Análisis para el Vivo V40
Origen: Xataka

Vivo's V series has always been an intriguing line of devices. The V models tend to reside at the pricier end of the mid-range spectrum. While the focus has been shifting and shuffling over the years, V models have generally always focused on the camera and, particularly, the selfie camera experience. The V40 is no different. The camera setup is one of the clear highlights of this device, particularly the large 50MP autofocusing selfie. The V40 also has a gorgeous, bright, curvy AMOLED panel that stands out in the current predominantly flat-screened smartphone space. The phone also offers solid and very stable mid-range performance, thanks to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset and excellent cooling setup. But all of this can also be had with last year's V30.

Okay, let’s come to the conclusion guys. So, the Vivo V40 is a decent option for someone who’s not looking for the absolute beast for the price in terms of performance. Realme GT 6T is for that with Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. Besides that, the cameras are good here and the looks and feel of this phone are premium as well as the battery life is great. But I’d say, the pricing could have been more aggressive here, given the competition has another camera-centric contender, the Honor 200 with a 3X telephoto lens and overall good camera performance.

If the Vivo V40 is available in your area, then it makes a great choice, the only complication is whether to choose the V40 or the V40 Pro with 2x telephoto camera. Results are impressive, and the phone gives you a premium feeling product, with a significantly lower price. The Zeiss portrait effects are pleasing and a great reason, along with the selfie camera with AF, to choose the Vivo phone over other brands.

The vivo V series always had issues such as the lack of stereo loudspeakers and a lackluster chipset. But with the V40 5G, it has grown up and looks better than before. You still get all of the features we’ve come to love with the V series like Aura Light and nice cameras, packaged with a capable chipset and a long-lasting battery. Now, it even comes with Zeiss-tuned cameras. It still isn’t perfect, but for what it can do, it does it well. Best of all, with a starting price of PHP 26,999 for the 12+256GB variant, it’s quite affordable too. If you want more storage space, the 12+512GB variant retails for PHP 29,999. Is it worth upgrading too though? If you’re in the market for a new phone then yes, definitely. But if you picked up the V30 series earlier this year, specifically the V30 Pro 5G, then maybe hold on to that for now. Remember, this only comes with a dual rear camera vs the triple rear camera system on the V30 Pro. Maybe when the V40 Pro 5G is released you can consider it.

The vivo V40 5G comes in two variants. The 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model is priced at PHP26,999, while the 512GB variant retails for PHP29,999. Overall, the vivo V40 is a solid successor in the V series lineup. It offers a premium design, strong battery life, and an excellent camera system. While the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset remains unchanged from the V30, it still delivers more than enough performance for most users. So, would I recommend the vivo V40? That depends. While there are more affordable options with similar specs, if you’re a fan of the Aura Light Portrait system and prioritize camera quality, the vivo V40 is definitely worth considering.

Building on the things we like about the V30, vivo made a few quality of life upgrades to the V40–on top of ZEISS co-engineering with its camera features–to make it a competitive midrange phone in the Philippines for 2024.

I did the Vivo V40 review, and I got that this is one of the best camera phones in the mid-range. After using it as my full-time phone for almost 15 days, I have to say I really enjoyed it. Its battery life is even better now than Vivo V30’s, but it is still pretty solid. It has a nice, slick design. You know, it would have been nice to have a metal frame. I have a few little complaints about the camera design, but that’s okay. Overall, its finish is immaculate, and its display and back curve give the best in-hand feeling. Now, over to its camera performance, it’s absolutely astonishing and top-notch. I have no complaints about the camera at this price because I have used several medical range phones for review, but this camera quality is beyond that of others.

The vivo V40 is a well considered blend of hardware, combining an excellent set of ZEISS-tuned cameras, a vibrant AMOLED display as well as great battery life, making it a worthy choice for those seeking a camera-oriented midrange phone. In Malaysia, vivo is offering up to 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates which is a fair duration that further adds to its value. At RM1,999, our 256GB storage variant of the vivo V40 makes for a reasonably priced midrange phone, made more so with its excellent imaging capabilities. If you prize capturing great photography, you’ll love what the vivo V40 has to offer though if you get the opportunity, get the 512GB variant to allow for unfettered usage of the camera.

When you’ve reviewed as many mid-range phones as I have, it’s easy for their experiences to blend into one another. You experience a certain baseline of quality that not many of them deviate from. However, there are those phones that stand out above the rest. These are phones that excel in many, if not all, of the areas that define the smartphone experience. Those phones transcend the realm of mid-range phones and enter the Premium Mid-Ranger category. These are phones that are too good to be considered a mid-ranger but don’t quite pack the punch of a full-on flagship. This type of phone, because of its price, sits right above the Flagship Killer category. I feel that these phones sit in different categories.

Now comes the question of – should you buy the Vivo V40? The price in Malaysia is at RM1,999 and I think it’s an okay price for what it has to offer. The hardware and software are fine, but the mixture of intrusive ads interlace into so many parts of the UI really knocks the entire user experience down a few notches. If you can tolerate and avoid all those stuff like threading a string through a needle, then you should be fine.

The Vivo V40, with its ₹34,999 price tag, is ready to snap up the competition, especially if you’re a photography buff. Its Zeiss-tuned camera system is the real star of the show, capturing moments in sharp, vibrant detail. The phone also impresses with its sturdy build and IP68/IP69 ratings, making it as tough as it is stylish. The AMOLED display is bright enough to dazzle, and the overall performance is smooth, even if the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 isn’t exactly breaking new ground. The mid-range smartphone market is packed with contenders, all vying for the title of the best camera phone. The Vivo V40 emerges as one of the challengers, targeting photography enthusiasts with its Zeiss-tuned camera system.

The Vivo V40 is another impressive camera smartphone from Vivo’s V series. It delivers exceptional camera performance, capturing stunning shots day and night. Vivo has also added J optic support to the standard model, enhancing the camera’s capabilities by including a J lens and J natural mode, further elevating the overall camera performance. In addition to the camera improvements, Vivo has addressed previous concerns from the Vivo V30 by adding stereo speaker support and boosting performance despite using the same processor. The Vivo V40 has a 5000mAh battery in a slim design, offering exceptional battery life.

Vivo V40 brings along some notable improvements to the table over its predecessor but retains its predecessor’s SoC. This means that at a starting price of Rs 34,999, the phone is more expensive than the Realme GT 6T, which offers much more horsepower. Having said that, the V40 offers a good battery backup, an elegant and slim design, a bright vibrant display, and decent optics. While I think the general software lacks the kind of features its competition is offering, the camera software is top-notch. While this is a camera-centric phone, do keep in mind that the V40 struggles with capturing details in certain shots. If you can look past this, the V40 is definitely worth considering.

Vivo V40 and V40 Pro do improve a bit as compared to last year’s V30 series phones. Instead of relying on camera and design, Vivo has introduced a complete package with both models. Apart from minor changes and here, both phones can be a perfect deal in the premium mid-range phones. Yet, there are a few downsides Vivo often delays Android updates, the users will notice bloatware apps and annoying notifications. Apart from the software interface, both phones don’t look that bad deal, especially the Vivo V40. If you want additional performance for gaming, then the V40 Pro would be a great choice. But for standard usage, the V40 might be an ideal choice.

Reviewing the Vivo V40 5G, an update to the marvellous mid-ranger just six months later, with tweaked camera tech and boosted battery life. That performance hasn't been upgraded vs the Pro, but the Vivo V40 5G isn't a slouch. You can still get gaming on Zenless Zone Zero etc. In many ways, this phone is almost identical to the Pro model.

The Vivo V40 gets a good amount of things right, and on top of that list of things is the camera. If you are someone who's looking for a device that can not only shoot excellent photos but can also handle day-to-day tasks with ease alongside having an eye-catching design, the Vivo V40 is made for you. However, if you are looking for a performance-oriented handset, you’d be better off with the likes of Realme GT 6T or the OnePlus Nord 4 in this price segment.

In addition to that is the gorgeous curved AMOLED display with high brightness (4,500 nits), fast performance (Snapdragon 7 Gen 3), and super fast 80W charging. About its cameras, the vivo V40 shines out with its impressive 50 MP trio package coupled with Carl Zeiss optics, amazing image quality, and top-notch performance in the segment. Overall, the vivo V40 is a strong contender in its class and it is highly recommended if you have a budget over 30,000 to spend on a reliable smartphone.
