La base del Geekom AX8 Pro es idéntica a la del Geekom XT13 Pro que a su vez comparte la carcasa con el Geekom XT12 Pro. Como homólogo de AMD, el Geekom AX8 Pro tiene la oportunidad de demostrar su rendimiento con la misma base compacta. Los dispositivos sólo difieren visualmente, ya que la carcasa del Geekom AX8 Pro está pintada de azul. Los componentes plateados y blancos de los homólogos de la casa son, como siempre, de excelente calidad y encajan a la perfección. Sin embargo, hay diferencias de color debido a los distintos materiales. La carcasa está hecha predominantemente de metal, aunque la tapa y la parte inferior son de plástico. Con sólo 548 gramos, nuestro dispositivo de prueba es ligero, y el Geekom también ocupa muy poco espacio en cuanto a su tamaño (11,7 x 11,2 centímetros). El Geekom AX8 Pro puede fijarse directamente a un monitor mediante el soporte VESA suministrado.

Cuando se trata de interfaces externas, el Geekom AX8 Pro no puede competir con su homólogo de Intel aka Geekom XT13 Pro. A primera vista, apenas hay diferencias, pero si se examina más de cerca, se hace evidente que el Geekom AX8 Pro sólo tiene una interfaz USB4. Esto no es tan malo, ya que las opciones de expansión siguen ahí. También se omite la funcionalidad Thunderbolt. Los modelos Intel (por ejemplo Kit Intel NUC 13 Pro Desk Edition), que en su día se lanzaron como la serie NUC y que ahora comercializa Asus, ofrecen sin embargo compatibilidad con Thunderbolt. El Geekom AX8 Pro recibe un módulo inalámbrico familiar que ya hemos encontrado en otros mini PC Geekom. El módulo WLAN MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7922 también puede manejar el nuevo rango de frecuencias de 6 GHz si el router ofrece esta opción. Según los resultados de nuestras pruebas, esto también es recomendable, ya que las velocidades de transferencia son notablemente mejores que con una conexión en la gama de frecuencias de 5 GHz. Para la prueba utilizamos el router Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000. Como alternativa, el usuario también dispone de una toma RJ45 de 2,5 Gbit/s.

Mantenimiento

La Geekom AX8 Pro puede abrirse por la parte inferior sin mayores obstáculos: Sólo hay que aflojar cuatro pequeños tornillos. La placa base también sirve como elemento de refrigeración pasiva para la SSD. La RAM y el almacenamiento masivo pueden sustituirse en caso necesario. Sin embargo, el Geekom AX8 Pro ya no ofrece opciones de actualización. Si desea limpiar el ventilador de la CPU, tiene que desmontar la placa y la unidad de refrigeración. Sin embargo, con un poco de destreza, esto no supone ningún problema.

Sostenibilidad

El Geekom AX8 Pro es un mini PC muy compacto. No obstante, el fabricante empaqueta el dispositivo con accesorios manejables en una caja comparativamente grande. Las dimensiones son muy similares a las del embalaje del Geekom XT13 Pro. En cambio, el Geekom XT12 Pro se entregó en un embalaje mucho más pequeño. El enfoque adoptado por Geekom con nuestro modelo de prueba no se ajusta a una sostenibilidad sensata en cuanto al espacio necesario para el envío. El dispositivo en sí está hecho predominantemente de metal y plástico. Sin embargo, no sabemos si el fabricante utiliza materiales especialmente reciclados para su producción. Geekom recibe elogios por el periodo de garantía de 36 meses.

Rendimiento - Mucha potencia gracias al AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS

El AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS es un procesador de gama alta y ofrece potencia más que suficiente para la mayoría de las aplicaciones. Si sólo tiene que realizar tareas rudimentarias de oficina, también puede optar por un dispositivo menos potente. Como alternativa, el Geekom AX8 Pro también puede equiparse con el ligeramente más débil AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS que también está disponible. Ambos SoC son nativos de 8 núcleos y ofrecen 16 unidades lógicas de computación. En cuanto a la memoria RAM, 32 GB de RAM DDR5 es siempre una buena opción, aunque se instala al menos 1 TB para el almacenamiento masivo.

Condiciones de la prueba

Utilizamos el perfil de energía "Equilibrado" para todas las pruebas de rendimiento con el Geekom AX8 Pro. Sólo hubo desviaciones de éste en las mediciones de consumo de energía y ruido según nuestros Criterios de prueba. De acuerdo con las especificaciones del fabricante, Geekom permite que el SoC funcione con el consumo de energía más bajo. En cifras, esto significa un límite de potencia de 45 vatios bajo carga continua, aunque se permiten hasta 60 vatios durante periodos cortos. La propia BIOS es muy sencilla y prácticamente no permite cambios. No es posible modificar los límites de potencia del SoC ni la asignación de RAM para la iGPU. Sólo se pueden modificar los preajustes de los ventiladores. El modo de rendimiento se activa aquí por defecto.

Procesador

El Geekom AX8 Pro está equipado con un AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, que también se encuentra en el Geekom A8. En un duelo directo, sin embargo, el AX8 Pro tiene que admitir su derrota ante el A8. Sin embargo, con una diferencia de sólo dos puntos porcentuales en la clasificación de rendimiento, podemos afirmar que ambos dispositivos ofrecen un rendimiento casi idéntico. En las pruebas individuales, el Geekom AX8 Pro no siempre puede imponerse a sus competidores. Los dispositivos alimentados por Meteor Lake en particular (Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti y Acemagic F2A) pueden desmarcarse claramente en las pruebas multinúcleo debido al mayor número de núcleos físicos. En términos de rendimiento de un solo núcleo, sin embargo, el AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS está a la par con un Intel Core Ultra 9 185H

La reproducción del vídeo de prueba 4K y la breve prueba de estrés no influyen negativamente en los valores de CPD. La utilización de la iGPU es notablemente alta, superior al 60 por ciento, durante la reproducción de vídeo. La iGPU del Geekom A7 sólo se utilizó al 30 por ciento en la misma prueba. Almacenamiento masivo

El Geekom AX8 Pro dispone de una unidad SSD con 2 TB de espacio de almacenamiento en la configuración superior. Más concretamente, Geekom ha instalado aquí un Acer N7000. Físicamente, el almacenamiento masivo está conectado de forma óptima, lo que se traduce en altas tasas de transferencia en la prueba. No obstante, la SSD del Geekom AX8 Pro no puede ofrecer el rendimiento que logramos con el Geekom XT13 Pro. No hay diferencias notables en el rendimiento durante el uso normal. La prueba de estrés muestra un rendimiento excelente. Con una pequeña excepción, documentamos un rendimiento de lectura estable. La unidad de refrigeración pasiva es suficiente para disipar el calor con suficiente rapidez. Sólo se puede instalar un dispositivo de almacenamiento masivo en el Geekom AX8 Pro. Esto distingue nuestra muestra de prueba del Geekom XT13 Pro basado en Intel, que puede equiparse con un total de dos dispositivos de almacenamiento masivo.

Sin embargo, hay que tener en cuenta que se trata de una iGPU y no puede seguir el ritmo de los dispositivos con adaptadores gráficos dedicados. Comprobación del rendimiento del Geekom AX8 Pro con una Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti

Como ya hemos mencionado con las conexiones, el Geekom AX8 Pro dispone de un puerto USB4, que permite el uso de tarjetas gráficas externas. Hemos realizado algunas pruebas en combinación con la Razer Core X y una Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti fabricada. Las pruebas revelan un aumento significativo del rendimiento en comparación con la AMD Radeon 780M. El Geekom AX8 Pro ofrece un rendimiento casi idéntico al de los dispositivos de comparación en las pruebas sintéticas. En las pruebas de juegos, los dispositivos potenciados por AMD presentan algunas ventajas claras.

En esta combinación, el mini PC puede manejar muchos juegos que antes sólo se podían jugar con importantes limitaciones. En ocasiones, la combinación también ofrece el rendimiento suficiente para disfrutar de juegos a 1.440p sin tener que sacrificar detalles.

Debido a su diseño compacto, el Geekom AX8 Pro está equipado con una pequeña unidad de refrigeración. En ralentí, funciona de forma silenciosa, lo que es excelente. Sin embargo, esto cambia rápidamente bajo carga, y a 50 dB(A) medimos un nivel de presión sonora que no puede ignorarse. El ruido de alta frecuencia del ventilador contribuye a que el volumen se perciba subjetivamente como aún más alto. El perfil de rendimiento para la velocidad del ventilador está activado por defecto en la BIOS. Alternativamente, hay otras dos opciones para elegir. También realizamos una prueba de estrés con el perfil de ventilador silencioso y sólo pudimos medir una ligera mejora. Con 48 dB(A), el dispositivo sigue siendo significativamente más ruidoso que algunos de sus competidores. El diseño, en combinación con el potente hardware, es un obstáculo importante en lo que respecta al ruido de funcionamiento.

Temperatura

No pudimos documentar ninguna temperatura superficial crítica en ralentí o bajo carga. El aire fresco entra por los laterales y sale de la carcasa por la parte trasera. En consecuencia, las temperaturas en la parte trasera son ligeramente superiores. Con el AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS, alcanzamos algo menos de 93 °C en la prueba de estrés, lo que aún no es motivo de preocupación. Según AMD, el SoC está especificado con una temperatura máxima de funcionamiento de hasta 100 °C. El valor máximo alcanzado en nuestra prueba sólo se alcanza durante un breve periodo de tiempo, ya que al SoC se le permite un máximo de 60 vatios. En la prueba de estrés Prime95, la temperatura media de la CPU se estabiliza en 87 °C, aunque se alcanza un consumo permanente de 45 vatios.

El Geekom AX8 Pro está basado en una plataforma NUC y cuenta con el AMD Ryzen 9 8945HSque ofrece un gran rendimiento. Sin embargo, su diseño compacto impide un mejor desarrollo del rendimiento con un menor nivel de ruido. El diseño del Geekom AX8 Pro no es fundamentalmente nuevo, ya que otros dispositivos con la misma base también han mostrado debilidades similares en términos de emisiones. En cuanto al color, el Geekom AX8 Pro destaca claramente entre los dispositivos idénticos con procesadores Intel. Sin embargo, si le gusta el concepto de color azul es cuestión de opiniones.
