The Galaxy Tab S8 is still a very good tablet. The 11in display is the ideal size – big enough to work on, small enough to use in one hand – and specs are strong despite the affordable price. I wish the screen was OLED, and Android still isn’t perfect for tablets, but there’s not much else to complain about.

At the time of writing (January 2019), the Samsung Galaxy S8 is an almost two-year-old device—and in mobile technology terms, that makes it pretty much an ancient smartphone. However, while the S8’s front camera cannot quite keep up with the latest high-end smartphones, it still delivers very solid results, with mostly good exposures and a very good balance between noise reduction and detail preservation in still image mode. Selfie videos are pretty good, too, with the exception of a slightly ineffective stabilization system that can result in distortion effects. Overall, the Galaxy S8 is still an attractive option for the budding selfie shooter, despite its age.

It’s clear that, with the Galaxy S8 and S8+, Samsung set out to create more than a phone. It’s trying to build a more Apple-like ecosystem, with devices ranging from the Gear VR and the DeX dock to the new Samsung Connect app for controlling smart home gear and the Bixby assistant. It’s also evident that Samsung hasn’t yet reached that goal, as Bixby’s voice features can be hit or miss.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is a phone that should be one of the very first you look at when deciding which new phone you buy. The large, bezel-less display is truly iconic and beautiful, and the screen quality excellent. The fingerprint scanner being placed on the back of the phone is a poor decision from Samsung, as well as the iris scanner / facial recognition not working anywhere near well enough to be a real consideration. However, these aren’t deal breakers, and the improved battery life and tweaked camera will be among the best you’ll find on a top-end flagship. The Galaxy S8 is an expensive phone - have no doubts about that - but it’s one that we consider to be well worth the investment.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus continue Samsung’s recent penchant of combining outstanding smartphone design with an excellent display to create an all-around fantastic experience. The switch to the taller display has allowed Samsung to cram even more screen real estate into its new smartphones and in doing so, the company is setting the new standard for big-screen devices. Think back to what a big screen phone meant a couple of years ago and compare it to the Galaxy S8 and it’s clear that the future is much brighter, and we’re now closer than ever to phone that is all display.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 also records very low levels of noise in almost all lighting conditions, which should be appealing to photographers looking to record portraits with smooth skin tones. It has a brilliant Infinite display that blends seamlessly into the body of the phone on all the side and the new Samsung UX complements it. Build quality of the phone is good and the performance is good as well without any lags. One of the main concerns is the placement of the fingerprint sensor on the back that makes it useless. Hope the upcoming Galaxy Note8 will use under-glass fingerprint sensor as rumored. Samsung could also have used a better camera sensor to compete with the Google Pixel, since the images taken on the S8 is not a huge improvement compared to Galaxy S7. For Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India, specifications include an Exynos 8895 octa-core SoC, Mali-G71 MP20 GPU, and 4GB of RAM. The US version has the same amount of memory, but it gets Qualcomm's MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 processor and an Adreno 540 GPU. According to our Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ review, the Exynos version has proven to be an absolute beast in terms of benchmarks.

At Rs 57,900 and keeping Apple’s skyrocketing price tags in mind, Samsung sure has a winner here. It offers something new with both hardware and design and the camera is fantastic. The Infinity display is a winner and it makes every iPhone model out there look like a relic. In short, there is currently no other Android smartphone offering that even comes close.

Now, should you run out and buy this phone? I’d recommend it, for sure, but it’s not the only phone I’d recommend. There’s a lot of great options out there and the S8/S8+ are just two of the best. You’ve got the G6 from LG that’s nice, plus plenty of other upcoming devices to look forward to. If you’re in the market, though, and need a phone right now, you’d be crazy not to at least consider the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+, depending on how big your pockets are.

Most definitely yes. The Galaxy S8 is Samsung's best phone ever. In fact, it's safe to say, that it's the best Android phone in the market right now. I like the Galaxy S8 more because it's more handy and convenient. But, the 3,000mAh battery inside the Galaxy S8 does leave me asking for more. While most users would be able to get one full working day of usage out of it, heavy users will have to charge it at least twice every day. It charges like a speeding bullet though which is a big plus.

Despite the stark new appearance and display aspect ratio, it is yet to be decided if this new, almost bezel-less design trend of the Galaxy S8 is going to lead to a meaningful change in how we experience the smartphone as a tool. Having the bezels reduced is perfectly OK when it comes to aesthetics, but introducing an extra tall display is a change of practical meaning. Throughout this review, we saw that the taller display could be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it does allow for more content to be shown without increasing the width of the phone, which is always good, but on the other, it can lead to usability discomfort in case the user interface and the content viewed are not optimized well enough for the extravagant aspect ratio. And in the case of the Galaxy S8, we can’t say that all has been executed flawlessly.

In all seriousness, I wonder if perhaps I'd feel differently towards the software on the Galaxy S8 if it weren't for the fiery battery fiasco that preceded it. The new features that come with it are mostly fine additions, but they seem so underwhelming following all that drama. Why do I want another device assistant, when Google keeps selling me on its Assistant? And if I continue to wield Samsung devices, do I have to subscribe into that ecosystem to keep reaping the benefits? There are surely answers to all of these questions, but we'll have to hang tight until the Galaxy S8 goes on sale April 21.

After a month of what seemed like never ending barrage of leaks, Samsung has finally (and officially) announced its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. This marks the company's first major smartphone release since the sad demise of the Galaxy Note7 last fall, which prompted the company to implement a new 8-point battery safety check to the S8 and all future devices.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is the first of what is effectively a new class of Android smartphones. Extra large display, excellent camera performance, large battery, cutting-edge design/materials, next-generation performance, and networks: these are the attributes of the Galaxy S8, and they all contribute to improving real problems such as user experience, battery life, and overall productivity.

It can also control Samsung devices such as the Samsung Connect Home, which is a Wi-Fi router and SmartThings hub.

The Galaxy S7 was one of our favourite smartphones of 2016 and after a spending some time with the new Galaxy S8 there's no reason to think it won't be mixing it with the likes of the LG G6, and Apple's new iPhone when it launches later in the year.

As far as first impressions go, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ definitely left quite a mark. The relentless leaks definitely poured some cold water on the hype, but seeing the real thing in person still left most of us at the global launch event thoroughly impressed.

Our initial impression of the Galaxy S8 is very positive indeed. Samsung has taken the best phone around and made it even better with an impressive screen and design. It ticks a shed load of boxes but check back for a full review soon when we have tested it properly.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is simply gorgeous. Gone is the S7's flat screen, and in its place is a tall, narrow drink of water with two curved sides. This is a phone that felt at home in my hands when I went hands-on with it for several hours at a journalist briefing in San Francisco. Better even than the LG G6, which has similar proportions but no curved screen, and sleeker than the iPhone 7 Plus, which puts a smaller screen on taller, wider body. For the first time, every major Samsung phone is an "Edge" model, with the Edge and Note's curve-screen software and all.

With all the bells and whistles of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, it’s only understandable that the phones will be quite expensive when it arrives in the Philippines. Prolific leaker Evan Blass posted expected European pricing for both phones a few days ago and it isn’t pretty. Even accounting the fact that European pricing will always be higher due to higher taxes, you can expect the Galaxy S8 to be priced near the 40K mark, while the Galaxy S8+ will certainly be in the low 40’s. That’s pricing approaching iPhone territory, though you will have to consider that both devices use large, hard-to-produce curved Super AMOLED panels. Still, that price though.
