La GeForce RTX 2070 ofrece más potencia que el modelo básico RTX 2060. Con 8 GB de GDDR6 VRAM, la GeForce RTX 2070 está equipada con la misma cantidad de VRAM que el modelo superior RTX 2080. Con el MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G tenemos la oportunidad de probar otra GPU de la nueva generación de Turing de Nvidia". Al igual que con el Asus ROG RTX Strix 2070 OC, la tarjeta MSI no se basa en el diseño de referencia de la placa de circuito impreso de Nvidia, sino que han desarrollado su propio diseño y además han añadido su propio refrigerador para satisfacer las mayores exigencias que se le han impuesto. Esto se debe a que el MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G viene con una clasificación TDP significativamente más alta. El refrigerador Twin-Frozr contiene dos ventiladores axiales y, debido a su volumen, ocupa 2,5 ranuras.

Para conectividad externa, el MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G cuenta con los siguientes puertos: 3 x Displayport (1.4) 1 x HDMI (2.0b) y 1 x USB Type-C. Internamente, la tarjeta también requiere dos conectores de alimentación PCI-E (6 + 8 clavijas).

El sistema de prueba - Basado en Ryzen 7 2700X

Para nuestro sistema de pruebas estamos utilizando una plataforma AMD basada en el Gigabyte X470 Aorus Gaming 7 WiFi. La CPU, un AMD RYZEN 7 2700X, ofrece un buen rendimiento y para la refrigeración estamos utilizando un AIO (Be Quiet Silent Loop 280mm). Los 16GB de RAM son de G-Skill y están sincronizados a 3.400 MHz. El Acer Predator XB321HK significa que también podemos realizar pruebas en territorio UHD. Frecuencias del MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G

El MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G tiene un reloj base de 1.410 MHz y por lo tanto está al mismo nivel que el modelo de referencia Nvidia. Sin embargo, con su reloj de empuje, la tarjeta MSI se distancia del modelo de referencia, ya que es capaz de marcar hasta 1.830 MHz. Debido a su mayor TDP, el MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G simplemente tiene más margen para poder extraer más rendimiento de la GPU de Turing. La VRAM no ha cambiado con respecto al modelo de referencia, por lo que el MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G tiene un reloj de 14 Ghz.

En comparación con el modelo de referencia, el MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G tiene unas cifras de consumo de energía algo peores debido a su mayor potencia TDP de 225 vatios, pero cabe destacar que incluso la GeForce RTX 2070 Foundation Edition también tiene unas cifras de consumo de energía ligeramente superiores a los valores de referencia.


Benchmarks sintéticos

Los resultados de referencia sintéticos del MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G están en línea con los del Asus ROG RTX Strix 2070 OC - ambas tarjetas ofrecen un rendimiento casi idéntico. Comparada directamente con la GeForce RTX 2080, la GeForce RTX 2070 presenta una desventaja de entre el 20 y el 25 por ciento. En comparación con laGeForce GTX 1080 Ti o la actual GPU de 7 nm de AMD, la AMD Radeon VII, el déficit de rendimiento es similar. En una batalla interna contra el MSI RTX 2060 Gaming Z 6G, el MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G consigue una ventaja de hasta el 20 por ciento.

In the in-game benchmarks, the MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G makes a good impression. All current titles were playable at 1080p and 1440p with maximum details. This was however also possible with the MSI RTX 2060 Gaming Z 6G. The difference in comparison to the RTX 2060 only becomes noticeable at resolutions above 1440p. Many of the tested games also performed well on the MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G at 2160p, however there were situations in some games, mainly recent releases, where frame drops were encountered which meant that enjoyable, fluid gameplay was not possible due to the fact that more than 50 FPS was not possible.
In comparison to the new AMD Radeon VII, the MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G lagged behind, sometimes significantly. Especially at higher resolutions (2160p) the AMD card was able to stretch out a larger lead. Here it seems the 16GB of HBM2 VRAM made its presence known, even if we didn't encounter any problems with the 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM of the MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G during testing.

By looking at the frame rate charts, which we measured in The Witcher 3 (Ultra preset), it was very clear that even with a long gaming session no drops in performance should be expected. Well over 60 FPS was achieved most of the time, and the frame times also show no signs of problems - a smooth gameplay experience can be expected.

En términos de rendimiento de cálculo, el MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G también está al mismo nivel que el Asus ROG RTX Strix 2070 OC, incluso si el modelo Asus a menudo consiguió el primer lugar. No hubo diferencias notables de rendimiento entre las dos tarjetas.

En el test de Luxmark, las GPUs de Turing tuvieron una clara ventaja en comparación con la generación Pascal. Incluso con la GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, aunque más rápida en los juegos, estaba muy por detrás de nuestra muestra de prueba. En Computemark se restableció la antigua jerarquía y el RTX 2070 se encontró de nuevo muy por detrás del GTX 1080 Ti. Overclocking - Más rendimiento a través de OC Manual

Aunque el MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G ya posee un reloj de aumento más alto, intentamos sacar más rendimiento de la tarjeta. Al elevar manualmente el PT al 111 por ciento, la tarjeta pudo obtener casi 250 vatios (249,75 vatios). Con nuestra muestra, pudimos lograr un aumento del reloj base de 120 Mhz. Esto resultó en un reloj de impulso significativamente más alto, además el VRAM también hizo un buen overclocking con un aumento de 1.400 Mhz. Con estos ajustes, la tarjeta no presentaba problemas y era estable, y se logró un aumento de hasta un 15 por ciento, dependiendo del juego.
