The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7 Plus are two of the highest-quality Android tablets you can buy. There’s no question that these slates are appealing as far as the hardware is concerned. With excellent craftsmanship, the metal chassis and stunning displays are something to lust over. Performance is best-in-class, and battery life is absolutely stellar. The cameras leave a bit to be desired, but that’s par for the course on a tablet. Samsung’s own apps look and function great on the Tab S7 and S7 Plus, but the majority of Android apps fall a bit on their face.

In the end, whichever variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 you go for, you’re going to get an absolute belter of a tablet. The keyboard cover is nice (if you buy one), the tablet itself is lovely, DeX mode works well and the stylus is included in the box at no extra cost. Pair all that with the fastest Qualcomm processor to date, a slick 120Hz screen and the potential for 5G connectivity, and the Tab S7 Plus is a great tablet for everything from working on Word documents to watching Netflix. And the price, which is considerably less than the equivalent Apple iPad Pro, makes for an exceedingly tempting purchase.

Samsung has been on a roll of late. Not only have they announced some great new products - including the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Buds 2 - they have quietly dropped the price of their excellent Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus tablet. You can now get a whopping £220 off the S7 Plus Wi-Fi, which is the tablet's lowest-ever price on Amazon. The Tab S7 Plus got five stars in our review and earned a Best Buy award thanks to its laptop-like performance and many features which rivalled the iPad Pro, so if you're looking for an Android tablet that can compete with the very best, this is a great investment.

At RM4599, it is clear that the price matches the premium status and high quality of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+, and understandably so. Bear in mind, that price does not include the price of the detachable keyboard and kickstand cover. That said, the inclusion of the S Pen is a nice touch. On another note, switching between One UI and DeX does take some getting used to, but it isn’t a difficult curve. Yes, there are cheaper alternatives to this tablet from the same brand, but it goes without saying that as far as premium Android tablet go, you can’t go wrong with this one.

At first glance, the Galaxy Tab S7+ has it all: super-sleek and stunning design, 5G connectivity, a gorgeous and super-smooth 120Hz display, top-of-the-line processor, a functional S Pen with lower latency, and finally, an interface that has been tailored for enhanced productivity. With its optional keyboard case, humongous battery, and DeX mode, it is now closer than ever to being that mythical laptop replacement.

If you’re planning to use the Tab S7 as a daily workhorse, be prepared to charge it up often. I’m not sure if it’s the high-res, high-refresh display, the fact that I’m bouncing between at least six different apps all day long, or what, but I’ve been consistently able to kill the battery in less than four hours when I use the Tab S7 Plus as a laptop. Fortunately, there’s 45-watt fast charging support, because I have to plug it in about two times every day.

With a larger display, new S Pen, improved Type Cover keyboard and 5G support, the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus feels like a big upgrade over its predecessor.

As are my feeling on many tablets, I want the Tab S7+ to both be better and simpler at the same time. I often dream about using a tablet for my main work computer, but it’s not easy to relearn all the small quirks, gestures and techniques required to master one. Then even when you do, you’ll likely still encounter issues when you’re trying to perform simple tasks like creating GIFs or editing videos.

Android tablets don't get better than this. But do you really need all this power in such a form factor? And why isn't the screen Ultra-HD 4K for the best possible media experience? If all-powerful is on your lists of musts then you can't go wrong, but there are some lingering questions and sensible alternatives to ponder.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is a solidly built yet lightweight device with a gorgeous display which may gradually worm its way into the hearts of Creatives as their next indispensable art-tool of choice to wield.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus is an ambitious offering from Samsung, with a premium build and a fantastic screen that's unlike any tablet display we've seen before. However, the lack of developer support for apps on Android tablets takes a toll on what is othewise a top iPad competitor.

With that said, the incremental, practical upgrades on the Tab S7+ do refine the overall Android tablet experience. While it’s not a productivity whiz, tablets still have their purpose in the workplace if you’re creative enough with how it’s used. As an entertainment device and a second device to your smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ makes an excellent companion and an excellent Android tablet.

We hope to have more time with the S7+ so lookout for a full review in the coming months. If you have questions I can answer, please ask them in the comments below and I will do my best to answer. I really didn’t cover much here, my time was short and there’s so much more this thing can do.

There’s one point we always make when reviewing Samsung’s flagship tablets. The company should think about adopting an IP rating for these devices. Assured water resistance would put Samsung’s flagship tablets in a class of their own. It’s also something that would allow users to be a bit more carefree with them. We remain hopeful that Samsung will follow through on this one day.

Qualcomm Adreno 650:
