Análisis del Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 - El delgado portátil para juegos ahora con AMD Zen 5

Ryzen AI 300 supera a Meteor Lake.

Asus ofrece ahora también sus híbridos gaming/multimedia ROG Zephyrus G16 con los nuevos procesadores Zen 5 de AMD. Hemos probado la versión con el Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 y el portátil dedicado GeForce RTX 4060. Sigue contando con la misma maravillosa pantalla OLED de 240 Hz, así como con un molesto tercer ventilador.

Asus ha sacado ahora además una versión de su conocido ROG Zephyrus G16 con los nuevos procesadores móviles AMD Zen 5. Sin embargo, solo hay configuraciones disponibles con sistemas de refrigeración convencionales, por lo que el nuevo Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 puede combinarse con la Portátil Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 como máximo. Las GPU RTX 4080 Laptop más potentes, así como la RTX 4090 Laptop en combinación con una unidad de refrigeración de cámara de vapor, siguen estando disponibles únicamente con los chips Meteor Lake de Intel. Actualmente, hay dos variantes para elegir que están equipadas con el Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 y 32 GB de RAM. Nuestro dispositivo de prueba con el Portátil RTX 4060 se vende por unos 2.800 dólares y la versión con el portátil RTX 4070 cuesta algo menos de 3.000 dólares.

Aparte de un nuevo procesador, este portátil solo incorpora cambios mínimos (por ejemplo, su módulo WLAN), por lo que en este artículo nos centraremos principalmente en el rendimiento y las emisiones. Diferencias respecto al modelo Intel

En lo que respecta al diseño de su carcasa, no hay diferencias de ningún tipo en comparación con el modelo Intel de la ROG Zephyrus G16. Sigue pudiendo elegir entre una variante gris oscuro o blanca, aunque la versión más oscura sigue siendo todo un imán para las huellas dactilares. Como ya se ha mencionado, los nuevos modelos AMD sólo se pueden adquirir con un sistema de refrigeración convencional que consta de un total de tres ventiladores con conductos de calor regulares. De nuevo, los dos tornillos ocultos y las patas de goma pegadas dificultan innecesariamente el acceso a los componentes del portátil.

El módulo WLAN puede intercambiarse y el modelo AMD está equipado con un módulo Wi-Fi 7 de MediaTek, lo que supone una ventaja sobre los modelos Intel. Sus velocidades de transferencia son muy buenas y no tuvimos problemas de calidad de señal durante nuestro periodo de pruebas. Su teclado cuenta ahora con una tecla Copilot dedicada pero, aparte de esto, es el mismo que en los modelos anteriores, lo que lo sigue convirtiendo en uno de los teclados más cómodos dentro del campo de los portátiles.

En general, el nuevo AMD G16 soporta las funciones avanzadas de Copilot gracias a su NPU más rápida, que incluye subtítulos en directo, por ejemplo. Lamentablemente, no es compatible de momento con Studio Effects para su webcam, lo que no tiene mucho sentido teniendo en cuenta que los antiguos modelos Intel, así como el Zephyrus G14 con el AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS los soportaban. Ya nos hemos puesto en contacto con Asus y actualizaremos este artículo en cuanto recibamos una respuesta.

Rendimiento - Zen 5 con 32 GB de RAM

Las nuevas variantes GA605 del ROG Zephyrus G16 están equipadas con los nuevos Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 y 32 GB de RAM (LPDDR5x-7500) de serie, lo que sin duda es un avance respecto a los antiguos modelos Meteor Lake que también se podían tener con 16 GB de RAM. Sin embargo, la RAM está soldada y no hay opción de seleccionar 64 GB. Esto está reservado para el idéntico ProArt P16.

Procesador - Ryzen AI 9 HX 370

Ya echamos un vistazo más de cerca a los nuevos AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 en nuestro análisis de CPU. Cuenta con 12 núcleos Zen 5 con una velocidad de reloj máxima de 5,1 GHz. Su rendimiento fue sobresaliente y tanto en las pruebas multinúcleo como en las de un solo núcleo superó claramente a sus competidores, incluido el Core Ultra 9 185H. El ROG Zephyrus G16 con el Core Ultra 7 155H fue más de un 20 % más lento en las pruebas multinúcleo. Para obtener un rendimiento aún mejor, tendría que utilizar las CPU HX de Intel o AMD (p. ej. Ryzen 9 7945HX). Además, su rendimiento se mantuvo extremadamente constante incluso bajo carga continua. En modo batería, su rendimiento fue constante al principio, pero a partir de un nivel de batería del 24 % o inferior, el procesador sólo pudo consumir 19 vatios. El ROG Zephyrus G16 GA605 todavía viene con dos ranuras M.2 2280 SSD de pleno derecho. Una versión de 1 TB de la Micron 2400 está instalada en nuestro dispositivo de prueba, de la cual 860 GB aún están disponibles tras el primer arranque del portátil. Las tasas de transferencia de la SSD fueron sólo medias en general, pero al menos su rendimiento se mantuvo estable incluso bajo una carga prolongada. El procesador integrado Radeon 890M se encarga de los cálculos gráficos sencillos y si las cosas se ponen más exigentes (por ejemplo, al jugar), entonces el procesador dedicado Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 portátil toma el relevo. La avanzada tecnología Optimus se utiliza para cambiar entre los dos, pero siempre se retrasa durante un breve momento al hacerlo. Afortunadamente, esto es completamente normal. El portátil RTX 4060 puede consumir hasta 100 vatios, u 80 vatios cuando se utiliza el modo de rendimiento.

Los resultados del benchmark fueron más o menos los esperados e incluso en el modo de rendimiento, este fue el portátil RTX 4060 más rápido dentro del campo de comparación. El Dell XPS 16 con el portátil RTX 4070 (TGP de 60 vatios) fue sólo un poco más rápido y su diferencia respecto al ROG Zephyrus G16 con el portátil RTX 4070 fue de apenas un 13 % en las pruebas de rendimiento de la GPU.

La combinación del Portátil RTX 4060 y el Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 significa que el portátil hace un gran trabajo cuando juega, también-todos los juegos que probamos se ejecutaron sin problemas en resolución QHD y con el máximo de detalles. Si además desea hacer uso del trazado de rayos, tendrá que recurrir a tecnologías de escalado como DLSS y/o Frame Generation si el juego las admite.

Al ejecutar nuestra selección estándar de juegos, el dispositivo de prueba Zen 5 rindió realmente igual que el G16 más antiguo (Core Ultra 7 + RTX 4070 portátil) e incluso al jugar a juegos más modernos como Cyberpunk 2077, su ventaja no fue enorme.

El rendimiento de la GPU se mantuvo estable tanto bajo carga constante como durante sesiones de juego más largas. En modo batería, el portátil RTX 4060 sólo puede consumir un máximo de 42 vatios, por lo que observamos una disminución del rendimiento del 28 % en este escenario. Tres ventiladores
Tres ventiladores

El sistema de refrigeración del portátil sigue constando de un total de tres ventiladores y resulta ser el punto más débil del Zephyrus G16. Al igual que en el modelo Intel, el pequeño ventilador del sistema es el mayor problema con sus altas velocidades. Si no está utilizando el modo silencioso, los ventiladores casi nunca se quedan quietos, lo que resulta bastante molesto. Estamos un poco sorprendidos porque Asus aparentemente quiso corregir este comportamiento en su GU605 con la ayuda de una actualización de la BIOS, e incluso el ProArt P16 de construcción idéntica estaba configurado mucho mejor. Sus emisiones máximas de ruido bajo carga vuelven a ser comparables, aunque el modelo de AMD es ligeramente más ruidoso en general que el de Intel. No observamos ningún otro ruido electrónico procedente de nuestro dispositivo de prueba.

Temperatura

No hubo sorpresas en cuanto a las temperaturas superficiales del portátil. La carcasa se mantuvo agradable y fresca en modo inactivo y bajo carga baja, pero medimos más de 50 °C en algunos lugares bajo carga. Aun así, la zona alrededor de los dos ventiladores en particular se mantuvo muy fría, por lo que la zona WASD del teclado también se mantiene superfría cuando se juega. Durante la prueba de estrés, el procesador se estabilizó en 30 vatios y la tarjeta gráfica en 65 vatios después de unos minutos.

Consumo de energía

En general, tampoco hubo verdaderas sorpresas en nuestras mediciones de consumo, y los dos modelos ROG Zephyrus G16 obtuvieron resultados muy similares debido a sus valores TDP/TGP comparables. Puedes esperar algo menos de 130 vatios cuando juegues. En la prueba de estrés, medimos inicialmente algo menos de 180 vatios antes de que este valor se nivelara en torno a los 135 vatios al cabo de unos minutos. Por tanto, la fuente de alimentación de 200 vatios suministrada es perfectamente adecuada. Su consumo en espera de 1,3 vatios es ligeramente demasiado elevado.

Tiempos de ejecución

La capacidad de su batería sigue siendo de 90 Wh, pero los tiempos de ejecución de la versión AMD son ligeramente mejores que los del modelo de Modelo Intel. En nuestra prueba WLAN a 150 cd/m² y 60 Hz, medimos algo menos de 8 horas (~7,5 horas a 240 Hz), lo que supone 45 minutos más que la GU605. A brillo de pantalla completa, sin embargo, su tiempo de funcionamiento fue el mismo, 5:45 horas. La nueva GA605 también tuvo una clara ventaja en la prueba de vídeo a 150 cd/m², ya que medimos 13:44 horas frente a 11:11 horas.

Gracias al nuevo procesador móvil AMD Zen 5, el Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 ofrece ahora un rendimiento de CPU considerablemente mejor en comparación con el antiguo Modelo Intel con el chip Meteor Lake y, de hecho, ejecuta los juegos bastante bien. Además, la duración de su batería ha mejorado un poco y todas las variantes del GA605 están equipadas con 32 GB de RAM de serie. Todavía no hay una variante de 64 GB disponible, esto está reservado para el ProArt P16.

Por otro lado, los modelos AMD pueden adquirirse con el portátil GeForce RTX 4070 en el mejor de los casos, y tendrá que prescindir de la refrigeración por cámara de vapor y de GPU más rápidas. Esto nos lleva a la mayor debilidad del AMD-G16, es decir, sus ventiladores. El tercer ventilador del sistema es particularmente molesto durante el uso diario con sus altas velocidades de rotación y usted está casi obligado a utilizar el modo silencioso para asegurarse de que los ventiladores están apagados incluso cuando el portátil está en ralentí. Esto nos sorprendió, ya que se suponía que Asus iba a rectificar este problema en el G16 mediante una actualización de la BIOS y el ProArt P16, que está construido de forma idéntica, no tiene que lidiar con este problema.

El nuevo AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 ofrece mucho más rendimiento que el procesador Meteor Lake y también ha mejorado los tiempos de ejecución del portátil. Sin embargo, el punto débil del Zephyrus G16 GA605 sigue siendo su configuración de ventiladores con un molesto tercer ventilador del sistema.

En cuanto al precio, la situación se vuelve un poco más complicada. Esto se debe a que el precio que Asus pide por el GU605 con un Core Ultra 9, 32 GB de RAM y un portátil RTX 4070 es de algo menos de 3.000 dólares y la variante con el portátil RTX 4060 y 32 GB de RAM ya se puede encontrar en línea por unos 2.500 dólares. Incluso si la versión de AMD es mejor (y es probable que el problema con el ventilador se resuelva bastante pronto mediante una actualización), el sobreprecio de unos 300 dólares en comparación con los modelos Meteor Lake comparables es difícil de justificar.
