Echamos un vistazo a lo que la próxima generación de gráficos integrados de Intel puede hacer y es bastante bueno para una solución no discreta de 10 nm. Ahora, Intel tendrá que ponerle el precio justo para que valga la pena la compra sobre los actuales portátiles Ryzen o GeForce MX que ofrecen un rendimiento gráfico similar.

Recientemente hemos tenido la oportunidad de hacer una prueba de rendimiento de la GPU integrada Intel Xe G7 que se lanzará con la serie de procesadores Tiger Lake-U de 11ª generación. Aunque nuestra unidad de prueba era un kit de desarrollo de Intel con drivers preliminares que pueden no ser representaciones perfectas de los modelos de venta al público, los datos deberían darnos una cifra aproximada de lo que se puede esperar, especialmente porque los portátiles Tiger Lake de venta al público se lanzarán tan pronto como este octubre.

Nuestros gráficos a continuación comparan el Intel Xe G7 integrado con el Ryzen 7 4800U Radeon RX Vega 8 y varios otros portátiles equipados con el Ice Lake Iris Plus G7, GeForce MX150, MX250, o MX350. En promedio, los usuarios pueden esperar que la nueva GPU de Intel intercambie golpes contra la GeForce MX250 y la Radeon RX Vega 8 como se encuentra en las últimas CPU Ryzen serie U cuando se ejecutan juegos del mundo real. Los resultados son impresionantes y decepcionantes; impresionantes porque Intel puede ofrecer un rendimiento similar con un proceso de fabricación más grande de 10 nm y decepcionantes porque les ha llevado más de medio año sólo para estar en igualdad de condiciones con el Zen 2 serie U de 7 nm.

La buena noticia es que los portátiles con la 11ª generación Tiger Lake se lanzarán por docenas para ser fáciles de encontrar para los compradores interesados, mientras que la selección de alternativas impulsadas por AMD sigue siendo escasa. La obtención de gráficos similares a GeForce MX de las soluciones integradas hará que juegos populares como Rocket League, DOTA 2, Overwatch e incluso GTA V sean más que jugables en la próxima generación de Ultrabooks.
