Los tiempos de respuesta del display muestran lo rápido que puede cambiar la pantalla de un color al siguiente. Tiempos lentos de respuesta pueden llevar a imágenes persistentes alrededor de objetos en movimiento o a displays borrosos. Particularmente los aficionados a los juegos 3D frenéticos deberían usar una pantalla con tiempos de respuesta rápidos.

Parpadeo de Pantalla / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Para atenuar el brillo de pantalla algunos portátiles están encendiendo y apagando la retroiluminación muy rápidamente. Esto se hace a una frecuencia que no debiera detectarse a simple vista. A casi $6,000, no hay nada barato en ello, pero la configuración de hoy de Eurocom Tornado F5W demuestra que el rendimiento de nivel sobremesa es más que posible en una estación móvil de 15.6". Con potentes CPU y GPU que son (en algunos tests) un 70% más rápidos que el competidor más próximo, si la capacidad de cálculo bruta es lo que buscas, apenas hay máquinas que puedan competir. Lo mejor de todo, el Tornado maneja todo sin ni el más remoto parecido a una ralentización, con las temperaturas controladas en toda situación y un óptimo modo Turbo Fan (al estilo MSI) para aumentar aún más el potencial de ventilación y exprimir hasta la última gota de rendimiento.

Descontando portabilidad, peso, y coste, el Eurocom Tornado F5W es una estación de trabajo a tener en cuenta, que presume de rendimiento nivel sobremesa, y con muy pocos sacrificios.

Los posibles compradores agradecerán la facilidad de mantenimiento y mejora; se pueden cambiar hasta CPU y GPU en el Tornado F5W. Las velocidades de almacenamiento y el rendimiento de sistema en general también es tremendo, con un SSD Samsung 960 Pro (y configuraciones RAID-0 opcionales) demuestra ser más que capaz. Los niveles de ruido del ventilador doble son razonables y las temperaturas superficiales no son nada de lo que preocuparse. No nos impresionaron los altavoces integrados o el aguante de la batería, pero ninguna de esas categorías es vital en una estación de trabajo.

El display de 120 Hz de nuestro modelo de pruebas, si bien es bueno en general, se beneficia mucho de un calibrado profesional y es terriblemente impreciso de fábrica. Con todo, hay muchas otras opciones, y lo mismo cabe decirse de los otros componentes—incluyendo CPU y GPU, dónde también hay al menos de media docena de opciones (más económicas). El precio puede por tanto ser unos miles de dólares más bajo y el usuario aún puede acabar con una estación de trabajo muy capaz.

La conclusión: descontando portabilidad, peso, y coste, el Eurocom Tornado F5W es una estación de trabajo a tener en cuenta, que presume de rendimiento nivel sobremesa, y con muy pocos sacrificios.
