Windows 11: Microsoft publishes the first Insider Preview build; Android APK sideloading will be supported
Microsoft has announced the first Windows 11 Insider Preview build, version 22000.51. The company has already outlined how you can ready your machine for the Insider Preview, should you wish to try it.
Currently, your machine must be on the Windows Insider Program Dev Channel to access Windows 11. Microsoft stresses that 'there will be some rough edges and low stability' at this stage. We would recommend reading the Windows 11 Insider Program system requirements and Microsoft's supported processors before installing Windows 11 Build 22000.51.
The inaugural build features many of the changes that Microsoft announced last week. However, Android app emulation is missing, as is Microsoft Teams integration. A Microsoft developer has confirmed that Windows 11 will support installing Android apps using an APK. The developer has not detailed how this will be possible, so we must wait until future builds to find out how it will work.
Microsoft has outlined all the changes and features that Windows 11 Build 22000.51 includes on its Windows Insider Blog. The blog post all contains known issues with Build 22000.51, which we would recommend reading before installing Windows 11.
