Review de Nvidia GeForce MX330 y MX350: Arquitectura conocida - Nuevo nombre

Nvidia está retirando las GeForce MX230 y MX250, reemplazándolas por modelos ligeramente más rápidos. Hemos estudiado más de cerca las dos nuevas GPU de nivel básico, y en esta revisión, conocerás su rendimiento esperado.

Para mostrarles el rendimiento de las dos nuevas GPU de entrada, MSI nos ha suministrado dos portátiles: Los dispositivos de prueba son ambos MSI Prestige 14 unidades; un modelo que ya revisamos con una tarjeta gráfica más potente. Básicamente, ambos dispositivos MX300 están ensamblados de la misma manera. Sin embargo, hay diferencias con la CPU utilizada. Con la Nvidia GeForce MX330, ligeramente más lenta, se utiliza un Intel Core i7-10510U, aunque la Nvidia GeForce MX350 se alimenta junto con un Intel Core i7-10710U. Ambas GPU son nuevas y aún viejas conocidas en el sector de los portátiles. Por ejemplo, la Nvidia GeForce MX330 está basada en la Nvidia GeForce MX250, y la Nvidia GeForce MX350 está basada en una Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile. Sin embargo, la interfaz de memoria se redujo en un 50% con la Nvidia GeForce MX350 - a 64 bits en adelante. A la inversa, este reciclaje también significa que la antigua arquitectura Pascal con 14 nm sigue en uso. Por lo tanto, en términos de puro rendimiento, no se debe esperar demasiado, incluso si la Nvidia GeForce MX330 tiene una velocidad de reloj ligeramente superior a la de la Nvidia GeForce MX250. Con la Nvidia GeForce MX350, el rendimiento es significativamente inferior al de la Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile debido a la reducción de la interfaz de memoria. Al mismo tiempo, la GeForce MX350 también tiene que arreglárselas con 25 vatios y, por lo tanto, es mucho más eficiente energéticamente que una GeForce GTX 1050.

Puntos de referencia sintéticos

Los puntos de referencia sintéticos muestran claramente la tendencia de los nuevos modelos. Ambos nuevos modelos son consistentemente superiores a sus predecesores directos, lo que también era de esperar. La GeForce MX330 ofrece ahora la potencia de una GeForce MX250, mejorando ligeramente el rendimiento en los dispositivos de menor coste. Sin embargo, la GeForce MX350 ofrece ahora un rendimiento ligeramente superior al de una GeForce MX250. Sin embargo, la distancia a la casi idéntica GeForce GTX 1050 (móvil) es muy clara. Esto se debe a que la interfaz de memoria es más pequeña, así como a que el TPD es más bajo.

El consumo de energía

Comprobamos el consumo de energía de los dos dispositivos de prueba en reposo y bajo carga con una pantalla externa. Aquí sólo se consideró el portátil, sin ningún otro componente externo. Con 8 y 9,5 vatios respectivamente, ambos dispositivos son relativamente eficientes en energía cuando están inactivos. Sin embargo, bajo carga, no hay diferencias entre los dos modelos GeForce MX300. Ambos dispositivos requieren alrededor de 50 vatios bajo carga. Sin embargo, la diferencia con la GeForce GTX 1050 (laptop) es bastante clara. Comparados directamente con la GeForce MX230 y la GeForce MX250, nuestros dos dispositivos de prueba requieren un poco más de potencia.

Con la Nvidia GeForce MX330 y la Nvidia GeForce MX350, ahora hay un poco más de rendimiento 3D para el nivel de entrada. Incluso los dispositivos muy compactos se benefician del rendimiento, porque los componentes de bajo consumo no requieren complejas construcciones de refrigeración.

Sin embargo, si se observan las especificaciones, rápidamente queda claro que las supuestas nuevas GPU no son un desarrollo completamente nuevo. Ambos modelos de GeForce siguen basándose en la arquitectura de Pascal, que ya lleva unos cuantos años. Esencialmente, la Nvidia GeForce MX330 es una Nvidia GeForce MX250. También podemos confirmar esto en base al rendimiento. Con la Nvidia GeForce MX350, el fabricante tuvo que tomar un camino ligeramente diferente; por lo tanto, el único paso que quedaba era basar la siguiente GPU más rápida en la Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 (portátil) y recortarla drásticamente. Se ajustaron tanto la interfaz de memoria como el consumo máximo de energía, lo que también tiene un impacto en el rendimiento. Sin embargo, la Nvidia GeForce MX350 es hasta un 30% más rápida que una Nvidia GeForce MX330.

Los dispositivos compactos se benefician de la mejora del rendimiento de los nuevos modelos de GeForce. Desafortunadamente, sin embargo, la más moderna arquitectura de Turing no se está utilizando.

El hecho de que los modelos probados aquí son puras GPU de nivel básico debe tenerse en cuenta al tomar una decisión de compra. Para los juegos puros, no se recomiendan ambos adaptadores gráficos para los títulos modernos. Más bien, ambas GPU pueden convencer definitivamente en juegos más antiguos y también llevar a la pantalla velocidades de cuadro jugables en la resolución de pantalla nativa (1080p).
