Análisis para el Xiaomi Redmi A4

Xiaomi has proved its point that it is possible to deliver a 5G smartphone under Rs. 9,000. However, the big condition here is 5G connectivity, because it only supports Jio's standalone network. If you are an Airtel subscriber, then you can forget about the phone's USP as it will only connect to 4G networks offered by the operator. A power user who runs numerous apps, multitasks, and demands a quality camera and exceptional battery life may not find the Redmi A4 5G exciting. The phone mainly caters to a first-time smartphone user who's needs are limited to calling and basic social media usage. Keeping this in mind, Xiaomi's Redmi A4 5G does things a bit differently by packing all the essentials into an attractive form factor. It seems like an attractive phone if you are on a tight budget and cannot spend over Rs. 9,000. Alternatively, Motorola also offers its Moto G35 5G (Review) at an additional Rs. 2,000, which offers better hardware and a bit more power.

With a starting price of Rs 8,499, the Redmi A4 5G delivers quite a lot of value for money. The phone comes with a tall display, a dependable processor, an impressive main camera, and a long battery life. The premium looks and IP52 rating are the cherries on top of this Redmi cake. The phone does face some competition from the likes of the Moto G35, which also boasts a very eye-catching design, but its Unisoc chip cannot match the one of the Redmi A4 5G, and its 50-megapixel camera is also not in the same class in terms of detail. Its lack of support for Airtel’s 5G at the time of writing is a bit of a bummer, but all said and done, the Redmi A4 is, quite frankly, one of the best devices you can get at its price. There finally is a Redmi phone that has managed to capture the true essence of what the Redmi Note used to be.

Absolutely. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly 5G phone that doesn’t feel cheap, the Redmi A4 5G is a no-brainer. Xiaomi has truly set a new benchmark for what an entry-level smartphone can deliver. The Redmi A4 5G is a solid performer that punches well above its weight. With its premium design, smooth display, reliable performance, and long-lasting battery, it’s hard to believe it costs less than Rs 10,000. Yes, it has its limitations — the front camera and HD+ display being the main ones — but those are little compromises compared to everything else the phone offers.

Unlike most 5G phones that have launched in recent years, the Redmi A4, powered by the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, only supports a standalone (SA) 5G network. This means the phone is only compatible with Jio’s 5G network and will not work on Airtel 5G based on non-standalone (NSA) technology. In fact, the upcoming 5G service by Vi is also NSA, and the Redmi A4 will not be compatible with that as well. Hence, the Redmi A4 is a Jio-only 5G smartphone in India. This limitation means the Redmi A4 is not a viable option for Airtel users or those looking to future-proof their device for broader 5G compatibility. However, for Jio customers seeking an affordable 5G smartphone, the Redmi A4 5G is an excellent choice that delivers solid performance and value.

Assisting the new chipset is a 5,160mAh battery. Given the smartphone's pricing, it is a bit surprising to find a 33W charger in the box. However, the Redmi A4 5G charges at 18W, so I am expecting faster charging speeds despite the slightly higher capacity over the Redmi A3. The few hours I have spent with the Redmi A4 5G have been enough to convince me that Xiaomi is out to stir up this much-ignored market segment. The segment as such has not been entirely ignored (there are still plenty of choices to pick from) but seems to be deprived of any innovation or sensible hardware choices over the past couple of years.
