While some of the earlier ZTE devices I looked at were aimed squarely at the budget market, the Axon steps up a notch and enters the market at the crowded mainstream. It's pretty easy to mistake the ZTE Axon for a flagship device.

Nicely done ZTE, can’t wait to see what you’re cooking up next.

It offers a sumptuous display, outstanding audio and a camera that lets you have a lot of fun with focus. However, a polarizing design, short battery life and some software annoyances hold it back. I also want better picture quality, especially given the dual-lens setup.

The newcomer presents a convincing package of well thought-out looks, superb build quality, high-end specs, and yet to be matched after sales support. The design of the smartphone impressed us with attention to detail that's not to be expected in the price range the Axon Pro inhabits. The same goes for the quality of the device's overall fit and finish.
