Gemelo técnico. La configuración del LG V10 nos recuerda mucho a la del G4. Los surcoreanos han equipado al dispositivo con una segunda pantalla y una lente frontal adicional. Descubre si el sobrecoste está justificado en este análisis.

LG is famous for its rich in functions UI and its absolutely brilliant manifestation in the V10 was not a surprise to us. Its great functionality is further supplemented by several pre-installed apps. The performance of the phone is also quite high because of the Snapdragon 808 which is quite powerful and does not heat excessively the construction, even after a long stress test. A drawback that can be mentioned is the not so acceptable battery performance, despite the capacity of 3000mAh. There are no remarks as far as cameras are concerned, and this applies not only for the rear 16MP one, but also to the two front-facing cameras allowing you to take group selfies. In addition you get some manual settings.

If you ever wanted to see the importance of good hardware design, you need to look no further than this comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and the LG V10. The two are diametrically opposed in terms of looks: it really is a story of the beauty and the beast, where the Galaxy S7 Edge, with its extremely elegant and solid build, fits well in the hand and is a joy to use, while the LG V10, with its rough materials and overly big dimensions, feels very crude and unfinished. This makes a big difference in daily use.

The LG V10 promised to deliver something different and it succeeded with its 2.1-inch sliver of a second screen at the top and two selfie cameras right next to it. Annoyingly timed notifications no longer get in the way as you try to focus on Google Maps or watch a YouTube video thanks to this always-on ticker display. It also acts as glanceable spot for time and date checks and frequently used app shortcuts.

A perfect time to strike then. The LG V10 brings fresh energy and starts a new family line. The V series stands for practicality, durability, and innovation. It's shock proof to a military standard. It's not waterproof like the Xperias, but it's a difference as small as the difference between 'every day' and 'vacation time.'

Moreover, it's awkwardly timed. Unless you bought the V10 right when it arrived in midfall, you're probably better off waiting to see if the G5 gives you some of the features (a fingerprint reader and manual video controls seem like shoo-ins) on top of CPU and camera upgrades.

If you are to embark on snowy adventures and you intend to use your smartphone as the designated camera - then any of these high-profile smartphones will do the job quite well. If you are pixel peeping, you may find few pros and cons on each, but at the end of the day, none of this will matter when sharing on social networks as they downsize the images anyway.

So there you have it for this in-depth look at the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 vs LG V10! As mentioned, for most users, the choice between the two will be easy, based primarily on design and build quality. The Galaxy Note 5 features the sleeker and more elegant design, the arguably better display, and those looking for productivity will love the S-Pen and all its capabilities. On the flip side, if durability is a concern, the LG V10 is the device for you, and features like expandable storage and a removable battery are big positives as well.

And all things considered, it’s one of the few smartphones left with a removable battery and a microSD card to support up to 2TB of expandable storage. Although the V10 is not quite the perfect ten, it’s still a pretty darn good phone and an admirable effort by LG to bring something new to this predictably boring clone phone market. Keep doing you, LG. Stay strange.

The story of the V10 is a basic LG smartphone — with a removable back cover and battery, microSD expansion and a ton of screen acreage, it’s a great canvas to expand upon — and instead of adding on curves and leather, it’s replaced with armor, a toolbelt and more control. Style’s been put away for silicon. UI software tweaks have been passed up for camera software tweaks. And there’s obviously one extra camera on the V10 that isn’t on the G4. This phone has been underrated and downplayed since when we first heard of it, mostly because we’ve considered it to be a niche phone.

In the past, Android manufacturers would include strange gimmicks to set their phones apart. We look back at those times with rose-colored glasses, but it’s never as good as we remember. All of those weird gimmicks were there to hide flaws and make phones seem more exciting. The V10 is good enough that it doesn’t need any gimmicks. There are a lot of reasons why someone should buy this phone, and the Second Screen is not one of them. Buy this phone for the great camera. Buy it for the big display. Buy it for the battery life. Buy it because you like textured things that feel good in your hand. The Second Screen is like the toy that comes in a Happy Meal. You’re glad you got it, but the main event is the cheeseburger and fries.

This is one of those extremely oversized phones, but it comes in an attractive package, has a beautiful display, top of the line specs in all areas, and performs well. It has a capable camera, handful of actually useful software and hardware add-ons, and can be purchased at most of the major carriers. I really don’t think you can go wrong here.

LG's swanky V10 is so chock-full of features, it's hard to know where to start. This Android handset packs a novel second screen and dual front cameras, as well as a fingerprint sensor on its back and advanced manual mode for video recording. All this comes wrapped up in a handsome, hardy frame that can resist drops; it sells for $600 (full price at T-Mobile, $700 at Verizon and AT&T). It may not be the fastest phone on the block, but the LG V10 doesn't disappoint.

The LG V10 is an attractive, durable phone with great specs (save for the chipset), it comes with useful feature you can't find anywhere else and LG didn't overprice the phone (like Sony and HTC often do). We feel that the company will move many units, though some murmurs from South Korea suggest the market's reaction is different. Regardless, LG made a great phone and deserves a win.

There are undeniable benefits in having a specs sheet as lengthy as the household chores list your partner unexpectedly hands you on a Saturday morning, but the question we should always keep asking is this: are all of these features integrated wisely, or are they confusing, compromising the experience? Furthermore, do they work as advertised? To these questions, the answer is rarely a firm yes with the V10. There are certain areas where it excels, such as performance and still image quality, but it tends to falter in others, like display quality, video recording, and general user experience seamlessness: the unstable camera app, inaccurate auto-brightness function and inefficient app design are just some of the issues we encountered.

There’s no contest: the LG V20 is the most feature-packed smartphone of the year. It’s a phablet that mostly nails the basics and adds on a ton of niche features, some of which you might not use all that much.

The V20 is still one of the best phones you can get today. It has great build quality, a great camera, good battery life, and the best audio experience on the market. It might not stand up to some 2017 flagships, but if you can find it for the right price, it's a good choice.

Finally the question comes whether you should buy LG V20 or not? And the answer is yes. The smartphone is among the best smartphones available in market right now. It offers you great performance, log battery life, amazing camera and excellent sound recording capability which makes it a perfect package. Second display is not so useful, still it doesn’t affect the battery life that much and is a great option to have. There are some minor issues with the smartphone that can be rectified with software updates. As I also received one while reviewing it.

The V20 is a loaded smartphone, no doubt. But in my opinion LG is late, especially in India. Yes, there are features that catch your attention, but it misses out on being one of the best smartphones of 2016 by a whisker. At Rs 55,000 (best buy price) it is a bit of an expensive deal too. For a bit more you can get the Google Pixel which is the best Android smartphone today. Or you could also go for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge which is relatively economical but an excellent performer.

LG has tried its best to bring an all rounder smartphone that has a decent display, good processing power, impressive camera, amazing audio recording/playback and an average battery life. But somehow it didn't give us the essence of a flagship or a premium product. For audiophiles, this is the only go-to smartphone right now. However, if you want a handset with good processor, go for OnePlus 3T. For cameras and cleaner Android UI one can check out the Google Pixel smartphones. For the battery, smartphone like Zenfone 3 Max seems a good choice.

Despite being impressively built and amazingly stacked with premium hardware, LG V20 is overpriced. It should have been selling for under Rs 50,000. LG right now needs to take on the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung Note 5 or the iPhone 6S Plus to sell the V20 in good numbers. With a high-price the V20 may not fare well in in the market because it has to compete with likes of Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S7, which are great smartphones.

As you've probably realized by now, I've been super happy with the V20. In fact, it's hard to find anything meaningfully wrong with it. If I had to criticize something, it would be the boring design - in comparison with some of the more exciting-looking handsets out there - and the display, which is good, but not great. Recently, I actually booted up my HTC 10 and was reminded of just how beautiful an LCD can look.

Despite generally good white balance, some colorcast irregularities are also noticeable, particularly while subject tracking or during lighting changes, when adaptation can be slow and inconsistent. Color shading is also visible in some videos, with a slight bluish cast when shooting under fluorescent light sources. Video stabilization effectively reduces camera shake for walking movement, but subject motion blur is very visible, as well as a noticeable judder while panning. Some aliasing is also visible in videos, and there’s a noticeable inconsistency in sharpness across the field. Video autofocus is generally accurate, but convergence can be slow when transitioning from macro to infinity, with slight oscillations evident. We observed some video focus irregularities, too, including unstable refocusing as the lighting changes and during tracking, where focus sometimes drops.

It's clear LG is aiming at creative types and those who need their phone to do something more specialised than just make calls, play games and browse the internet and social media — and in the process it provides many features other phones don't have — but unless any of its efforts specifically appeal to you it might be a hard sell.

LG’s V20 it is a bit of a jack of all trades. It’s trying to be a lot of things, and in most cases, it succeeds – just without much finesse. While some phones have one standout feature as their calling card, this one offers not only dual cameras but also the second screen, impact-resistant body, and Android 7.0. High-quality sound recording might not be a much-sought-after feature but it’s a very handy bonus. We think that LG could have done a bit better in the styling department, and its software could use a lot more polish.

They always come out with something quirky on their phones: like the G5 – one of the first phones to embrace the modular concept. But LG seems to have grown up with the V20 keeping it simple and classy. The dual camera and dual screen are the stand outs on this beauty. Though saying that, I do find the dual screen a bit unnecessary. It doesn’t serve any discernible purpose other than showing the time while your phone is locked.

The LG V20 is without a doubt one of the best offerings on the market when it comes to focus on the camera and multimedia department. The dual camera setup at the rear, dual FoV front camera, extensive manual controls for video/photo and brilliant audio output are all very unique and something that very few smartphones can boast of. We’re still waiting on firm pricing from LG, however, if we look at what AT&T's typical monthly plans weigh out to, we're looking at an unlocked price of around $829, which is very pricey. Once again, LG is carefully carving a niche where the LG V20 can sit at the top (large display, sturdy, removable battery). The LG V20 is built to be drop-resistant, has a unique camera experience thanks to 1/ its wide-angle real and front cameras and 2/ its exclusive access to Qualcomm’s digital image stabilization for videos. The V20 could also be enticing for users who are currently willing to carry a secondary Hi-Fi audio device. Finally, it is one of the few desirable phones that have a large, removable battery which is hidden behind a very sturdy metal back cover. The LG V20 is truly a multimedia beast.

The V20 offers Steady Record 2.0 system for its video capturing in addition to the optical stabilization - the phone is the first to offer Qualcomm's proprietary (EIS) video stabilization based on gyroscopes. And it also offers image stream analysis (DIS) for tracking a moving object and stabilizing the video by the object's line of movement. It is also capable of minimizing the objects' distortion, which is a problem with the wide angle snappers.

Bright prospects. With the LG V30, the Koreans now show a real high-end smartphone, which offers strong video features and an improved dual camera. LG has taken the complaints about the G6 for the German market to heart and also offers the device with wireless charging and quad-DAC audio here as well.

The V30 is a very capable for still photos with good (if not exceptional) exposures and color in all lighting conditions. With texture and noise results in low light that outperform some of the top-ranked devices we’ve tested, the LG earns itself a high Photo score of 87 points, despite lacking optical tele-zoom and bokeh features. The overall ranking is negatively impacted by a lower video score, but overall, the V30 is a great smartphone for landscapes, architecture, and other photo genres that focus on largely static scenes. It is also important to keep in mind that while the V30’s secondary wide-angle lens does not have an impact on the scores in our test protocol, it is a differentiator in a crowded market and a potentially useful creative tool for many users.

After more prolonged testing, I'm not quite as enamored -- thanks mostly to its questionable screen. Still, I'm impressed with what LG has managed to accomplish. The V30's design and build quality are first rate, performance is up to snuff for a flagship, and I'm in love with the way this thing sounds. The V30 arrives half a year after the G6 and, at first blush, appears to rectify everything that ailed LG’s devices of the past. But LG rushed to put an imperfect OLED screen in its flagship phone, preferring to have the highlight spec over the superior user experience, and I can’t condone either the choice or the eventual product. This is a phone that has given me goosebumps with the astonishing quality of its headphone audio, and if I was reviewing it on the strength of music playback alone, I would say it’s one of the best media players on the market. But this is supposed to be a smartphone. And as a smartphone, the LG V30 fails to validate its high price and flagship status.

Faithful Android users won't like the liberties LG has taken with Google's dependable OS. And of course, there's the short battery life, which remains an issue on our test unit. But ultimately, the V30 does enough to differentiate itself in the crowded arena of flagship smartphones, and that makes it worth your attention.

The laundry list of positives on the V30 are absolutely staggering to say the least, and the V30 offers more bang for your buck in more areas than most smartphones can claim. It’s not the cheapest phone available, but it’s also not the most expensive flagship out there either, all while not sacrificing any of the important parts that we expect from a 2017 flagship phone. Near zero bezels, killer performance, a screen that’s more capable than others, incredible high quality audio output and a camera that’s worthy of the title “The Content Creator’s Phone” are what make up the V30, and there’s so much more than that too. It’s not just one of the greatest smartphones ever made, it’s also the ultimate creativity tool.

While other smartphones have hit the market such Samsung’s latest and even from Apple with another release on the horizon there are those waiting for the V30 from LG. This will be LG’s 2nd release this year with the LG G6 coming out in the early Spring. The LG V30 can be considered a media powerhouse with its dedication towards video and camera capabilities. They also have an earful for the audio enthusiasts out there that crave better sound from their smartphones. Here are some reasons you might want to grab a LG V30.

LG’s new handset is equipped with Google Assistant, but with some unique capabilities specific to the V30. You can "Okay, Google" a range of V30-only selfie and video options, plus commands for getting the phone talking to LG’s connected home tech. The V30’s advanced signal processing will hear commands even if the phone’s blasting music.

On first impressions the LG V30 acquits itself well. Some questioned LG's early jump with the LG G6, choosing to launch at MWC 2017 in February with older hardware, but that only makes the LG V30 feel like the flagship LG phone that we really wanted. It surpasses the G6 in a number of ways, making this a big flagship with stacks of appeal.

The LG V30 may seem like a conservative flagship, but it gets an awful lot right. There's undeniably a whiff of Samsung about the phone's design — nevertheless, the V30 continues the no-nonsense trend of the G6, with better build quality than ever. The display, despite some low-light issues, is a step beyond any previous LG phone in terms of quality and daylight legibility. The size is near perfect for me, providing an expansive display in a more ergonomic handset than Samsung can currently offer. And the camera builds on everything I loved about the G6, with better low-light performance, superior processing and new video tricks that I might not use all that often, but which are nice to have all the same.

The LG V30 could have easily been a G6s or something - it's that close to an incremental upgrade to the G6 and that far away from the original V-series concept. But hey, it's LG regrouping at its best and the V30 has turned out so remarkably well. It's got the most important boxes checked (one of them double-checked in a unique way) and we can see people running to the stores. Maybe come Christmas though, if the launch price sounds steep.

When LG took the wraps off of the LG V30 at IFA last week, it spent nearly 20 minutes of its 50-minute presentation talking about the phone's dual-camera system. Juno Cho, president of mobile communications, rattled off statistics like "almost 80 percent of smartphone users use their smartphone at least once a week to shoot videos." He also said that "we are literally on the verge of transitioning from storytelling to story-showing," which is almost as crazy as Samsung's new catchphrase: "Your New Normal." I digress.

If LG does bring in the V30 into Malaysia within this year – at the very least – and price it right, I reckon it will give other flagship smartphones in our market a good run for their money. The LG V30 has a lot of great things going for it, and it’s going to be available on all of the carriers in the US, so everyone will be able to pick one up. LG has essentially taken all of the good from the G6 and made it even better with the V30. It’s pretty tough to find something to dislike about the LG V30 here, but there will likely be some other things that we’ll find when we do start the review.

The LG V30 sets itself apart two ways: with its ultra-wide, fish-eye lens, and with (likely) support for T-Mobile's new wide-area network. Otherwise, it's pretty similar to a Galaxy S8+ with a better-placed fingerprint sensor, at least at first glance. The phone will be available this fall on all the major US carriers, and we're also expecting an unlocked version will come out at some point, although details on dates and pricing aren't yet available. I'm looking forward to putting the phone through its paces for a full review—maybe with a road trip to one of those new T-Mobile cities—so check back to see what I find.

Over the last couple of years, the LG G series has been focused on the general consumer, much like the Samsung Galaxy S models. The LG V series always offered a bit more than the G series, similar to Samsung's Note line, with an emphasis on high-end video creation, high-fidelity audio, and dual camera experiences. We have seen the G series start to incorporate some of these features, but the V series still stands out as the high end model.

R.I.P LG’s G6. Seriously, what does anyone need it for at this point? The V30 is a more stylish device that improves on every aspect of the G6 and V20, and in doing so it has become a more mainstream hybrid of the two. Gone is the secondary display of the V20, replaced with a functional software version, and improved is the wide-angle camera, which now captures very little distortion. Throw in a Snapdragon 835 with 4 gigs of RAM, LG’s potent and smooth UI, a gorgeous infinity display, and sprinkle some extra camera and video goodies on top, and you have the makings for a flagship device, which stands on its own.

The LG V30 comes with a single USB Type-C port (no word if it is USB 2.0 or USB 3.0), and the power button is now part of the rear fingerprint sensor. Moving the power button from the side confused me for a strong minute, as the only other buttons on the device were the volume buttons on the left. The fingerprint sensor being on the rear is more suitable than one off to the side, and personally I'm not used to fingerprint buttons on the front. But in anecdotal testing the sensor recognition is a shade slower than my Mate 9, but not noticeably so unless you are concentrating hard.

The V30’s powerhouse specs and features — like a f/1.6 aperture rear shooter and stackable biometric security — are inarguably industry leading. In comparison with Samsung’s redemption Note 8, which seemed to play it relatively safe this year, the V30’s distinguishing elements offer a more enticing overall package. It even looks and feels sleeker.

The LG V30+ fits in well to the super-premium smartphone market and only photography enthusiasts will not be happy with it. However, the price hike to reach this market tier is exponential and tends to be inversely-proportional to value. The LG-manufactured Google Pixel 2 can be had for almost $200 less while a lower-specified Samsung Galaxy S9 can be had for the same price. However, the real issue is that LG’s older G6 offers similar functionality and a better camera for one-quarter of the price nowadays (albeit in a less-refined package). So, with the LG V30+, you’re paying much more for form than function and, at this price, it should be perfect.

The LG V30+ is an excellent device that has a premium build, loads of power, a different take on cameras, and is an audiophile’s dream that merits a look if you’re in the market for a flagship phone. The problem is that the delayed release in the Philippines may hurt it from getting stellar sales given the new devices bound to be released next month at MWC 2018, plus the competition it’s facing with the current crop of top-end devices.

Overall, it's clear that LG has managed to improve by leaps and bounds this year, first with the G6 and now with the V30+. It looks phenomenally good and will appeal to people who love having a lot of features to play around with. Of course, there are still rough edges to be worked on, mostly in terms of the user experience. There's no point in having a beautiful phone with an immersive display if that screen itself is flawed. Similarly, having dozens of camera modes and tool should be secondary to the actual output quality. This is exactly the kind of device that looks dazzling at first glance and has an impressive spec sheet, but really needs some time spent with it to uncover its true nature.

Don’t get me wrong. The LG V30+ is a good device. Again, the sound is out of this world. Actually, I’d put my head on a chopping block and say it is the best audio of any smartphone I’ve used. The battery power is strong and the phone does what it needs to do. But with a price tag of R15 000 it needs to do more. For me, it doesn’t. I really think this phone is better suited to a funky advertising agency exec who wants to watch Netflix on business flights to Nigeria and whip out his stylus to take notes during meetings. That lady – she’d dig this. It would be the perfect phone for her and the price would be justified. Because the V30+ is a phablet and offers everything she needs. But it is being pushed as a creator’s phone and this creator just doesn’t think it stacks up.

Last year’s LG V30 was a surprisingly strong device from a company that has trouble selling smartphones. Rather than just wait to launch a new G-series flagship, though, LG decided to build this — the V30S ThinQ. Here’s the rub: the hardware differences are nearly negligible, and the AI image recognition features that define the V30S ThinQ are being made available to the original V30 as well. Ultimately, there’s nothing outright wrong with the V30S ThinQ; it’s just wholly unnecessary.

With scores on par with the Galaxy Note 8, which came out in 2017, the LG V40 ThinQ marks a significant improvement over the G7 in most areas. Although it cannot yet compete with recent high-end models, the addition of its first-ever zoom shows that it’s clearly on an upward track. We are looking forward to seeing further improvements in the recently-released LG G8, which we plan to test in the very near future.

LG has always made good looking phones and the V40 ThinQ is no exception. It follows the design trend that most smartphones have these days. The metal frame has a matte finish and the glass back gives it a premium look and feel. The volume rockers are placed on the left whereas the SIM tray and power button can be found on the right hand side. LG is one of the few companies that still gives a headphone jack in the premium devices. The jack alongside the Type-C port can be located at the bottom of the device. What’s also at the bottom is the LG Boombox speaker which is excellent but more on that later. While it is a slick looking device, it does have a tendency to slip off a bit too easily for our liking. At the rear, one will find three cameras that fit in neatly and don’t take too much real estate.

LG V40 ThinQ has a look and feel of a premium smartphone but the price is a bit steep. The major issues with the device are the heating problem, inconsistency in low light photography and an older version of the Google Android which lags behind the competition. As far as the positives are concerned V40 ThinQ handles multitasking effectively, and overall cameras do a good job especially shot taken in good lighting conditions and videography. Even the battery life will not disappoint you.

The LG V40 ThinQ isn't for everyone. It has a plethora of features all tuned for the mobile cinematographer. But it's camera is also the weakest link. While the LG V40's five-camera setup offers the versatality a vlogger might demand, it doesn't really match up to the expectations set by the phone's marketing. But if you're not a vlogger or deal with videos for a living, the LG V40 ThinQ can still be yours for everything else it offers — HiFi audio, qHD HDR display and a sturdy build with water resistance and everything. It's a power user's flagship through and through, but certain caveats like a camera that tends to overprocess photos, poor gaming performance and a confusing UI might put off the mainstream users. To know more about how the LG V40 ThinQ fares, read the full review below.

Priced at Rs 49,990, the LG V40 ThinQ is primarily a multimedia-centric premium smartphone. Except for a weak on-battery time and thermal issues, there is nothing that the phone lacks. It has a vivid OLED screen with several colour profiles to choose from, a capable camera module on the front and back, premium audio output via wired headsets and a top-notch performance. If you are looking for a premium smartphone other than the OnePlus 6T or Honor View 20, then the LG V40 ThinQ could be an option worth considering.

We’re ending the year with a few reviews of the last smartphones to be released. The LG V40 ThinQ first came to our senses in the form of an official press invitation. Triple cameras were said to be coming together with a display notch. An earlier design also showed the Android phone with five cameras (three rear + dual selfie shooters). The phone was unveiled officially back in October and we immediately noted the device’s Cine Shot feature makes cinemagraphs easy.

Much like each previously-released LG V-family smartphone, this unit’s gonna have a life well beyond your average phone, not least of all because of its built-in DAC for high quality audio and its multiple camera options and decent photo and video quality. I recommend that as SOON as you purchase this smartphone, you get a protective case of some sort to keep this phone in mint condition. The industrial design of the machine will remain beautiful for years to come.

My biggest complaint is the $949 MSRP. Many new flagships have prices near or above $1,000 these days, however, so the V40 ThinQ is not alone here. It would be nice if consumers didn't have to experience such big price hikes. With that said, there are many deals to be had on this smartphone lately, so you can get it for hundreds of dollars less if you look around. If you need a new Android smartphone, I urge you to give the V40 ThinQ a look -- you will be pleasantly surprised. The V Series is still top-notch.

That’s not to say everyone should run out and buy one of these, especially at LG’s MSRP. While it’s normally dangerously close to the Galaxy Note 9 and kind of holds its own, at a discount I think it’s an excellent choice for anyone that’s primarily into media consumption on their phone. There’s enough extra polish with some of the software and hardware features to keep this phone at the top of the dog pile, flaws and all, and as a media enthusiast, this might just be one of the most fun phones I’ve used all year.

Of course, the big downside is the price. Like so many smartphones these days, the price is going up, and the V40 ThinQ will set you back $949.99. Companies like Apple and Samsung are charging even more than that for a new phone, although this still has to compete with companies like OnePlus, which is selling its new 6T for $549. Still, if you're going for premium and you're going to spend that much, the LG V40 ThinQ is a great choice.

LG like other flagships does two major releases every year. First off was the all-around consumer directed LG G7 at the start of the summer and now the ones heavy tech aficionado eye every year in the V series. So while the V40 is LG's best phone in a while, you'll probably want to hold off until the price drops to a more reasonable $750 or $800, at least until the rest of the October handsets arrive, and the holiday discounts soon afterward. LG fans who do decide to pre-order one won't be disappointed, but they'll be much happier if they wait for a better deal.

The LG V40 ThinQ has a sharp 6.4-inch OLED screen, impressive audio capabilities, and a total of five cameras that allow it to take simultaneous multi-angle shots and stitch together GIFs.

The LG V40 puts photography first with five cameras on a single Android phone, and that gives you varying shot perspectives, whether you’re taking a wide group selfie or rear-facing telephoto masterpiece. You’ll love seeing the camera modes and various tricks play out on the beautiful 6.4-inch OLED screen, though competing handsets take cleaner pictures, have longer battery life and, in many cases, are cheaper.

Overall, the V40 is an excellent phone, and probably the best one LG has ever made. It won’t appeal to everyone — you have to be a fan of big phones, for starters, and software purists will still be happier with a Pixel — but in a world where smartphones are becoming increasingly similar, the V40 differentiates itself with its unique camera system.

LG seems to have its heart in the right place with the LG V40 ThinQ, but even the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry. Three capable cameras with lenses designed to capture three of the most fun and useful perspectives (wide-angle, regular, and 2X zoom) sounds like a dream, and in many respects, it is – we love the versatility. What we, and most consumers spending nearly $1000 on a phone might appreciate more, though, is a regular camera that is always up to the task, and unfortunately, we can’t say that about the V40 ThinQ.

The LG V40 is an excellent large-display smartphone that can compete very well at the high-end. It shares the same Snapdragon 845 processor that is still the best for Android today.

LG struck a nice balance with the V40 ThinQ. Looking back through the benchmarks and battery life numbers, the LG V40 ThinQ doesn't quite lead the pack in any particular category, but it is right in the mix with some of the most powerful, flagship Android devices currently on the market. Couple its competitive vitals with a relatively clean, minimally-skinned OS installation, flexible camera setup -- both for world-facing shots and for selfies -- good looks, its high quality OLED display, and surprisingly good audio for smartphone, and you've got an attractive product on your hands.

But to wrap this up - it's three separate standalone cameras covering a focal length 'range' of 16mm to 50mm - with all those lenses on its back, LG needs to have messed up all the other stuff for the V40 ThinQ not to be a winner. After all, there can't be too many cameras on a smartphone, and no other has more yet.

While this phone has a great display, cameras, and solid performance, I can’t see myself going out of my way to recommend it until we see everything else that is coming this month. We’re expecting Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, OnePlus 6T, Razer Phone 2, and probably more in the coming weeks. With so much on the radar, it’s hard to tell anyone that ordering this device immediately is the best thing to do. At the end of October and we know the solidified device lineups for this holiday shopping season, then you can start the buying process on whatever you like best. If you do end up with V40 ThinQ, I think you’ll like it. I know I’ve personally enjoyed the Stuff & Things life quite a bit this past week.

The LG V50 ThinQ 5G may have landed in SA a little later than expected, but it is still very well specced, is not excessively priced, and crucially supports the new broadband standard. For savvy Android users, it is definitely worth enquiring about.

The LG V50 ThinQ may not have an inspiring exterior, but its performance is solid. It’s a well-made piece of hardware that covers all the bases a flagship should. I wish battery life in 5G zones were a tad better, and I wish the camera offered a little more pop. Other than these small blemishes, the phone does really, really well. If you’re a Sprint customer in a 5G market (or not a 5G market), there’s no excuse to not buy this phone.

Well, only one phone can offer the same Dual Screen experience - the LG 8X - better at that. But that's to be expected, as it came after the V50. So, as far as uniqueness goes, the V50 is a rare occasion among its flagship peers, in a good way.

All-in-all, the LG V50 ThinQ is a pretty great phone, particularly if you're in a place that supports 5G. While it launched as a Sprint exclusive, it's available on Verizon now as well. But if you still can't get 5G, as most people can't, this is still a good phone, although I don't know if it's good enough to justify the $999 price tag.

With that said, I like that LG continued on with making the V-series devices a bit different from the norm. A “second’ screen isn’t really anything new for it, just that now, it’s an actual usable second screen. For sure the LG G8X will be a bit better than this and if that the case, it’ll be worth it for those who want a second screen, but don’t want to commit the cash and want the versatility of a modular system.

Then there’s the Dual Screen. This is, to be blunt, a gimmick for most people, and a fairly silly one at that - which might explain why it isn't even available in the US. But it’s also a surprisingly novel way to bring the foldable experience to a much lower price point, and if you're a devoted multi-tasker then it actually works better than you might expect, if you can forgive a few niggling design flaws.

LG’s first 5G handset tells a familiar story but it’s more of an obnoxious big-budget remake than a cult-classic. It's less Suspiria and closer to the recent live action take on Dumbo. When it comes to the price, this thing sits towards the top of the smartphone totem pole but the gulf between LG and the other brands playing in that range feels like it has never been larger. Look - I don't know if this is the worst phone I've reviewed this year but it's certainly a contender and miles from the point where I'd readily recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to burn money and make things more difficult for themselves. At the price it currently commands, it just doesn't make sense to buy this phone. True to the form of the brand involved, the LG V50 ThinQ 5G is far from my favorite handset of 2019. It's technically competent on some fronts but that's about the only nice thing I can think to say about this walking disaster of a flagship smartphone.

With the V50 ThinQ, LG is one of the first phone makers to offer a 5G-ready device in the U.S., trailing Samsung by just a few weeks. The V50 might not be an eye-catching or even entirely new device in the same vein as the Galaxy S10 5G, but that might not matter much to LG, so long as the V50 delivers fast, reliable performance in cities where 5G is available. In my experience using the V50 on Sprint's 5G network, the phone definitely saw faster speeds, but not nearly as fast as the S10 5G on Verizon's network.

The V50 ThinQ is basically just a 5G V40 with a processor upgrade. That means both good and bad: faster internet speeds and new features, balanced out by a thicker body and likely reduced battery life. Given the LG V60 ThinQ 5G’s flagship ambitions, our camera test results are slightly underwhelming. The LG is capable of recording pleasant images in most situations, but its zoom performance is held back by the lack of a dedicated tele-lens, and top-tier rivals offer a better-tuned texture/noise balance. The LG’s video performance is very similar to that for stills, in that it delivers very acceptable results without rivaling the best in class.

While the LG V60 ThinQ 5G put in a mid-pack performance compared to all the phones whose audio we have tested, it is below its peers for both Playback and Recording. The LG V60 ThinQ has not got an official UK release, so getting hold of one is a little tricky. Still, if one is available in your region, then it can prove cheaper than the Galaxy S20 Ultra, especially in the States where the price is $950. For that, you get a good phone with a fun Dual Screen add-on, 5G, performance that mostly matches the competition and a strong camera. The V60 ThinQ sports flagship specs like a 5,000mAh battery, a Snapdragon 865 chipset and two screens. After using both the G8X ThinQ and now the V60 ThinQ, I’ve grown to really like the secondary screen, and though it’s not a true foldable display, the phone offers a lot in the way of multi-tasking. The V60 ThinQ costs $1,100, which as of right now in Canada, is a pretty average price for a flagship handset. To put the price in perspective, S20 costs $1,319, the OnePlus 8 costs $1,099 and the Mate 30 Pro costs $1,399. It’s hard to say whether the V60 ThinQ is worth it, but the phone is available at carriers across Canada. If you’re looking for a phone with a solid battery, speedy performance and two screens, the V60 ThinQ is the choice pick.

It should say everything about the V60 being a jack-of-all-trades that I’m ending on stylus support. This phone gives you a ton for $800 — even if you go without the Dual Screen. It’s a blazing performer, battery life might be the best for any phone in 2020 so far, and it’s got terrific headphone audio. But I really wish LG had done more with the giant display. I can put up with the bezels just fine, but high-refresh screens are already becoming table stakes at this price in the Android world. If I’m sacrificing comfort and ergonomics, the display had better be incredible. And I’m willing to pay a couple extra hundred bucks for it.

By itself, the V60 ThinQ is a fascinating exercise in compromise. To get its price under $1,000 (the current standard for a flagship), LG went with a lower-resolution screen, fewer rear cameras and less RAM than it rivals. That sounds like a great way to build a mediocre smartphone, but these compromises are easy to live with. Chances are you’ll wind up with a free dual-screen case too. Calling this thing polished would be a stretch, but if you’re willing to put in the work, it can be a very useful add-on. All told, the V60 offers solid performance, plus some of the best battery life we’ve seen so far this year, all for less money than competing devices. It’s still a little rough around the edges, but it’s nothing if not a good deal.

LG's past few flagships have been shy of perfect, but the LG V60 ThinQ is one you should absolutely consider. Here are a few reasons why.

The LG V60 ThinQ 5G is a solid all-around alternative to Samsung's Galaxy S20 Plus and S20 Ultra, with better battery life. But the Dual Screen attachment, is wonky and the cameras disappoint.

The LG V60 is perhaps the best V series phone to reach the market in years. This too-huge phone has unbeatable battery life, a refreshed design, a flexible camera arrangement, and a headphone jack. Despite these strengths, competing phones best it in camera quality, display quality, and software experience. The V60's ace up the sleeve is its price, which is hundreds less than the competition.

The LG V60 ThinQ is a flagship phone that offers a lot -- so much, in fact, that a two-screen experience might come at a better value that you'd expect. JV goes through some main points in his review.

Available within the US from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, the LG V60 ThinQ 5G is a premium telephone poised to compete towards the Galaxy S20. Though it is a lofty opponent to tackle, the LG V60 has a few issues that make it stand out. One is low tech (a headphone jack) and the opposite is extra superior: A particular Dual Screen case that doubles the dimensions of its show. Though the accent is sweet to have and has a handful of helpful tips, it is positively not a necessity.

Lastly, 5G coverage is rolling out nationwide throughout the year and the V60 is a 5G phone. During my time with an AT&T review unit, the 5G indicator was on the whole time and AT&T does have 5G coverage in the Bay Area. However, when I ran speed tests on Ookla, the phone was only able to connect to the carrier's LTE network. Download and upload speeds were about on par with a 4G LTE phone on AT&T (the V60's average 194Mbps for download speeds and 36Mbps for upload speeds). As of this report, AT&T is looking into this, so given all the variables involved -- different networks, location and coverage -- your experience will differ from mine.

So, do I recommend the LG V60? Only if you are willing to live with some compromises, and only if you buy the second screen accessory. With this phone, you don't get an optical zoom, audio recording is poor, and 5G on T-Mobile is very disappointing. But that second screen... that second screen is magic, causing all of my grievances to melt away. My productivity is enhanced exponentially by having two apps opened side by side. It even works wonders for gaming. Without the second screen, however, there are better options out there.

The LG V60 is the most refined flagship we've seen from LG, and with its free Dual Screen peripheral/case, 5G connectivity, and good specs, the phone stands out from its rivals. But its extra display space is clunkier in execution than foldables out there, leaving it more appealing to niche consumers. Still, as one of the more affordable 5G phones out there, the LG V60 has appeal for the average consumer, even if it doesn't outperform other flagships.

To sum things up, the V60 ThinQ offers a solid value for the price, strong performance and great battery life. Unfortunately, LG needs to do better to differentiate its flagship devices from competing products that, while more expensive, also offer more capabilities and higher-end features.

I’m trying to be positive, but I can’t think of a single time I’d recommend this phone. Maybe if you need some manual camera controls and you absolutely have to have the best audio on a smartphone, but besides that, this phone feels so lacking and uninspiring that I assume it will fade into oblivion like all of LG’s other phones from the past 3-4 years.

Upon first glance, the LG V60 ThinQ looks too plain and too dated. It’s got a notch, it’s missing a telephoto lens, and it has a display that could very well be from last year. But beyond the surface, the V60 boasts a Snapdragon 865, a strong camera setup, top-notch battery life, 5G, and great audio—all for $200 less than the Galaxy S20. It's not an exciting phone, but it's a really good phone and an even better value.

The LG V60 ThinQ 5G starts at $799, or $899 if you want the bundled Dual Screen. That really makes it a fantastic deal. And make no mistake, this is a great device. The hardware is gorgeous and feels lovely in hand, but it is a very large phone. It is rated for IP68 and MIL-STD 810G and comes with a two-year hardware warranty so LG is confident in its ability to hold up well over time. I love the Google Assistant button and the overall design of the phone with hands that are large enough to hold and use it comfortably.

And there you have it. Those are the biggest changes I noticed just from playing with the device for a bit but I’m sure there’s even more changes as I dive deeper into it in the coming days. There will definitely be more to come as I believe this could be a sleeper hit of 2020. LG phones in my opinion have been really good, just overlooked by the general public. Hopefully all that changes with the new LG V60 ThinQ 5G and its Dual Screen Case, especially with prices starting at $799.99 to $899.99.

But is it enough to persuade potential buyers? As always, the answer is no. The V60 still has the hard task to stand out from the competition with excellent camera performance, great display, and long battery life. The latter looks achievable with the significant bump to the 5,000 mAh unit, but we will know for sure once we have our hands on one of those and test it out extensively. Even with a sub-$1000 price tag, the V60 has a lot of proving to do.

In the United States, the LG V60 will be sold by AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. Verizon’s version of the device will be called LG V60 ThinQ 5G UW (haha) and will support mmWave 5G connections. Phones sold by the other carriers will only support sub-6GHz connection. LG said US carriers will announce their pricing in the coming weeks.

The LG V60 ThinQ is a step in a more modern direction for LG with improvements in the right places though some standard perks, like the telephoto lens, have been dropped. Combine that with the Dual Screen and you have an overlarge phone that’s moderately powerful enough to become a multimedia machine that can watch and play on 5G connectivity. Whether that’s enough to separate the V60 from the pack may come down to its cost, which will convey whether the phone is a shrewdly-priced alternative to expensive foldables or just another flagship phone with a quirky addition.
