However, our quibbles from last year remain. We wish for an upgraded camera system next year and faster charging speeds that can match some of the ultra-rapid charging speeds we’ve seen from Chinese flagship smartphones. Including the charger in the box also feels crucial seeing as its best rivals are also doing that. It's also a touch disappointing that Samsung has increased their prices this year, while not really offering a lot of upgrades. The Samsung Galaxy S24 starts from S$1,288, while its equivalent edition from last year was only S$1,148. Likewise, the Galaxy S24+ now starts from a hefty S$1,528, while its predecessor was only S$1,328.

The specifications and price point of the Samsung Galaxy S24+ would put it at the top of most other company’s ranges. If therefore you have your eyes on the S24 Ultra but are worried about paying such a high price, it could make a great alternative if you want to save a bit of cash. That said, there is quite a bit you’re missing out on if you opt for the cheaper device. The biggest differences are the lack of a super-high resolution main sensor, no dedicated macro mode, and only three lenses instead of four. Most people don’t need 200MP so that’s not a huge loss, while the extra telephoto lens is more a bonus than essential. It’s a bit surprising to not have a macro mode though, especially as most competitors offer this. Looking at the S24+ in isolation, images and video from it are very good in a wide range of situations.

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ (Exynos) battery outperformed the regular version, Samsung Galaxy S24, thanks to better experiences in autonomy, and charging, but its global battery score remained below the average of our database. When used moderately, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ (Exynos) managed to last a little bit more than two days, which is below average in our database. Usages such as watching videos, gaming, and browsing social apps outdoors showed good autonomy, but for the other use cases, performances were below average. The charging experience of the S24+ (Exynos) was slightly above average. The device required less than 1 hour and a half to reach a full charge on a wired charge.

With a large, crisp, and colorful display, powerful hardware, and great battery life, Samsung's Galaxy S24+ is the sweet spot for the product line for the first time ever. It's not the perfect upgrade, but if you're buying your first new Galaxy phone in a while, this is the one to get.

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is undoubtedly one of the best Androids you can buy today, and despite the lack of S Pen support and other features is surprisingly close to the S24 Ultra in terms of overall quality. It ticks all of the important boxes, offering a clean design, beautiful screen, superb performance, versatile cameras, powerful software, and generous battery life. This is all true of both the Exynos and Snapdragon versions, with only a very slight improvement on the latter. It’s a happy medium sitting in the middle of the range if you want a big phone and have the money to spend, you won’t be disappointed.

Before I give my final verdict, let's talk about alternatives. The OnePlus 12 (Review) is an excellent option with a bigger screen, slightly better cameras, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, a bigger battery, and faster charging. It's also cheaper than the Galaxy S24+. The Google Pixel 8 Pro (Review) will offer better camera performance in stills, added AI features, and a similar or better software experience. Again, the Pixel 8 Pro is also cheaper and has a better telephoto camera. You can also switch to the iPhone 15 Plus, which, while lacking a telephoto camera, will offer battery life and performance. Finally, you can also give the Galaxy S23 Ultra a shot. It will provide better performance, a similar-sized display, S-Pen support, a bigger battery, and better cameras. You can probably get the phone for about the same price as the Galaxy S24+.

As I said before, the Galaxy S24+ is in a weird spot in the lineup. Being the one in the middle, it’s not the most of anything. It’s not the most powerful, or feature-packed; that’s the Ultra. It’s not the most affordable or pocketable; that’s the base variant. But, let’s not think about it as the meat of this tech sandwich. Let’s think of this phone as an entity all its own. The Galaxy S24+ is a well-built, nice-looking, and powerful phone with a beautiful display, a powerful camera, some stellar speakers, and great battery life. No, because although it has the capability to perform just as well as the big bad wolf of the series, the S24 Ultra, the S24 Plus and the S24 are let down by throttling issues in resource-hungry tasks, and in the case of the S24 specifically, battery life as well. Even though the Exynos 2400 SoC can go toe to toe with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Samsung has its work cut out to make it just as efficient and resource-friendly. In every other criterion though, the S24 and the S24 Plus are indeed almost as good as the S24. They have a pretty solid build that is only trumped by the S24 Ultra’s Corning Armor glass and the titanium frame. They have a design that screams premium just like their elder brother, Galaxy AI is practically the same, and in day-to-day performance, the non-Ultra devices are just as capable as the Ultra.

It probably makes more sense to compare this device to the S24 rather than the S24 Ultra, as they have a lot more in common. I’ll do that in an upcoming review. But I’ve concluded that the S24+ is not a radical upgrade over the S23+ but it does improve on what was already an excellent phone with a brighter screen, bigger battery and improved camera software. Overall, the S24+ stands tall when compared to 2024 Android flagships from other brands – such as OnePlus 12, Xiaomi 14, Honor Magic 6 Pro and ROG Phone 8.

Having spent three months with the latest Galaxy phones, I'm compelled to recommend the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus to most shoppers this year, professional users included. The new QHD+ display, Galaxy AI features, and base memory of 12GB RAM/256GB storage for $300 less than the Ultra make it the better phone deal. I'll leave you with this: If you're wary of cloud-based AI features and their potential security issues, there's an option to "Process data only on device" within the Galaxy S24 settings. Go to Settings > Advanced features > Advanced intelligence > and toggle the feature on.

I think the Galaxy S24+ is the S24 most people should buy. I've thought that about the Plus model of each generation of Samsung's S-series phones for years, but it's truer than ever this time: while the S24 Ultra got a $100 price hike over last year's nearly identical S23 Ultra, the S24+ starts at the same $1,000 the S23+ did. And it enjoys some notable upgrades: the newer S24+ is just a little bigger than the S23+ was; it has a higher-resolution, brighter display; and it comes with 12 gigs of RAM — a jump from the eight gigs found in its predecessor. I really don't think most people will care about most of Samsung's new Galaxy AI-branded features. Some of them, like Samsung's various live translation features, will be game-changing for some users.

That's the million-dollar question. My take is if you're planning to upgrade from the Galaxy S23 series or even the S22 series, just don't. Playing a waiting game might be a sensible option as the upgrades are only incremental, if you're not an AI buff that is. However, if you're not coming from one of the flagship smartphones of recent years, then this a sensible option if you want a Samsung phone with a big screen but don't want to shell out the premium commanded by the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

All the models in the S24 series are equipped with the same audio specs, and performance results were relatively similar among all the three models, except for a few minor differences. For example in playback, the S24+ lost a few points in volume-step inconsistency when compared with the S24 Ultra. But some of those points were regained with the S24+’s better management of artifacts than the S24 Ultra. The S24+ provided a very good overall recording performance. Samsung has created another strong full-sized flagship phone in the Galaxy S24 Plus, and has taken some steps forward with a more competitive display and an even larger battery. Its Galaxy AI features range from cool gimmicks to outright useful tools as well. However, the lack of progress on the camera front and the shortcomings of the Exynos 2400 chip are harder to justify here on the Galaxy S24 Plus, with its £200 premium over the Galaxy S24. Expectations are simply higher at this end of the market, and you have to feel that Samsung needs to work even harder to differentiate its middle model in future – or else drop the price a little.

After years of being just a blown up version of Samsung's standard flagship model, the Galaxy S24 Plus is finally coming into its own, offering more RAM and a much better display to better differentiate itself. While still not as robust as the Ultra, the Plus is plenty powerful and should not disappoint you where it matters most: performance and battery life. Samsung is banking on Galaxy AI to sell the phone, and while the new features are fun, they're not really a selling point, especially when they're coming to the Galaxy S23 Plus (and the rest of last year's flagships) at some point. And if you're looking for a generational leap in camera quality, you may be slightly disappointed, although Samsung is thankfully addressing some camera woes with updates. Still, the Galaxy S24 Plus represents a bit of a turning point for Samsung's Plus models by giving us the best of both its siblings: an iPhone-like design with a large display and better specs.

Unlike past years, where the chipset was consistent across three models, this year’s Galaxy S24 series only sees the Galaxy S24 Ultra getting Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for its chipset. As it stands, the Galaxy S24+ cannot become a true “no stylus” alternative for the Galaxy S24 series, since it’s not the same processor (Exynos 2400). As far as we can tell during our trials, all three models are equally quick at handling Galaxy AI-related tasks. If your only concern is the number of milliseconds it needs to edit your photos or translate your calls, the three phones are all viable choices. Unfortunately, a hands-on session also meant that we didn’t get to see benchmarks, so we can’t tell you if the performance differences between Exynos or Snapdragon chipsets are apparent in other areas (like bootup, gaming, etc.).

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ provides a complete package for most users. It's the better option for people who don't care about the stylus offered in the Galaxy S24 Ultra or want a more affordable phone that won't break the bank (too much). Since Galaxy AI is available on all three Galaxy S24 series models, the S24+ can also enhance your daily user experience. Of course, Galaxy AI has plenty of room for improvement. But what it offers now is already good enough if you want to play around with some AI-based features. The best thing about the Galaxy S24+ is that it gets seven years of Android updates. Even if it's a bit pricey, you can consider it a long-term investment since it can stay relevant until 2031. If you want the same features in a smaller package, the standard Samsung Galaxy S24 (RM4099) is the way to go.

Galaxy AI took center stage at the first Unpacked event of the year. In fact, Samsung barely touched upon the hardware specs, opting to flaunt the capabilities stemming from its cosy partnership with Google instead. Galaxy AI is powered by Google Cloud, unless you’ve toggled the “process data only on device” setting under ‘advanced intelligence.’ In that case, these AI features run locally on the Exynos 2400 (more on the chip later).

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, in terms of hardware, is a near-carbon copy of last year’s Galaxy S23 Plus. Yes, there are upgrades here that I appreciate, like the screen increase to 6.7 inches, the introduction of LTPO tech for the first time and the Exynos 2400 chipset, but for a phone that costs a grand, I was expecting something a little more exciting – especially when looking at the premium competition like the OnePlus 12. That’s especially true when it comes to key elements like camera tech that remains completely untouched for the third year in a row. It’s a fine everyday snapper, but it’s no longer exceptional. All this while the more expensive Ultra model has seen several camera upgrades in the same period. Thankfully there are elements here that pull it back from the brink, like the capable (and very handy) Galaxy AI, a lovely 6.7-inch QHD screen, the customisable OneUI 6 and a whopping seven years of OS upgrades, but if next year’s S25 Plus again looks the same, we might have a problem on our hands.

Galaxy AI is nice to have, but don’t expect it to change the way you use your phone just yet. Most of the tools are integrated with Samsung’s apps, so you won’t get as much benefit if you prefer to install other apps, and Galaxy AI barely works without the cloud. Maybe Galaxy AI will improve over time, and you’ll be able to find out with the S24 Plus —Samsung’s decision to extend support to seven years is a win. The $1,000 price tag is reasonable for a high-end Samsung phone, but your wallet might be happier with a cheaper phone like the Pixel 8 ($699 at Amazon), which takes better photos and has cleaner software. There’s also the OnePlus 12 (on the product’s website), which is just as fast and costs $200 less, and I actually like its camera a bit more in some instances.

Ah, the age-old question—how do Samsung’s affordable flagships stack up? Well, as for the Plus variants, they’ve always felt like the awkward middle child to me. They’re essentially just larger versions of the regular S-series, offering a tad more battery life and screen real estate. But when you’re shelling out a grand for the S24+, it’s hard not to think you might as well snag the S24 Ultra or even last year’s S23 Ultra at a lower price point, especially since the S23 series is also set to receive all those fancy AI features. I spent two weeks with the new Samsung Galaxy S24+, and the whole time I asked myself, “Is it worth choosing it among the trio of flagship devices from the Korean company?” The thing is, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ is indeed a very good smartphone. Even very good, and noticeably better and cheaper than its predecessor (comparing prices on the day of release). Of course, it has some drawbacks, but they are very few. However, in my opinion, some of the Galaxy AI features simply need updating. Don’t get me wrong – AI features are indeed very interesting, useful, and promising, but some of them need refinement. However, I believe that with further updates, the situation will improve because the manufacturer will certainly not spare resources for investment in AI. Is the smartphone worth its price, and do I recommend buying it? Yes, and there’s hardly any room for debate here.

So, the Galaxy S24 Plus is shaping up to be quite a decent Android phone that inches closer and closer to its big bad brother, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Surely, it loses the specs-to-specs race as it's clearly lacking in some areas, but overall, we are seeing some very decent hardware and software updates that surely go a long way and greatly improve the user experience. The significant battery life bump is worth mentioning here, a rather important aspect It wouldn't make sense to update to the Galaxy S24 Plus if you're using a Galaxy S23 Plus or a Galaxy S22 Plus, but anyone using an older Galaxy phone looking to upgrade without breaking the piggy bank will probably have reasons to consider the new mid-sized Galaxy, which is steadily With a starting price tag of $999, the Galaxy S24 Plus surely is a premium phone, but it seemingly offers more than enough to justify its price tag. The Galaxy S24+ is the best-ever Plus variant Galaxy S phone that Samsung has ever released. The big, bright, and beautiful screen, coupled with great stereo speakers, makes this phone a really good phone for media consumption. Its design may look very simple, but it works by getting out of sight and letting users enjoy the phone instead. It is quite slim and comfortable to hold. Battery life is great, too. It offers a very balanced camera performance across all its cameras, front and rear. No matter the conditions, the primary and selfie cameras perform really well across still images and videos. The telephoto and ultrawide cameras have started to show their age, though, and we would like to see better hardware next year. The performance of the Exynos 2400 turned out to be quite good, even if it isn’t as good as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Battery life is good, too. The smoothness of One UI is also a sight to behold, and most of the AI features work well.

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ display’s overall performance was the same as the Galaxy S24 in all respects except one. But thanks to the S24+’s larger screen size, which gives the device a larger screen-to-body ratio, the management of artifacts was a few points better than on the smaller S24.

The Galaxy S24+ is a small but welcome upgrade to Samsung’s flagship family. While it doesn’t push the market forward specs-wise, the company made big improvements in sustainability with improved software support and parts availability. The display brought significant improvements, but battery life stayed the same despite a bigger battery. The camera is almost unchanged, but now packs lots of AI-powered edit options. The S24+ has a few “one step forward, one step back” scenarios, but the worst is probably the choice of the Exynos 2400 chip in the global version. Its performance deficit can be forgiven, but not the noticeably worse energy efficiency. Curiously enough, the upgrades on the S24+ display and battery capacity helped highlight the better efficiency of the S24 Ultra’s Qualcomm chip. But I digress, consumers won’t have the choice of a processor, and in the end, the Galaxy S24+ is still a very capable phone, regardless of chip. And Samsung needs to justify the price difference it charges on the much better S24 Ultra.

Reviewing Samsung's Galaxy S24 Plus, a bigger, faster option vs the regular phone, that isn't as expensive as the Ultra. You've got the same clever pants AI features and camera tools, while the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus uses that Exynos 2400 here in the UK. It's not as beefy vs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 but gaming on Genshin Impact is still smooth, while battery life is commendable. This OneUI 6.1 smartphone may not be a big upgrade over last year's Plus for hardware, but Samsung has been busy adding AI smarts. The Galaxy S24 Plus can helpfully auto-edit any photos you shoot with the camera, which itself has improved with boosted processing skills. Here in the UK, this smartphone is powered by Samsung's own Exynos 2400. Battery life only drops faster than the Snapdragon model when you're using the camera a lot or gaming, otherwise you'll get a full day from one charge no worries.

There’s also the OnePlus 12 to consider, which delivers similarly great performance and battery life for $800. It’s a great package, but you also have to deal with a curved screen, a lower IP rating, no AI tricks, and fewer software updates. The regular Galaxy S24 shares many of the S24 Plus’ great qualities for the same $800 price, but you’ll need to put up with a smaller screen, lesser battery life, and slower charging. You have a lot of options to consider against the Galaxy S24 Plus, as is the case when you’re looking to buy any smartphone. But each alternative to the S24 Plus also has its own share of compromises. If the Galaxy S24 Plus’ strong suits line up with what you prioritize in a phone — hardware, display, performance, and battery life — I can’t recommend it enough.

It’s a powerful phone with powerful AI technology in the software and seven years of software updates. I enjoyed every moment I spent with this phone, and continue to enjoy it. Immediately before this phone, I was rocking a foldable phone that I loved to death. However, the Galaxy S24+ is so good that I swiftly made it my daily driver.

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is the Goldilocks phone in Samsung’s 2024 lineup of premium Android smartphones. It’s considerably more affordable than the S24 Ultra we reviewed, yet you still get a big 6.7” QHD AMOLED 120Hz 2600 nit display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (in the US, Exynos in some other regions) and Samsung’s new AI features. Both the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus are extremely powerful smartphones that brought some improvements in every department, whether that’s the display, design, chipset, camera, or even the battery. But are these improvements enough to make to upgrade to one of these new smartphones? Well, that depends, if you already own the Samsung Galaxy S23 or any other flagship smartphone released in the last two years, then the upgrade is simply not enough. You will see the improvements if you do upgrade but they are not enough considering the amount of money you will waste. It’s better to wait for the next generation of Samsung Galaxy S series of smartphones to make the upgrade worth it. But if you are using an older Samsung Galaxy S20, then you should upgrade and you will feel the upgrade in every area, especially in performance, camera, and battery life. If you are comfortable with a smaller phone and don’t care about the bigger battery the standard Samsung Galaxy S24 will serve you perfectly.

Let me end this Galaxy S24 Plus review by again emphasizing the phone's $999 price. There’s a $300 gap between it and the more expensive Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, I’m inclined to say that there’s better value going for the S24 Plus — this time around at least. Apart from the S24 Ultra’s S Pen, titanium trimmed design, and extra 5x telephone camera with optical zoom, I feel that the S24 Plus makes a strong argument for offering more value. Not only is its processing performance, brightness output, and long lasting battery life almost identical to the Ultra, but the Galaxy AI features are the same from phone to phone. Photo enthusiasts and creative types may prefer the Galaxy S24 Ultra. For me, though, I think the Galaxy S24 Plus excels at the the types of features I want in a flagship phone — and without the excessive price of a more premium model.

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is a superb value considering it shares so many features with the more expensive S24 Ultra, including an incredible display, ultra-fast performance, long battery life, and top cameras. It also matches the price, seven-year software update commitment, and AI prowess of Google's Pixel 8 Pro, while offering considerably more power. The Galaxy S24 Ultra offers just a little more all around, including an S Pen stylus, extra camera zoom, a more durable build, and Wi-Fi 7, making it the best Android phone you can buy right now and our Editors' Choice. But if you want something a little smaller and don't need those extras, the Galaxy S24+ is a top-notch alternative that will last you for years to come.

That, however, might be a bit of a comparison for "scientific purposes" only since most people won't get the chance to pick and choose their chipset. Plus, at least from an experience standpoint, there doesn't appear to be any major difference one way or the other. All things considered, there is a lot to like about the S24+. With its QHD display, 12GB of RAM, and seven years of software updates, it arguably makes more sense than its S23+ predecessor. Then again, the Plus has never really enjoyed much attention from buyers, which is unlikely to change. While you definitely won't be disappointed in any way by picking up a Galaxy S24+, there might be better options to consider. For one, the Galaxy S23 Ultra can offer an S Pen, notably better cameras and no Exynos uncertainty for less than what you would pay for the S24+. The Galaxy S23+ seems like an even better deal while offering much or less the same user experience.

I began my review of the S24 and S24+ with low expectations. After all, they weren't very different (visibly) than their predecessors. But as I spent more time with these devices, their minimalist design and slick UX grew on me. Then came the built-in generative AI features, which are more convenient and intuitive than most other third-party bots. There’s even greater potential with the live translation tools, especially with international travel basically back to pre-pandemic levels. The new software aids, combined with subtle design tweaks, help the S24 and S24+ make a more compelling case for upgrading from an S22 or earlier models. Or switching over from other brands, for that matter. Even though OpenAI and Google are already well ahead in the generative AI game, Samsung still deserves some credit for simplifying these functions — at least while it keeps offering Galaxy AI for free until the end of 2025.

The Galaxy S24 Plus finally feels like a proper step-up model for the first time. It’s powerful, looks the part, and those AI additions are undeniably slick. However, it launches into highly contested territory. A Google Pixel 8 Pro costs the same and has the edge on camera quality. The OnePlus 12 is considerably cheaper yet takes the lead on battery life. An iPhone 15 Plus might not have a zoom lens but is somehow easier on the wallet. Unlike the productivity minded S24 Ultra, which justifies its higher price with a titanium build and Gorilla Armor glass, the biggest reason I can see to put one of these in your pocket is if you just can’t cope with the regular Galaxy S24’s compact 6.1in screen. Faster charging and a higher screen resolution sweeten the deal a little, but not enough to make the Plus the pick of the bunch.

But even flashier AI features like Circle to Search and Instant Slow-mo are hardly breaking new ground in areas average users will appreciate, and by its own admission, Samsung may eventually lock these features behind a paywall.

And if you're looking for a generational leap in camera quality, you may be slightly disappointed. Still, the Galaxy S24 Plus represents a bit of a turning point for Samsung's Plus models by giving us the best of both its siblings: an iPhone-like design with a large display and better specs. This is a good phone that more people should consider over the base model, especially if they want to save a few hundred dollars compared to the Ultra.

At best, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ is an obligatory generational update that’s only worth upgrading to if you’re currently on an older or even a mid-range device. However, if you’re on last year’s model, you can give this one a pass. Whether you’re fascinated by Galaxy AI or not, you’re actually not obligated to own the new Galaxy S24 series in order to enjoy it. As recently confirmed by Samsung itself, the new feature will eventually arrive to its last-gen flagship line-up and foldables, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 family sometime by mid-2024. So if you happen to own these devices, there’s little to no reason for you to shift over to the newer series, unless you’re not willing to wait that long. In essence, the Galaxy S24+ isn’t a bad phone.

Samsung's Galaxy S24 Plus is powered by the Exynos 2400 in the UK, vs the S24 Ultra running Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. But which is best for gaming, and is battery life affected? I've been testing the Samsung S24 Plus and that Galaxy S24 Ultra, to see if Exynos 2400 really is inferior to SD 8 Gen 3 for Genshin Impact action and beyond. We start this Plus vs Ultra battle with a bit of benchmarking, using GeekBench 6 as well as 3D Mark to test the CPU and GPU. But I always prefer real life testing, so I've spent a few days playing with these Samsung phones. The Exynos 2400 holds up well compared with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, so don't discount it. That Galaxy S24 Plus can blaze through Genshin Impact and other stress tests with only very occasional, minor stumbles.

Now is the conclusion and this is where I usually ask the question “should you buy the thing that we’re reviewing” but for this, I want to ask you another question – should you be worried and avoid the Exynos version. Throughout my tests, I’d say no. Most of the world is getting Exynos 2400 for the S24 and S24+ and I think Samsung did improve a lot. It shows great gaming performance, great emulation performance, and also rather good battery life, all things considered. And I have a message for everyone. My job here is to show you how well the Exynos 2400 performs and I did that. Somehow that made headlines around the world and I also helped clear many people’s doubts about this new Exynos chip. I didn’t know those test has such a big impact and I appreciate all of your comments and support. So, the Galaxy S24 Plus is shaping up to be quite a decent Android phone that inches closer and closer to its big bad brother, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Surely, it loses the specs-to-specs race as it's clearly lacking in some areas, but overall, we are seeing some very decent hardware and software updates that will surely greatly improve the user experience. It wouldn't make sense to update to the Galaxy S24 Plus if you're using a Galaxy S23 Plus or a Galaxy S22 Plus, but anyone using an older Galaxy phone looking to upgrade without breaking the piggy bank will probably have reasons to consider the new mid-sized Galaxy. With a starting price tag of $999, the Galaxy S24 Plus surely is a premium phone, but it seemingly offers more than enough to justify its price tag. Of course, we will reserve our judgement for our final review, but it's highly doubtful that Samsung has taken a misstep.

Similarly, if you must have S Pen and big displays, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the only true option among the three. The upgraded Vision Booster and 2,600-nits peak brightness across all three models can be very nice, although we doubt most people would be struggling with its previous peak brightness. Without throwing the Galaxy S24 Ultra at a wall to determine its dent resistance, the Titanium body is an aesthetic choice, and nothing more at the moment.

It's quite obvious that Galaxy AI is doing the heavy lifting this year, with most of the hardware improvements and software features heavily relying on the on-device AI algorithms. For yet another year, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the center of attention with the new telephoto camera, titanium side frame, and flat frontal design. However, the changes in the Galaxy S24 and S24+ are more than welcome. The slight bump in the battery capacity and the upgrade to brighter LTPO OLED panels are significant upgrades. In fact, the Galaxy S24+, with its higher resolution LTPO panel and 4,900 mAh battery, put it much closer to the S24 Ultra than ever before. We are curious to see how this plays out because some may prefer the S24+ over the Ultra due to their similar feature set and big price gap. What's more, we are eager to see how the new AI-driven features aid real-life situations and whether Samsung's heavy bet on AI instead of offering more meaningful hardware upgrades is enough to boost sales and spark users' interest.

The Galaxy S24 starts at $1,099, and the S24+ at $1,399. Both handsets come in ‘Onyx Black,’ ‘Marble Gray,’ ‘Cobalt Violet,’ ‘Amber Yellow,’ and Samsung Store exclusive colours, ‘Jade Green,’ ‘Sapphire Blue’ and ‘Sandstone Orange.’ There’s a lot to test out for the first time in several years with the Galaxy S24 series, and I’m pretty excited to try out the S24 Ultra. Samsung’s new Galaxy AI features seem useful and could make my day-to-day easier. A full review of the Galaxy S24 Ultra will hit MobileSyrup in the coming weeks after I’ve spent more time testing out the smartphone.

Samsung’s decision to increase the screen resolution to match the Ultra model is a smart one. Ideally, the S24 Plus should be seen as the middle ground between both models, so this is a good step at re-establishing the middle child’s reason for being. What’s an even smarter move, however, is that the S24 Plus costs £50 less than its predecessor did at launch, despite the upgrades – a welcome move on Samsung’s part that will, surely, lead to an increase in sales. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus starts at £999 for the 256GB model, with the 512GB version priced at £1,099. It’s available to preorder today, and the phones should start shipping on 31 January.

The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra all cater to slightly different needs. The S24 is perfect for those seeking a compact device that doesn’t sacrifice on performance or high-end specs. The S24+ adds a larger display and increased storage, making it ideal for people who enjoy lots of content consumption. The S24 Ultra, with its extra camera features, titanium build and built-in S Pen. extraordinary camera capabilities and extensive storage options, stands as the ultimate flagship. Of course, the more capable devices are also more expensive. But regardless of which S24 phone you choose, you’ll be getting an excellent display, premium build quality and slick software, not to mention seven years of updates.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 may not be a complete reinvention of Samsung’s ‘baby’ flagship, but a refreshed design and genuinely exciting AI additions may make this a premium 2024 phone well worthy of your consideration – but I’ll reserve my final thoughts until I’ve spent some time with the phone and properly put it through its paces.

Samsung’s Plus variants used to be head-scratchers. They were bigger than the base Galaxy, sure, with a larger battery, but similarities elsewhere made the higher price harder to swallow. The Galaxy S24 Plus breaks from that formula with a higher resolution panel, more memory, and faster charging. On first meeting I thought it felt like a proper step-up model for the first time. I’ll need to wait until a full review to see if Samsung’s focus on AI makes any difference in daily use, and whether the return to Exynos silicon has had any negative impact on battery life. Camera image quality will be crucial, too – rivals have quickly caught up on the hardware front and Samsung was content to stick with familiar sensors for 2024 That said, even at this early stage I think those wanting a big-screen handset that looks and feels like a true flagship probably won’t be disappointed.

New product launches are always exciting, especially if you're looking to choose your next smartphone. But while these launches are fun, they can also be overwhelming, with companies delivering a lot of information in a short amount of time. Today's Samsung Unpacked event was no different.
