3/128GB/8GB model for just over $400 after tax. At that price, this is not only the best value for a Samsung Chromebook, but the best value in the Chromebook space as a whole.

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 helps define what premium design looks like in a Chromebook that's still affordable. While it lacks some of the raw appeal of the original, this follow-up machine stands on its own thanks to zippy performance, a pleasing display, and solid battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 is the world’s first QLED Chrome OS laptop, but its so-so performance on our tests makes it a questionable choice for prospective Chromebook buyers.

Introduced at CES 2021, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 is an anomoly in a bunch of ways. For one, it has a ‘2’ in the name while not exactly improving on its predecessor. It has a processor that, in just a few months, will feel a tad bit dated. It lacks features that its contemporaries possess and yet it still costs more than those other Chromebooks. In fact, there are very few ways in which this Chromebook is superlative, yet there’s actually some charm to it at the same time. With perhaps a different name and a slightly lower price I’d be inclined to call it a good purchase, but as it stands, I’m a bit back-and-forth on how I feel about this particular Chromebook. So, let’s talk about it.

The Galaxy Chromebook 2 is a more affordable, more practical version of its predecessor. While you may miss some of the original Galaxy Chromebook’s bells and whistles, the sequel offers more reliable battery in an affordable package that’s as svelte and eye-catching as the original.

This is the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2, a very interesting sequel to one of the most opulent products of 2020. I mean, it was hard not to award the first Galaxy Chromebook as best of CES for its sleek design, powerful internals, S Pen support and a 4K OLED display, but it wasn't perfect. It obviously didn’t come cheap, and battery life was sort of a problem, which made the choice for ChromeOS be kind of a deal breaker. It’s always been this topic of debate if buying an expensive Chromebook is worth the money, and the reason why I drifted more to the Galaxy Book Flex, which was almost the same machine, but running Windows.

Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook 2 is much easier to recommend than the original. The company made smart choices about what to prioritize with this model, making it a computer that should satisfy a much wider swath of potential customers. I definitely wish the battery lasted an hour or two longer, but that’s my only major complaint. Besides that, it’s about as good of a premium Chromebook as you could ask for in 2021. There are much cheaper Chromebooks out there, but if you don’t mind spending extra for a great screen, sound and industrial design, the Galaxy Chromebook should be on your list.

It’s not incredible. The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 is far from the longest-lasting Chromebook I’ve ever tested. But after last year’s Samsung Galaxy Chromebook couldn’t even make it five hours on a charge, my expectations were on the floor. I performed my first battery test on this year’s sequel in an optimistic but nervous state. Finally, several months after the Chromebook 2 was announced, I’m breathing a sigh of relief. To repeat: the battery life is not a disaster, folks. The battery life is fine.

It's unusual for the second generation of a device to have fewer features than the original and still have it be an improvement, but that's the case for the Galaxy Chromebook 2. Samsung dialed back on some of the features and components, making this sequel more affordable than the first-gen model. It also has much better battery life. And Samsung did it all without losing all of its predecessor's premium appeal.

this is a midrange reboot of the original, and from one point of view it’s a much more reasonable computer. After all, Chromebooks have built a big part of their success on being the better value, and by eliminating all of the sweeteners from last year’s thousand-dollar model, Samsung has dropped the entry price of the Chromebook 2 to a more palatable $549 … or in the case of my higher-end review unit, a buck short of $700. But in the very competitive thick middle of the ChromeOS market, is that enough of a discount to make the Galaxy Chromebook 2 a contender? Watch Michael Fisher’s review to find out!

Samsung launched three different S21 models, but the specs showed off today were not a surprise: An extensive leak from Android Police gave almost the entire spec sheet for all three phones, and promotional slides released by tipster Evan Blass confirmed most of those details.

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook is a beautiful 13.3-inch Chrome OS two-in-one with a gorgeous 4K-resolution AMOLED display and a strong Intel Core i5 processor. It's also $1,000 and has a relatively short battery life compared to some of its less costly competition. For its second go-round, the Galaxy Chromebook 2, Samsung made some feature tweaks to bring the price down -- and hopefully improve battery life -- while keeping the same premium look and feel of the original.

The Chromebook Go is very much a mixed bag. Using the keyboard is enjoyable, the audio is good and there is a decent selection of ports and connectivity options. If you’re looking for an LTE compatible Chromebook, then there isn’t a lot that offer that feature, so the Go can certainly put that among its boasts. Sadly, the main downside is the lacklustre display, which not only lacks brightness but also has poor viewing angles, colour and resolution. With Samsung marketing the Go as a student device, I can’t see too many being happy with streaming video that is difficult to enjoy, especially if doing so with other people. If you’re looking for a simple, reasonably affordable writing machine for documents, spreadsheets and research, then it’s a decent choice. But, anything outside of that will most likely leave you wishing you’d gone for a different device.

Reviewing the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go has been something of a rollercoaster. A simple one, with one big lift hill and a very quick drop. To the naked eye, if you can ignore its hulking bezels, this looks extremely well-appointed. It has a 14-inch screen, something you don't always see in the generally-smaller world of Chromebooks. It has a classy black inner and a stock silvery outer case. There are plenty of ports, one of which allows you to slot in an LTE SIM and get online wherever you might be. We started our time with it pretty excited. What could there possibly be to complain about? Hitting that point of inertia and rolling over the peak of the hill means hitting the power button, and reveals the true drama of this ride. There's a 14-inch screen alright, but it's 1366x768 and so low on contrast, color, brightness and even sharpness it disappoints in every respect other than size.

There are a few worse and weaker Chromebooks than the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go, but there are many far better ones. Its performance is in the dictionary under "torpor," and its screen not only has the 1,366-by-768 resolution we thought we'd long since relegated to 11.6-inch Chromebooks but is dimmer and harder to view than they are. If you watch retailers for sales, you can find superior deals. (It was a Black Friday price, but at this writing Best Buy offered a 14-inch Lenovo Chromebook with a 1080p touch screen and twice the storage for $100 less.) The Galaxy Chromebook 2 at least has its QLED display to recommend it, but the Go reminds us of General Motors' attempt to sell the Chevy Nova in Mexico—no va in Spanish means "does not go."

With a slightly faster CPU and double the RAM, I’d probably be telling you the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is the best small-screen Chromebook out there, particularly if you want a convertible clamshell rather than a tablet. As is it, it’s still a fine option – well designed, comfortable to use and with an impressive high-res screen. Just be aware that performance isn’t up there with the best mid-range Chromebooks and this might limit how you use it as time goes on.
