The Galaxy S10 was indeed a very special flagship for Samsung as it brings a new design language as well. Not just that it also marks the 10th anniversary of the premium flagship lineup. With the 10th gen of the most successful lineup, Samsung brought a number of new upgrades ranging from design, display, powerful hardware, and new triple cameras setup. It was also the company’s first phone with Corning Gorilla Glass 6, PowerShare and Under-glass fingerprint scanner. Last but not least all these goodies come at a significantly higher price than the predecessor. Overall the S10 is a solid flagship offering a lot of stuff for people who are looking for a compact premium phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 has a hard time standing on its own. While it is easy to recommend the excellent Galaxy S10 Plus for its battery or the Galaxy S10e for its lower price, it's hard to say the S10 is a better option than either. Let's be clear, the Galaxy S10 is a killer phone that delivers near-perfect performance across the board. The conundrum is deciphering whether it's worth the step up from the S10e, or a step down from the S10 Plus when price and feature list are compared. The S10 may be just right for many, while not enough or too much for others.

The Galaxy S10 is a fitting 10th anniversary phone for Samsung and its storied S series. It delivers on change with a novel-looking Infinity-O screen so large it displaces the front camera, and a triple-lens rear camera that takes ultra-wide photos. Its in-screen fingerprint sensor tech should serve you well, while its Wireless PowerShare could serve your friends well. That’s a lot of change – just know that it comes at a high price.

In the end, we feel like the Galaxy S10 is the superb phone we could have predicted it was going to be. Years of refinement have brought us to a place where groundbreaking changes are unlikely, but as incremental upgrades go, this is one of the more meaningful ones and it's easy to recommend.

We find the industrial design to be beautiful, but the more important point is the quality of the materials and how good the general build is. The Galaxy S10 is simply excellent and we warmly recommend it and giving it an “All-stars” rating.

With MWC 2019 now behind us, numerous competitors have released equally stellar looking smartphones. The S10 is far from a reinvention for the series, and I’m slightly disappointed the main camera hasn’t seen an obvious update, but there’s plenty here regardless.

The rear camera system of the Samsung Galaxy S10 is impressive and very well balanced. Samsung did make incremental improvements over the Galaxy Note 9 (and S9) functionalities, but it is really the addition of an excellent ultra-wide camera that takes the S10 to the next level of mobile photography.

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ start at $899.99 and $999.99, respectively, and the base models ship with 8GB of RAM as well as 128GB of storage and microSDXC support. That means for $100 less than the base iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models, you get twice as much storage along with expandable memory. The Galaxy S10 series is still quite expensive, but that comparison should help put things in perspective.

Unfortunately we won’t have the Galaxy S10 in-house for review until after public availability on March 8th – so we’ll have to be a little more patient before we can post a more detailed analysis of Samsung’s new flagship devices.

Samsung unveiled three new Galaxy S10 series models at an event in San Francisco on Wednesday - the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e. Samsung's latest flagship offerings are packed to the gills with features in the hope of giving sales at the top-end of the market a boost after the underwhelming showing by the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy Note 9. The headline feature on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ is perhaps the in-display “ultrasonic” fingerprint scanner, while all three new phones feature “hole-punch” selfie cameras at the top-right.

On paper and based on Samsung's previous phone displays, the S10 could indeed be the best yet. We're looking forward to seeing that screen in person soon and comparing it to other phones in a full CNET review.

For the tenth anniversary of its flagship Galaxy S range, Samsung has added a bevy of meaningful changes and improvements to the S10. There's no question this is easily the best smartphone that Samsung has ever built – and that's really saying something. It might even be the best Android smartphone, but we'll need to spend a lot more time with the device before making that call.

So here’s a revelation on our part that may surprise you: The Galaxy S10e was our favorite of the three models, at least until we had played with the ceramic version of the Galaxy S10+. We are quite happy to see a smaller flagship phone with a flat display. The look and feel of the S10e was unexpectedly nice, and we can see a lot of consumers being attracted by the Galaxy S10e.

Overall, the three phones that we could get hands on with before launch don’t have ground-breaking new features, but they do offer solid specs and are an excellent step up from last year’s models (and have the price tags to prove it). Plus, they’re attractive and it’s great to see a smartphone manufacturer think beyond the notch without adding the bulk of a bezel.

We’re trying to secure devices for review, namely the S10 or S10+, although previous attempts haven’t been successful and we typically have had to go out and buy at least one of our review units. As a result, we need to be smart about what we test. Because these are offered in two versions each, with either the Qualcomm or Samsung chips, what type of review would you prefer to see?

The Galaxy S10 5G is a smartphone for early adopters – those who are willing to grab a new technology with both hands, and don’t mind paying for the privilege. The huge display is great for videos and gaming, but it may not realize its full potential for months.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is every bit a flagship smartphone even if it is the smaller sibling of the S10 Plus. Specs are toned down in some aspects like front camera, memory configuration, and battery capacity, but it’s running the same powerful chipset and triple rear cameras. Samsung’s new pair of Galaxies are the best they’ve ever put out, with every conceivable new smartphone feature packed into their sexy, glass bodies. Will it be enough to drive sales back? It depends – people who want the best features in a flagship will probably gravitate to these two, while people who just want the essentials and a taste of Samsung’s top-end features will naturally gravitate to the more affordable S10e.

Finally, I have to really applaud (as weird and sad as that is…) Samsung for continuing to employ a 3.5mm headphone jack on the new Galaxy S10. It’s been very evident that there’s been numerous phone manufacturers who have dropped the headphone jack without much of a plan of what to do to replace its functionality while keeping good and practical audio quality. The fact that Samsung introduced a new set of wireless headphones without getting rid of the standard 3.5mm jack showcases you can have the best of both worlds. Actually if you’d also account for the fact that Samsung also notably increased the battery capacity while keeping the jack further seems to discredit some of the nonsensical rationales we’ve been presented over the past year or two.

Still, with bigger and better displays, scalable cameras and an impressive new in-display biometric solution, the mainline Galaxy S10 and S10+ are feats of engineering. Predictably, the latest high-end Galaxies don't fail to dazzle. They have the fine build that we've come to expect from Samsung's flagships, class-leading displays that are now synonymous with the brand and cameras that have taken the next evolutionary step by embracing the ultra-wide angle modes. Oh, and also internals that make competing offerings seem like a compromise.

With each year passing in the smartphone market it's increasingly difficult to produce a device markedly better than the previous one, so it's almost foolish to expect a major jump or revamp over the last. For Samsung, the age-old "if it ain't broke" mantra most definitely applies. There are improvements, and in some areas even market leading ideas, like the UltraSonic fingerprint sensor which - we hope - outperforms the current in-display optical ones.
