The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is a fine phone. The design and materials are a bit less refined than I was hoping, but the Glasstic rear is more durable than even Gorilla Glass would be. The flat display glass may turn off some, but the 120Hz refresh rate turned me on. I really liked the overall size and usability of the phone, and the six different colors mean you’ll likely find a version to suit your personal style. Other pros include solid performance, excellent battery life, and straightforward software. However, we have to consider the fact that the phone is around two years old at this point. We’ve since checked back in on the phone to see how it’s aged in our review revisit. And while it is $100 cheaper than at launch, there are newer and better options available at around $600, with the Pixel 7 being the main one. If you’re a Samsung fan, the Galaxy S21 FE may be a better option, even though it costs more. Although it’s not miles better in terms of specs and features, it is guaranteed to get updated all the way up to Android 15, while OS support for the S20 FE is likely to end after Android 13. We think this alone justifies the extra $100 the S21 FE will set you back, although not everyone will agree. If you don’t want to spend more than $600 on a Samsung phone and don’t care as much about software updates, the Galaxy S20 FE is still a great option for you.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE has been announced, which offers a faster Snapdragon 888 chip, a better 240Hz touch response rate and improved cameras with a beefed up Night mode and dual recording mode. It has the same $699 price as the S20 FE. And now there's the $799 Galaxy S22, which offers many of Samsung's latest features for just $100 more than the S21 FE. We do not recommend buying a Galaxy S20 FE, but the original review follows. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE remains one of the better values in Android phones. For a reasonable $699, Samsung gives you a 120Hz display, 5G and triple cameras with 30x Space Zoom. That's $100 cheaper than the newer Samsung Galaxy S21.

With so many phones competing within $100 of the S20 FE’s price, it’s hard to say the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is the best of the bunch now we’re over a year out from launch. However, for the Samsung fan, the Fan Edition complements the S20 lineup in a way that makes it worth saving a few hundred dollars. Moreover, it now costs $599, which may outweigh the phone’s age at this point. That said, if you’re looking for the newest Fan Edition phone from Samsung, the Galaxy S21 FE has a lot to offer — even if its market timing is a bit off.

While the competition is heating up for flagship phones that cost less than $700, the Galaxy S20 FE remains be tough to beat. It offers a big display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, strong cameras and solid performance in a colorful design. I can deal with the plastic back and most other trade-off; I just wish Samsung included a more advanced ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and the battery life was a bit longer. The Galaxy S20 FE's powerful zoom, in particular, help Samsung stand out against the likes of the Google Pixel 5 and iPhone 12. The Pixel 5 offers better photo quality, but its performance trails the S20 FE. And while the iPhone 12 is faster than the S20 and also delivers better looking photos, it doesn't last as long on a charge and lacks a telephoto zoom. (We go into greater depth on the differences in our Samsung Galaxy S20 FE vs. iPhone 12 face-off.). Some may prefer the Samsung Galaxy S21, which costs $100 more than the Galaxy S20 FE. The Galaxy S20 FE is not perfect. If you stumble upon an Exynos version it’ll be a notable performance downgrade if you’re a power user. Additionally, the slow charging times are only excused by the fact that there’s a charger in the box at all. Image quality hasn’t quite kept up with 2021 flagships, either. Nevertheless, the rest of the Galaxy S20 FE has largely aged like a fine wine. It was priced at a pretty competitive $699 at launch last year, and it saw a price drop to $600 in subsequent months. We thought the phone was a good deal at launch and a great deal following the price drop. But even now the Galaxy S20 FE is still worth a look, even with the brand-new Pixel 6 offering a similar level of bang for your buck.

Is the Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) the best price-to-value phone that Samsung has ever released? It is, both on paper, and in our review, indicating a shift in Samsung's flagship phone strategy. How is it holding up a while after its release and should you buy it? We aim to answer these questions in our full review. Intended to be a cheaper version of the S20 series, with all the right compromises and corners cut, the Galaxy S20 FE is priced at just $700 at Samsung with bonuses, but it is often discounted and can be found for a lot less these days. Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Best Buy are also running awesome Galaxy S20 FE deals. This is actually an amazing value, and makes the S20 FE one of the cheapest phones with the 2020 flagship Snapdragon 865 5G chipset on the market. On paper, the S20 FE has the other specs to match, too, such as a 120Hz OLED display, a triple camera with 3x telephoto optical zoom, and a big, 4500mAh battery.

All in all, the Galaxy S20 FE makes few concessions to reach its lower price point, offering the same level of quality and performance you'd expect from a modern Samsung device. It's a fantastic value, priced hundreds below Samsung's other flagship devices, and even with the Galaxy S21 out for only $100 more, the S20 FE offers a better value and a bigger screen for less. The six colors also give you some vibrant style, which you can take even further with the best Galaxy S20 FE cases for a Samsung experience that's bold and unique, inside and out. So while the S21 FE might be on the horizon, the S20 FE remains one of the better smartphone deals from Samsung.

To the casual user, Samsung's Galaxy S20 FE 5G might not appear to be much of an upgrade given that it only adds 5G support to the spec sheet. This would have been fine if this phone had been launched alongside the 4G model in India in 2020, like it did in other parts of the world. We have reviewed the 4G model and it's easy to tell that the Snapdragon 865 silicon makes quite a difference in terms of performance, and also doesn't heat up as much as Samsung's own Exynos SoC. However, it's hard to recommend to a gamer given its touch sensitivity issues. If you are looking for performance, there are smartphones like the Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro (Review) and the iQoo 7 Legend that get you the Snapdragon 888 processor and faster charging from Rs. 39,990. If you can stretch your budget by Rs. 2,000, there's the OnePlus 9 (Review), which offers the Snapdragon 888 processor, an excellent display that can handle bright sunlight, faster charging, and no touch sensitivity issues when gaming.

So, for its asking price of Rs 47,999, should you opt for the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G? Absolutely. In my books, the S20 FE 5G packs immense value and is a more well-rounded offering compared to the OnePlus 9 and ASUS ROG Phone 5 too. While you will miss out on uber-fast charging speeds and the latest Snapdragon processor, the S20 FE 5G’s Snapdragon 865 chip is still rapid and the smartphone’s robust, weather-proof chassis more than make up for its slow top-up speeds. Not to mention, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G offers a more balanced camera setup too (thanks to its dedicated telephoto lens), and rest assured, is among the best phones from the company’s stables I’ve used to date.

While the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition perhaps isn’t the best example of a ‘lite’ phone we’ve seen, it’s still a great choice for plenty of people who were interested in the standard Galaxy S20 but found that handset a little too expensive. The S20 FE has three of the S20’s winning traits: a fast screen refresh rate, great photography potential, and a powerful processor. It’s just a shame that the design feels a little cheap, and the price isn’t as low as we might have hoped.

With the S20 FE (Exynos), Samsung has attempted to bring together many of the key smartphone features that fans are looking for. Central to those features are an impressive display and a versatile camera. The S20 FE delivers on both counts with its 6.5-inch Super AMOLED LCD and triple camera that offers wide, ultra-wide, and tele-lens modules. Overall we found image quality to be quite similar to the slightly more expensive Samsung Galaxy Note20: the S20 FE delivers good quality in core areas, with generally accurate exposure, pleasant color, and a good texture-to-noise compromise. Performance for zoom, autofocus, preview, and night shots are areas for improvement, but the ultra-wide camera and bokeh shots are nice strengths. Video quality is competent, too, so the S20 FE (Exynos) is a solid choice overall for smartphone photography enthusiasts after a device in the mid-range price bracket.

If you want the 5G version, you’ll have to source the Snapdragon variant, which is not easy to get since Samsung is yet to offer it here. Setting aside the processor versions, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is a good alternative to the Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20+. It has good cameras, a 120Hz and AMOLED display, a large battery, a fashionable design, and offers a flagship-level performance at a lower price. Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 FE at an event called "Galaxy for every fan", and FE stands for Fan Edition. It was meant to be a Galaxy flagship that was more affordable for Samsung fans, but for me, it wasn't that because I wasn't really a Samsung fan. What the Galaxy S20 FE did do was turn me into a fan, so maybe that name was justified after all.

The Galaxy S20 FE is much more than a Fan Edition, it’s the phone that Samsung needed for 2020. The prices of the flagship phones has grown out of control, combine that with a worldwide pandemic, and it was clear something needed to be done. Fortunately, Samsung cut corners in all the right places to deliver a phone with flagship performance for a reasonable price.

If the original Samsung Galaxy S20 (and S20 Ultra) were excellent, albeit pricey phones, the company has really hit a nice balance of performance, features, and price with the Fan Edition. Best Buy was offering the carrier versions of the S20 FE on a big discount bringing the price down to sub-$500, so it was hard to say no when just about anything else in its performance class is still pushing $700. That sale might be over, but it seems new promotions are available on this phone quite often. Folks looking for the best in Android smartphone performance without breaking the back would do well to hunt around just a bit to find some nice sales, and then pick up a Galaxy S20 Fan Edition.

Which is why the S20 FE being ‘Fan Edition’ isn’t a bad name after all - this is what affordable, top-tier performance on a Samsung-backed phone looks like, so this is what you’ll get. If you’re a fan of anything else, you might have to look elsewhere.

The competition is heating up for flagship phones that cost less than $700, and the Galaxy S20 FE could be tough to beat. It offers a big display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, strong cameras and solid performance in a colorful design. The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition gets most of the things right to call it an affordable flagship…almost, I’d say. It scores high with an attractive design, excellent quality display, an amazing set of optics. The battery life could be better and my biggest gripe with this phone is the overheating issue which I hope Samsung will address. That said, for an effective price of Rs. 40,999 (including special festive offer and Rs. 4000 cashback on HDFC Bank Cards), the Galaxy S20 FE is a solid option under Rs. 45,000 and in my opinion, it is indeed a FAN-tastic phone.

Samsung used the “Fan Edition” suffix when it tried selling refurbished Galaxy Note 7 units in South Korea with smaller, safer batteries. The move might have helped Samsung recoup some of the losses it suffered following the catastrophic and embarrassing global launch (and subsequent global bans) of the Galaxy Note 7, but this was never going to be a mass-market phone. “Fan edtion” basically acknowledged that only those people who are fervently dedicated to the Samsung brand would actually buy it.

Whenever a company releases a phone meant to be a cheaper spin-off of another, my instincts tell me to brace for the worst. Not this time. Over the last few days testing the S20 FE, Cole Porter’s early-30’s ditty “(You’d be so) Easy to Love” has been continually playing in the back of my head. My opinions may shift as I continue testing the Fan Edition, but when it comes to its impressive performance, great display, laudable battery life, and excellent price, Porter said it best. And though the Galaxy S20 FE can justifiably be called a rushed-together “parts bin” phone, that doesn’t mean Samsung didn’t make something really solid here. It did. The combination of speed, a big high refresh rate screen, decent battery, competent cameras, and Samsung’s build quality add up to a result that is remarkably close to the pitch: S20 flagship features at a more reasonable price. All the S20 phones share those qualities; the flagships just have a bit more.

It’s not all perfect. The stereo speakers are of a lower caliber than the other Galaxy S20 models, only 6GB of RAM on the base variant means multitasking isn’t as good, and the bezels around the display are too big by the standards set by Samsung itself with its flagship phones in the last two years. Samsung also isn’t shipping the Galaxy S20 FE with a 25W super fast charger in the box, but for the asking price of $699/€749, all of that is very, very easy to ignore.

The Galaxy S20 FE 5g refines rather than innovates, and that works in everyone's favor. Three S20 models and two Note 20 models paved the way for Samsung to decide what's worth investing in (a Snapdragon 865 chipset and a solid 3x lens) and what isn't (a glass back and ultra-high-megapixel main cameras). And as of this writing, the S20 FE is a strong deal from carriers. AT&T, for example, is giving away S20 FE units for free if you sign up for a 30-month payment plan, an unlimited service plan, and trade in a phone like an iPhone 7, Galaxy S8, or Google Pixel 2. Even without these promotions, the S20 FE is the best Android phone you can buy for $699, and the right phone for 2020, making it our Editors' Choice.

It's no secret that the Galaxy S20 hasn't been a huge success. Between the pandemic and competition from other brands, a $1000+ plus Android flagship is a hard sell. So Samsung is back with with the S20 "Fan Edition." The S20 FE runs Android 10 with One UI 2.5 on the same Snapdragon 865 processor (Exynos in some countries, 4G model is Exynos, Samsung hasn't provided us with much detail about worldwide CPU distribution) as the rest of the S20 family. Comentario
Qualcomm Adreno 650:
