Con el Core i7-7740X, Intel básicamente demuestra que las CPUs capaces de rendimiento también son posibles en el socket LGA 2066 que no se ve afectado por problemas de consumo o temperatura elevados.
Sin embargo, al final es una remodelación del Core i7-7700K que de hecho es absolutamente igual en las pruebas y que no tiene (para los jugones suele ser irrelevante) tarjeta gráfica. COmo la Core i7-7700K es igual de cara, pero funciona en una placa base 1150 más barata, no hay motivos por lo que los dueños de una placa base 1150 tengan que cambiarse a un Core i7-7700X y una nueva placa base.
Comparado con las APUs Ryzen más recientes, se puede ver una ventaja de rendimiento a veces importante a veces en las pruebas. Sin embargo, la relevancia práctica es más bien baja. Las aplicaciones optimizadas para múltiples núcleos se benefician claramente de tener el doble de núcleos que las APUs Ryzen de precio similar - esto también valdrá para los juegos en el futuro.
