The decade-old Call of Duty: Black Ops has just got modded to run in 4K with ray tracing effects and the result is quite impressive. To record the video posted on YouTube, the game was running on a rig consisting of the following: Intel Core i7-9700K, 32 GB of memory, and a single NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super video card.

Call of Duty: Black Ops might be a game hailing from 2010, but it still gets a lot of love in the shape of various mods. Now, the time has come for it to run in 4K with ray tracing effects and the result is quite surprising, even more impressive if we take into account that the entire work has been done by various modders without any involvement of the official developer.

To record the video, YouTube user Sanadsk used a quite powerful setup with a single NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super video card, 32 GB of system memory, and an Intel Core i7-9700K processor. Since Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is scheduled to arrive next week, there is still enough time for a quick run in the original Black Ops title. If I recall it well, the single-player campaign involved a reasonable amount of gameplay — maybe around 15 or so.

Back in 2010, when Call of Duty: Black Ops was released, it grossed over US$650 million globally in just five days and set a new industry record. Its sequel arrived in 2012 as Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Next week's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War promises to deliver "the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible" and remains to see if these claims will be met.
